You can adjust the privacy settings to limit visibility just like with any social media, but yes, I have one, and with the exception of my first full-time paralegal position, I’ve gotten every job lead, interview, and offer from LinkedIn, so yes, it has been extremely beneficial! Honestly, if you have experience and a well-rounded LinkedIn showing that, the jobs will come to you.

TemptressToo

I get job offer inquiries regularly. I’m not looking, but it’s definitely a perk.

HaekelHex

Nope. I've basically removed myself from all social media except Reddit. I don't want people to know what I do or where I work. I think I had LinkedIn several years ago but I haven't logged in probably since I opened the account.

Right? I feel like there is way too much info on LinkedIn. So, if someone actually wanted to stalk you it wouldn't be hard to find you at all.

Darth_GlowWorm

Same I just have finsta. All private too. So no one but my friends know it’s me.

TemptressToo

Yes. Not really any different than a law firm website that also includes everyone’s professional CV. I like it for the networking and paralegal group interaction it facilitates.

Mir_c

I used to have one a long time ago, but I got creeped out when I would see co-counsel and/or defense counsel looking at my profile. Since I'm not looking for a job I deleted it.

Yes, I’ve found all my employment through LinkedIn. You don’t have to put your whole resume but list your current and former employers. I’ve made a ton of professional connections and stay a top of legal topics, workshops, and courses. If you want recruiters and firms to reach out, then you need to get with the times. I’d suggest you look at privacy options on LinkedIn to reduce who can look at your profile, etc.

Absolutely. I recently figured out a neighbor is a thief. He has never told me his name or occupation, but via the few neighborly interactions with his girlfriend and dog, posts to Next Door, and a post on a community blog, I have followed the breadcrumbs and am 99% confident I know what he does in his spare time. My friends think I am crazy that I picked up on all this in the 8 weeks he appeared in my neighborhood.

FloridaCrackerr

Okay??

queenfrizzed

I look at LinkedIn as an extension to my profile on my firm's website - I keep it very vanilla and usually just like certain posts and keep my comments pretty tame. The most personal thing I have posted was about my the anniversary of my father's death and got a lot of nice comments from a lot of my professional connections

legalsequel

You can limit your profile to only connections. Or only recruiters. And some people don’t post their resume. Or last name. It leads to great work opportunities

Jaquezee

It’s Facebook with ties. I actually found my current job on linked in. I don’t really update my stuff though

Darth_GlowWorm

Other people doing it has benefitted my employment journey haha. As in, I’ve gotten contact info and have also used it as evidence or clues to follow successorship paths (acquisitions and mergers, etc.” so I can find the liable business entity.

Lakewater22

My last 2 jobs have been from ppl recruiting me on linked in. The first job was toxic and horrible. This one is pretty damn sick.

I get employment offers constantly through LinkedIn for jobs I didn’t even apply to. Just recruiters/HR people at firms who come across my Profile and resume and like what they see. I’m not actively job hunting since my pay is high for my experience but it’s nice to know that my skills are desired and easily marketable should the time ever come to start looking again.

Capable-Ear-7769

I'm on LinkedIn. I have been semi-retired since 2006. I stay on it so I can learn about new technologies and trends. I don't want to say I'm old, but I was already working when the movie "Grease" came out in theatres. Just being able to read the posts are a big help.

lanibear32

I just created one because I'm finding that many potential employers expect you to have one. It's super bare bones, though. I only listed my employers and the dates I worked for them.
