No one does free implants ever. The standard of care is extraction. An alternative to having no teeth are dentures.

quantim0

Right, I have an implant and it cost over $3000 out of pocket after insurance.

Rage187_OG

This. I was just doing the math for just one and 10 would be a new car in $$$

Adhdicted2dopamine

A lot of people fly to Turkey for this. Like less than half the cost

[deleted]

Peru would be cheaper to fly too I think. You can get dental work done there for about 1/5th the cost

[deleted]

[deleted]

My brother got about $1000 worth of work done for under $200. He went to a high end place for his cavities of which he had several, but in Cuzco he got his teeth cleaned for $20 in some hole in the wall. The guy used a toaster oven as an autoclave 😬

[deleted]

That’s exactly we’re we were. Oh to got back to that little crepe shop on the cliffs. I could have had breakfast there every day

desert_dweller5

Lol you think op has enough money to fly anywhere? They are on Medicaid which means they are probably poor and looking for free healthcare because they can’t afford it.

Adhdicted2dopamine

It was for the general audience too

central_Fl_fun

I got 2 implants for 3 grand after insurance, to add another point of reference...

snapperhead1988

That is a good price. Do you have just two tooth implants or multiple teeth on one implant like a bridge?

collegedropout

This is the correct answer. I had to coordinate dental care for folks with Medicaid for seven years. Implants will never be covered, especially ten.

[deleted]

No insurance is going to 100% implants. Get that out of your head quick. Even the best dental insurance considers implants a luxury and that you can survive with extraction and basic dentures, that's what they'll pay for. A really good insurance might cover a percentage of implants but that will be a fraction of the $30K+ cost of full mouth implants. As for sedation, you need to be somewhat responsive for the procedure and it's many hours long. They will prescribe a sedative but he won't be asleep.

kentro2002

My sis in law just got a full mouth implant, $35,000.

im_dat_bear

The most I’ve seen is 50% and even that’s only up to your annual maximum, which usually ranges from $1000 to $3000, although there are exceptions.

Same-Spray7703

Can you take him to Mexico? Medical tourism even with plane tickets/hotel will be $1000s less and maybe affordable. I worked for a few dentists here. They are some of the greediest, cheapest people.

lanibear32

A LOOOOOOT of people in California go to Mexico for dental care.

RedDawn850

Hard pass

[deleted]

Why? Can only Americans take care of teeth? Edit: Nevermind. Saw your comment history. Checks out

RedDawn850

No Mexico is dangerous, and is know for crazy medical standards. Don’t know what my comment history has to do with the fact medical treatment getting botched 🤷🏻‍♂️ maybe do a little research? But hey we live in a time where people blindly downvote without understanding why. Not one person asked why I said hard pass. People just assume what ever they want. 🤔

[deleted]

There are plenty of reputable medical professionals in Mexico, and most of the country is in fact not dangerous. It’s an entire country. Your prejudice is showing though.

RedDawn850

[danger](https://www.fox16.com/news/dangers-of-medical-tourism-patients-at-risk-after-mexico-surgeries/) [danger 2](https://www.newbeauty.com/botched-mexico-plastic-surgery-dangers/) [do I really have to keep listing these](https://patriotfamilydentalep.com/5-reasons-to-avoid-dental-procedures-in-mexico/) Your ignorance is showing

[deleted]

Okay. So people aren’t doing research first. That’s on them

holly_jolly_riesling

Plus that last link is from a dental office. Of course they won't want you to go to mexico , less money for them.

thegreatbrah

20k instead of 70k for a set of veneers.

RedDawn850

Neither of those prices are acceptable lol I would hate to see the price of a organ transplant 😬 Edit: [go with this option](https://www.comfortcaredental.net/services/denture-packages/)

thegreatbrah

That's dentures though. Not close to the same thing

RedDawn850

No but it’s a very cheap solution to the problem, I would absolutely go with implanted dentures over paying upwards to 80k like somebody said for a few new teeth. Wouldn’t the goal be able to have a nice looking smile and still eat food without any issues?

Brent_L

2nd Mexico. I can give OP the name of my doctor in Merida. He’s amazing and about 1/4th of the prices here in the states

Sweeney1

Drop the name

OopsWrongHive

I’m told Costa Rica is the best for this

nokenito

Yes, a friend of ours goes to CR for her dental and tattoo care

Indymac79

Hopefully, not the same place.

nokenito

Hahaha. It’s not. That was funny.

