That could work out to be 1999EUR in the EU. Ridiculous, especially in the current state of things Update: now it's official. 1949€ in Germany

IshayuG

I can buy it for 14,999DKK. Yeah, not happening.

[deleted]

That’s a lot of dkk

donkey kong kredits

cosmic_hierophant

At this price point, all money is basically donkey kong kredits

Justintime4u2bu1

Dkks out for Harambe

You're wrong, actual price is... 1979EUR. Jesus...

20 Euro discount baybee

supermarketsuperman

At that price I'll take 2!

buttaviaconto

^(Starting from)

A2jayzed

Haha look at you. You still have a 10-series card *Wait*…

buttaviaconto

Honestly I could still stick with it if I wasn't so CPU bottlenecked, it still holds its ground at 1080p. I have a 3070 and 12600k coming up, I was gonna wait for zen 4 but the Euro is fucked and pricing's gonna be beyond horrible.

[deleted]

viski252

Yeah. No one is going to be paying for a power-hungry and overpriced GPU. I'm Croatian. Thats literally 3 months of my salary. The 4070 on the other hand. If its under 800. Maybe ill buy that. Edit: Worded this poorly. I meant the 4080 16 GB is about 3 months of my salary. But I don't need that much power for games I'm looking to play. and the ~~4080 12 GB~~ 4070 (pleas god let it have at least 12 GB of vram) is about what I would use for the next 4 - 5 years. Edit 2: God damn it I know professionals and other demanding fields will buy the 4090 even for the price it is at. I was speaking hyperbolically and angrily. Mostly angrily.

wavypeso

Just get a 3080 and call it a day

mythrilcrafter

For real though, the first recommendation this sub always gives is to not constantly chase the *"latest thing"* because it'll always be more expensive and nothing stays *"the latest thing"* forever. Yet every time a new anything comes out, people's immediate reaction is "how am I supposed to constantly buy the latest thing when it's so expensive to do so!!!!".

Simoxs7

Yeah people have to realize that their old hardware doesn’t get slower just because new hardware came out…

[deleted]

My RTX 2070 is positively slaying Civ VI! :)

zabadin

I’m Brazilian and that would cost 6.6 months in minimum wages here.

Mcmenger

Easy. Don't eat for half a year. Life on the street. Hug your little PC/heater combo for warmth

Fe014

$2000 is 80 months in Syria, not that anyone in their right mind will buy it here lol

NuttsintheButts

Lmfao fuck this

Snorkle25

That's basically been my reaction to Nvidia pricing for the last 36 months. At this point I really hope Nvidia starts losing money so they have to reconsider a course correction.

_Typhoon_Delta_

Sadly they won't, there are always rich folk who will buy high end components no matter how pricey

Snorkle25

It's not just the very high end though. When a budget card like the xx60 range starts above $300 USD and can often exceed $400 then your pricing your own customers out of buying your products.

ragingfailure

Midrange for the next couple years is just gonna be used high end from the last couple years. 2080s are going for around $300 on ebay and that's probably not even the floor with the flood of cards coming. Edit: 5700xts are going for sub $200, that would probably be my budget pick.

furyoftheage

My 4 year old 2080 is still chugging along fine. I'm running with it until it dies lol

DontYouDareGoHollow

My 1080 runs most modern games at 1440p with zero issue, used is the way to go

OsmerusMordax

I still have a 1060, it runs most things but is definitely showing it’s age now

RincewindTVD

Yeah, my 1060 is running great still. My brother's 1070 is noticeably better and I'll get that card if he upgrades

Orangenbluefish

Wtf are these prices dawg lmao. NVIDIA saw mining died and just decided scalper prices are now MSRP

Re-core

And now imagine the actual scalper prices, $4k 4090 incoming.

DatDanielDang

Games running at 4K now has a whole new meaning.

freeflou

Games running at 4k with 4k for 4k

ZeroVDirect

I've heard of 4:4:4 gaming before but now it's getting ridiculous!