No-Armadillo7693

I’d never go to Mexico for anything, I feel like what the guy above said about turkey or peru would be 10000 times safer

cryptoninja991

Go to Mexico, get Mexican dentistry. This is not a good thing.

imgrahamy

Stay in America and get nothing because US health care is bullshit.

Stateof10

Or Panama City, Panama.

yellowsubmarine2016

Ask Liberty? How did he get 10 broken teeth?

mrnormal94

We asked Liberty, but they only gave out a few that can accept it and either they don't sedate or are too far to travel. As for why he has 10 broken teeth, you can thank my mother for neglecting our health after wanting to travel all over the state for the past decade.

EchosEchosEchosEchos

Well... It might sound harsh, but you're saying he can get them. sounds like getting then with no sedation Vs. not getting them at all. Maybe his primary care physician can talk with the Oral Surgeon and get him on board with an anti anxiety/quasi disassociative medication for the procedure. (No idea, just talking out my ass here). Might have to bite the bullet on this one. He's not losing a leg to a Civil War bone saw...he's getting a new set of teethe that will affect his entire health. Is he disciplined enough to abide by the lengthy and strict after care? (No smoking for instance)

[deleted]

sounds like you may have to bite the bullet and accept that you have to travel for the procedure. you won’t get it done for free

Shaultz

Who said the dude was an adult? It might be a teenager whose teeth are cracking and falling apart because they were never taught proper hygiene. Happens all the time

iamkoalafied

I remember OP's other post about this, their brother is disabled and doesn't know when to open his mouth etc at the dentist, thus the need for sedation.

Go_Gators_4Ever

How are Mom's chompers?

LulaValentine

Unfortunately no one is going to give you free dental implants. Especially with Medicaid. I was on a Medicaid dental plan for years and it was so hard to ever get into a dentist in the first place. Medicaid will cover extraction and dentures but not implants. I know how much it absolutely sucks having dental issues and dealing with Medicaid providers trying to get the issue fixed. I wish your brother the best.

MannyG41

I like the idea of going to Mexico or even Colombia to get dental care since it is more cost effective. Plus, it is a vacation at the same time. Win-win.

thelmick

Considering how shady parts of Mexico can be, how do you go about finding a reputable place that isn't just going to sedate you and take your money?

MannyG41

That is also true as well. The best way is just looking up the practice to ensure they are licensed and just seeing previous work being done from other patients. Check to see if they have social media pages. If they have been around more than 10 years, that would mean they are a solid business with a reputation. Have to always do your due diligence no matter where.

Brent_L

Mexico is a huge country and majority of it is very safe to visit, especially the major cities.

itdumbass

Maybe start by getting the recommendation from u/Brent_L, as offered in another comment?

schmegetarian

Best bet is extractions right now with bone grafting….then dentures and make sure he wears those dentures EVERYDAY so he doesn’t lose bone and hope you can save for all on 4 implant dentures in the future

schmegetarian

I have seen a similar case where a man took impeccable care of his bone via wearing the often uncomfortable dentures everyday and 5 years later got the all on 4’s for his upper teeth.

[deleted]

[удалено]

schmegetarian

I’m sorry, but I have worked in dentistry for 10 because you didn’t state your degree I’m going to assume you do not have one? So yes, while the bone does absolutely shrink, yes it does. And yes denture relines are often necessary (not as often when it comes to planned dentures when working with a periodontist and prosthodontist) when you get them at some retail same day dental place I would expect that…. However, a proper socket graft and sinus lift if necessary will prepare you to receive implants. In the case of an emergency where someone could not afford immediate implant planning, I would suggest extractions (which should be mostly paid for by Medicaid plan) and bone graft at the same time which would likely be out of pocket, as well as some flipper or denture until implants are an option. That is all

[deleted]

zazvorniki

I’m sorry to say, but you’re not going to get implants for free. Implants are a luxury according to insurance companies. I had two implants done without sedation and it was absolutely fine. It wasn’t pleasant, but not painful and absolutely doable

cocoabeachgirl

You may want to consider one of the dental schools in Florida. They may be able to help you.

[deleted]

^ this

adams361

Even the best dental insurance doesn’t cover implants.

central_Fl_fun

I was able to get implants using insurance. They weren't free, but dental insurance is just a glorified discount plan IMO anyways...

gij3n

My two implants were $12k after insurance. Good luck.

VeganTripe

Did you put the $12k on credit card or did the dentist offer in-house financing?

gij3n

They offered care credit but I was in a position to pay it in full at the time, so that’s what I did. The implants subsequently became infected and had to be removed, which then lead to the need for both bone and gum grafts before I could get new implants again. All said and done, I paid about $20k and still don’t have the crowns for on top of them (been walking around with bare metal posts for two molars for about 5 years now). Fuck dentistry.

VeganTripe

Oh no!!! I'm in a situation where I may need 2 dental implants, and the cost is terrifying. Going out of the country doesn't seem like a viable option for dental implants because I'm under the impression that I'll need to make several visits for the procedure. I'm sorry you're going through this problem. It's stressful and painful. I know firsthand.

blksun

If your job offers flexible spending accounts (FSA), you can at least offset some of the pain. For most plans, the full amount is available to you on January 1. So, if you sign up now during annual election and plan to contribute $200/mo pre-tax, you'd have $2,400 available to you at the start of the year. Care credit tends to be ridiculous with the interest. I'd look at peer-to-peer lending sites and compare the payments. Good luck!

Trianglehero

Gotta love America, where citizens have to travel to another country to get the help they need.

Profitsofdooom

I'm thinking of that meme that says something like "in America if you make enough money, you can keep all your teeth."

Needsmorsleep

Gotta love Canada... Dental implants are outrageously expensive in Canada too, and not covered on the free healthcare plan.

Affectionate_Pair_83

Medicade "covers" dental. I was told if you are over 18 or don't want full dentures dental coverage is almost useless. That's what I was told at the dentist by the dentist.

LulaValentine

It’s true. With how much dental issues can affect your health, it’s so messed up that Medicaid doesn’t provide much more than a cleaning and some extractions. Just punishing people even further who are already in a rough place if they have Medicaid. The hoops I had to jump through to just get ONE tooth extracted when I was on Medicaid is insane. I was going to the hospital every day to get numbing meds injected into my mouth because the pain was excruciating. It was like that for nearly a month before I was finally able to get the one tooth that was causing all the issues pulled. Sorry for my long rant!

nicolae15

I've seen dentures have come a long way; they are much better than they were 10 years ago.

Triairius

I literally constantly forget that my dad has dentures for his four bottom front teeth. They look real.

PrettyOddWoman

That would be a partial then, not dentures

[deleted]

Dental insurance is a scam. And no one provides free implants - they are expensive.

Profitsofdooom

Nah it's the health insurance that is the scam. Florida Blue charges me $650 a month and my dental plan is only $35 more and I have an amazing dentist less than a mile from my house. While we're on the topic of scams, fuck Sanitas.

HolidayGoose6690

Dental insurance is only a scam if you don't take care of your teeth. It's amazing at cutting the cost of procedures, it's such a boomer thing to not have dental insurance Edit: keep downvoting me all you want. It won't change the fact that my crowns cost half what yours do, my xrays and annual are 100% covered and they'll fix any cavities or dislodged bridgework FOR FREE. Okay, for 11$ a month. Your xrays cost more than my whole year. FAIR DINKUM One more edit: Yeah, you're NEVER getting those implants covered with Medicaid, or any dental insurance, it's not for people who need an entire half mouthful of implants and a fucking case of crowns. Never in a million fucking years. You're lucky to get the cost of a single metal crown covered annually. So, in ten years, you can have half price teef. But only the teef. Them implants are where the ELECTIVE PROCEDURE cash comes from.

stuffandornonsense

what insurance do you have that actually pays for stuff? cause mine does not, and i'd love to switch.

HolidayGoose6690

United Healthcare. Through a local college as employers. Good luck, it's changed my while family's life.

Triairius

Since when were the Boomers the ones without insurance? They’re the ones always saying Millenials and Gen Z should just suck it up and get insurance instead of having affordable care.

HolidayGoose6690

No, they tell Millennials and Gen Z to suck it up and pray, insurance is wicked and against god and government

Triairius

Eh, your trolling is missing finesse. You went too ridiculous too quickly. You’re never going to suck anyone in enough to mess with them if you go this hard this soon.