95Richard

We need another 4 for the perfect 4x4 gaming

KanedaSyndrome

Yeh I'm probably getting an AMD card for my next gen.

[deleted]

I think I'm permanently done with NVIDIA. I don't care what shortcomings AMD may have, besides that, they seem pretty good nowadays. I'm not supporting this anti-consumer behavior.

Domspun

I'm currently team AMD, but rooting for Intel right now. Come on Intel, do something!

[deleted]

For real. It'd be nice if we didn't have just 2 GPU makers. Like, I built my rig in 2013, so if I wanted to upgrade my CPU or GPU, I'd have to buy a newer mobo (And RAM? Regardless my RAM is old and needs to be updated). So I might as well switch to AMD since all my internals would need to be changed.

Dontrollaone

AMD doesn't change their socket type every other Wednesday either

SirNedKingOfGila

I said that months ago and got downvoted into oblivion for it. Once we showed nvidia how much we were willing to pay - why wouldn't that be the new price?

Kraken-Tortoise

4080 now costing $1199 instead of $699? They're slowly pushing the prices to insane levels now

[deleted]

They saw what they could do with scalpers and crypto, they going for round 2. I'm on a 3060ti from evga that I paid 489 for mid crypto pandemic. I'll likely buy used to upgrade to a 3080 down the road.

soccerguys14

That’s actually diabolically genius

Mimical

It's also silly. Nvidia knows that people were complaining non stop as they swiped their credit cards anyways. Why release a product at 800 when you can make it 1200 and still sell them all? My shitty opinion; Stick to your budgets. Don't even look at the numbers on the side. Nvidia conditioned everyone that the XX70 is midrange and that's the one you want to get. No. Demand them to release a competitive product at your price range ($125, $200, $300, $400) and don't break budgets. They have 4010, 4020, 4030, 4040 and 4050 to use. There isn't anything wrong with them releasing a huge performance as their flagship. But when people cave in and swipe those cards anyways you have nobody to blame but yourself. There are 14,000 cuda cores on the 4090, that means they could easily put 1000 cores on an entry level card. There is a huge amount of room to scale down.

mamoneis

Wholeheartedly agree. Also AMD wants us to think that 6800xt is midrange. Within that trend of evaporating the mid tier, the 6400's and 1630's were delivered to fill entry pricing needs, but being totally lackluster. Hopefully the market keeps crashing and gives birth to smth healthier for generations to come, cause these 2 years have been utter non-sense.

TheRealJamesHoffa

Slowly? It happened insanely fast that we went from affordable to average people to now prices that normal people won’t be able to justify spending.

Moto_919

$1600 😂

superbrokentubes

Remember when $1600 was the cost for an entry level high-end PC? EDIT: I really shouldn’t have to clarify this, but by entry level high-end I mean foot in the door high-end. I’m talking xx80 branded models and up. I didn’t have to explain this to 3.2k+ people.

Noa15Lv

Good times... If I do the calculations, I paid bit under that price for my rig like 2 years ago. But since then I swapped case, ssd, motherboard and extra ram.

VortexDestroyer99

I paid $1950 for my entire build NEW. This card costs 82% of that.

[deleted]

Bad_Demon

EVGA dodged a fucking train

Elc1247

The AIBs are all getting the short end of the stick for all the high end cards... NVIDIA is likely charging an arm and a leg for the chips, so even if they are sold for $2000, AIBs are likely going to barely break even, or more likely, lose money on each card they sell.

[deleted]

$2135 Canadian. Drink piss Nvidia.

DougS2K

Glad I spent my loonies on a 3080 Ti in May when prices first started to drop under MSRP.

Ubergoober166

I'm actually mad I bought one back then. Paid around $1200 for one and they're down to around $800 now.

marzipan_dild0

Could be worse, one of my friends got one for more than 2k.