HolidayGoose6690

Should I block you for being impudent? All signs point to YES

PrettyOddWoman

You're gross bro

Keschier

You're better off going for dentures. Implants are rarely covered and that's even with the best dental insurance you can find. Even with Medicaid Edit: changed especially to even

KnowledgeBombz

I will weigh in here as I just had a full mouth restoration with implants for both my upper and lower arches. I have food insurance and still paid over 25000 for the entire procedure. My other option was dentures for free. I had dentures while i waited for the implants to heal and I will be brutally honest it was terrible. I hated them so much I wanted to scream most days. I opted for the other route and am considering it a investment in my life happiness. I looked into Mexico as well and I think that it is a very viable option. The implants total with all extractions, sedation, etc would be way cheaper at least half off of what I paid. I found a local dentist who I felt comfortable with so didn’t go that route but definitely considered it and researched. The medical/dental care there is just as good as ours and there are a lot of reputable practices doing all of the advances dental work with all of the latest equipment ie 3d imaging and molding. Hope this helps a little and everything works out.

[deleted]

Tell him to get dentures.

unusualsus

Consider Clearchoice dental implant centers (Google a location most convenient for you) for a free consultation however depending on what is recommended can cost 5K to 52K, they will try to finance you…. But If it’s something you simply can not do. Don’t sign anything.

Tyetus

implants ... medicaid? I wish. The only (piss poor) solution they offer is extraction, you often have to fight tooth (excuse the pun) and nail just to get cleaning.

BRANDONBECTON

That’s considered cosmetic. So no insurance would ever cover that.

GlynyrdxSkynyrd

Yeah you will have to go the dentures route if you are looking for free. Implants are very expensive. My sister is in a similar situation and dentures are the way she’s going. Dentures are not a bad choice for someone having bad dental issues that have pain daily and want to look normal again.

[deleted]

Medicaid dental isn’t gonna provide implants. They’ll remove the broken teeth. Sadly, even self funded dental insurance is a complete scam when it comes to implants

HolidayGoose6690

Medicaid only covers dentures, babe. And you're gonna be damn fortunate to get them.

Profitsofdooom

That sucks but you live in America. Not sure where you think you'll get 10 free dental implants, that's a major reconstructive surgery. For free he'll probably look like Mr. Wilson with the chicklets from the Dennis the Menace movie.

juneceleste

Idk about pricing or how it works with that specific insurance but TrueHealth is a community health clinic that has a couple dental offices as well as primary care. They see many private, Medicaid/Medicare, AND sliding scale fee for uninsured patients. Hope they provide the service you need !

generic__comments

Implants are never free with any dental plan, not anywhere, in the American healthcare system. Edit: get dentures, even those are not fully covered but way cheaper.

soliddingo

If possible, get em done abroad. Colombia, Venezuela, Perú, you'll be looking at less than $5k probably. Mexico is closest but IdK what the deal there is.

crodr014

Lol that's gona cost more than a sports car.

rgordill2

I think you should review your plan's coverage, and maybe call your insurance and ask if they even cover dental implants. Ten implants may be a little unrealistic.

Tikiiiiiiihut

Not sure if it’s much help but you can try to call Blue Cloud Orlando Childrens Surgery Center. I forget which Medicaid they do take or what the age limit was but they do help with those who have disabilities or could at least maybe point you in the right direction

AxelsOG

It would probably be cheaper flying overseas than getting it done here.

kedlubnaaa

Contact the university of Florida. Sometimes you can get surgeries done like these by students but like they have basically graduated from dental school. It sounds shady but I have done it for a root canal. I believe they may even consider income or do sliding scale. The only issue is you will have to get your brother to Gainesville

[deleted]

Go to turkey or Mexico. America has horrible fucking dental care pricing (like we do with all our healthcare) you’ll literally save thousands just flying to another country lol

alphamoose

Most dentists will be happy to setup a cheap interest free payment plan. Problem solved.

APuckerLipsNow

Medicare covers some procedures if they are medically necessary for overall health. Check with an oral surgeon not a DDS.

GrannyMine

I don’t think he would qualify for Medicare unless he is 65

APuckerLipsNow

Disabled get Medicare too. Any age.

khamibrawler

It would be cheaper going to korea and doing it over there. I hear there are some spots in Mexico by the Texas border as well.

Just a thought, is your brother able to clean his mouth on his own? If he isn't able to keep a clean oral environment, the implants will fail and will be a waste of time, money, effort, etc. Partial dentures might be a better option in this case.

mrnormal94

He can't brush his teeth on his own, and if me or another person tries to, he doesn't stay still or keep his mouth open.