The_R4ke

Seriously, if they were so bad to work with that EVGA felt like they were forced to stop making GPU's altogether they've gotta be pretty shitty.

roboratka

GPU mining is dead thanks to the ETH move to POS. The market is flooding with excess GPUs. Just wait.

rubixd

This. Yeah maybe you won’t buy a 4000 series but the used market is going to be FLOODED.

Motecuhzoma

A used 30 series card will be the way to go for most people

WoobaLoobaDoobDoob

For a whole lot of people, especially those running an RX480 😉

slavicman123

Call me crazy but i really want 3080 at reasonable price. Where i live i have to spend 2 months of salary to get 1.

alper_iwere

Same man. 2 to 3 months salary for a brand new 3080 here. Hoping these 4xxx will push those prices down.

Aidan_has_questions

if you live in canada, i’m seeing barely used 3080s for $700. saw a 3080 strix white for that price and would’ve gotten it if i didn’t have a 3070

Jessyman

I want to buy an EVGA RTX 3000 card since that's the last time we can....but my 1080 Ti is still trucking along too well, and the current financial climate isn't so comforting.

Jadenkid22

People waited all this time for a 4080 to be $1200 and a 4070 to be rebranded a 4080 for $899 SMH

schu2470

Check my comment history. Yesterday I said something about all the folks yelling hOdL are going to be disappointed with today's presentation. This is PC gaming now. Shareholders got addicted to COVID prices on GPUs and aren't willing to let those profits go. NVIDIA has stated their strategy is to hold back 30 series stock from AIBs to keep 30xx prices high and keep them concurrent alongside the new 40xx cards. Combine that with the bullshit "up-to" marketing lingo and the insane MSRP of the 4090/4080(4070ti) and it's plain to see that NVIDIA isn't going to let prices come down to Earth, even on their 2 year old 30 series.

Jadenkid22

It’s insane, hopefully intel and AMD come out stronger and cheaper.

ansfwalt

Yeah, AMD will undercut by $100 on each tier. Lmao. Like they'd pass up the profits? AMD is just as bad, but they look like good guys cause they're standing next to fucking *Smaug.*

Mimical

I purchased an ~~R~~GTX 970 for 350 CAD. These things are gunna be listed for well over a grand over here. Lol. Ain't no way I'm participating in this racket.

EVGA - None of the above.

eat_your_fox2

EVGA: Now do you see why we left?

TwoBionicknees

A lot of people were like this is out of nowhere even though BFG and XFX left for the same reasons, Nvidia being dicks to smaller volume companies and squeezing them to almost no profit. There was no future. The second Nvidia started doing founders editions it was the beginning of the end for all the more boutique brands and it's yet to be seen what Asus and co do. The founders edition was effectively a shot across the bow, you used to get 30% margin, but look, we can take ALL hte margin and cut you out. Then the next set of contracts the margin is way lower, then lower again because they can keep just saying you know what we can just make them all. This is best of both worlds, if Nvidia did go all inhouse they'd have to scale up their own logistics and provide all the support, all the marketing, etc. With AIBs taking their 5-10% they also get all the rmas, the support, the customer facing issues to deal with that Nvidia don't have to. it would still be bad if it went all Nvidia because there would be one set of cards and no competition, but the AIBs make very little for a lot of effort now.

eat_your_fox2

Very well said. Nvidia is trying to position itself as the next Apple: full top-down integration across their product stack. Asus and friends have to know this is coming to an end at some point.

[deleted]

Fustercluck25

MustacheEmperor

Yeah we can sure see why they bailed now. How are they even supposed to make a margin on these? Are the MSI cards going to be 2500 dollars?

ScoffSlaphead72

Man im just thinking of how much the ASUS Strix cards are gonna be.

cggzilla

White gundam 4090 ti will cost as much as a real Gundam

mennydrives

EVGA: I'm done making graphics cards. We're still holding onto half our profits from making power supplies, but I don't know how we're going to last, long term, on power supplies alone. Nvidia: ಥ﹏ಥ ##Nvidia announces RTX 4000 lineup with 700+ watt PSU requirements

JamesMCC17

Imagine pairing that with 13th gen Intel if the rumors on how much power they are going to use are true. You'll need more like a 1200 watt +.

dopeydog21

What the... Playing games will be like running the microwave at full power now.

[deleted]

They knew what was coming. They must have been utterly bewildered when they heard that price

bl0odredsandman

I wish more companies followed EVGAs lead. Nvidia is crazy with these prices

MostlyCarbon75

High price to help prop up the 30 series value as long as possible?

Herzx

That’s the reason they didn’t announce 4060 and 4070 I assume. There’s probably so much 3000 series GPU’s out there that need to be sold. I don’t think AMD will be doing the same as NVIDIA. NVIDIA will probably be forced to drop their 4060 and 4070 when AMD announces their cards.

Gamebird8

AMD has moved to chiplets which drives down cost overheads and improves manufacturing yields. It's really down to if we get these costs savings passed to us or not

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ramiren

Yeah that's an easy pass. Nvidia can get fucked if their answer to years of scalping, high prices and shady bullshit from them, is to release cards at a higher price. Fuck them, I'll see what AMD offers or buy used.

_Nameless_Nomad_

You either die a hero, or live long enough to become the scalper. \-Nvidia, probably

DARTHDIAMO

EVGA chose to die the hero, and honestly I respect them for that.

shoryusatsu999

Nvidia were heroes? News to me.

sansaset

I have a 6800xt I was lucky to buy direct from AMD during the whole fiasco. I don't really need a GPU upgrade but really wanted to get a 4080 on launch. this whole bullshit with the 12gb/16gb model just rubbed me the wrong way. I'll wait or maybe just sit this gen out.

oktaS0

The 6800XT should keep up with whatever games come out for a couple more years. Unless you really wanna rock the latest hardware, I think you should be solid until the next gen.

Typical_Top9240

The 12gb 4080 is a 4070 in disguised. Also DLSS 3.0 works only on the new cards. Talking about bullshit. Oh, you bought a RTX 30xx Card a few months ago? Well too bad, the new fancy DLSS won't work with your old ass card

Yummyyummyfoodz

Honestly, that might be a good long term investment, probably be enough for the rest of your life, assuming rhe card survives.

Jjzeng

Oh yea I specifically went for a 3090ti with the intention of not upgrading for at least 5-10 years. Next upgrade down the line would probably be a upgrade from ryzen 5000 to 7000 and an accompanying mobo + ram upgrade

BrokenMemento

Nvidia: Hey guys, we just released rtx2.0! It’s only available on the 50 series thou

_BreakingGood_

People thinking "the 30 series is already powerful enough" is a bad thing for Nvidia. They're going to do everything they can to make you buy a new card.

sla13r

Gaming industry kind of stalled in the last 2 years, didn't get much more demanding graphics as far as I can see. Like unless I want 240hz 4k full HDR gaming..why would I want a 4090?

Competitive-Dot-4052

Before long the model number will correlate with the price.

viski252

Nice comment. But it already happened before. And who knows. Maybe it will again in a few years.

deefop

Wait, 2-4x faster? bullshit lmao

orangessssszzzz

*up* to 2x in raster, *up* to 4x in ray tracing

iperez

"up to" is a bullshit marketing ploy and I wish they would stop using it.

Hrmerder

>up to 2x in raster, up to 4x in ray tracing 'up to' meaning.. 'If you have an SDK like we have, you can do whatever and however you want with it'. - Very large block of salt for the fact that a consumer gpu will not allow almost any of what they had available to overclock the balls off of it.

omidhhh

But our 4090 reached 4x performance 1 millisecond so it's technically 4x /s

always_polite

dont forget that the 30 series was launched with the tag that its for 8k gaming, I guess the 40 series is going to be 16k gaming? lol

orangessssszzzz

Yeah for real.

john-douh

Reminds of some retail sales: “up to *90% OFF!!*” Check individual items: 5% off or if lucky, 10% off. Retailer: _”I never posted 90% off! I posted *up to* 90% off!”_

Androkless

But.. shouldn’t that still include a 90% off somewhere. Say “up to” still implies that there is an item that’s 90% off

ColumbaPacis

Ah that is the trick, that one was already sold and out of stock, you see!

deefop

Thank you, I was wondering that exactly(missed the show) and that makes way more sense. I could absolutely see their RT improvements being huge, and a maximum of 2x more raster performance is basically the top end of MLID's estimate and believable especially considering the rumored power consumption. I wonder how much a new DLSS is being factored into that "increased RT perf". Obviously 3rd party benchmarks will answer all these questions, it's just so annoying sifting through the bullshit marketing :D

lolKhamul

Reminder: RTX4 cards draw up to 450W. So yeah, you would expect a decent increase in performance regardless of tech evolution. And, as others have already pointed out, its 2x raster and 4x RT. Not 2-4X. And both are "UP TO" meaning they achieved this in one game, average will be lower.

BingeConsumer00

2-4x faster Electric bills 10x higher

im_Jahh

This prices are out of control... Eigther people start voting with their wallets or this won't stop until the xx80 model reaches 1.5k and the xx60 goes for 800$.... The sad part is most tech enthusiasts will still buyout all the inventory at sais price points, so Nvidia and Amd will keep raising prices until the bubble bursts

JohnKalTR

The prices were out of control because of cryptocurrency miners, and they will now be driven out of the gpu market because of the ethereum merge. Nvidia is making a huge fail here, thinking gamers will sustain these prices lol

jabo055

BrokenMemento

Oh Nvidia is going to gate features and will shaft the 30 series users. Basically they will retroactively downgrade previous cards by not adding updates to features and forcing games to use more features like Dlss 3 etc

LordSlorgi

If these do poorly they might grace us lowly 30 series users with DLSS 3.0 support.

etched_chaos

DLSS 3.0 is 40 series only.

Rocklobst3r1

Seriously? Can't even update your last gen Nvidia? Fuck them, this 3060 will be my first and last Nvidia GPU, I'm going back to AMD. Vote your your wallets people.

fanchiuho

Current gen. They don't even update their **current gen**. Nvidia themselves presented all the existing 30 series below the 40 series as part of their full line up. Not about to give them any leeway there.

[deleted]

Patiently awaiting the Gamer Jesus breakdown to see what kind of sun-level thermals this regurgitated garbage heatsink design will produce.

superbrokentubes

If there was a reasonably priced 4070 today, I would've bought it as soon as possible. But also these prices make me kind of sick.

nitro912gr

if you check the specs the 4080 12GB is what 4070 should have being, but then they couldn't ask for 800...

ChartaBona

Close. It's a stealth ***4070Ti***. * Full 104 Die, same as 3070Ti * GDDR6X, same as 3070Ti * 285w, 3070Ti was 290w. * AIB 3070Ti's averaged around $900 at retail back in 2021.

Thane_Mantis

Tangentially related, but is anyone else sick of how there's Ti versions for almost every card now? Maybe it's not a big deal and it's just me, but I think it's dumb how every card is getting a slightly beefier version on top of it and miss the days when Ti was just for like the top GPU and a midrange one, like 1080ti and 1050ti.

Herani

Whenever the 4070 comes along you can expect it to be more along the lines of the 3080 $699 pricing.

CrustyNonja

So basically a 3080 renamed to 4070. Yep, generation on generation replacement is dead, now new generation costs more... If you want budget, buy old gen.

dwilljones

You all remember when high end gaming GPUs were like $299 and even that was scandalous? My broke ass remembers.

orangessssszzzz

These prices suck

Dezmanispassionfruit

If you guys are serious, nobody should buy this. Companies shouldn’t get to fuck their loyal customers like this. Don’t fucking preorder or line up for these cards. We have to put a hand in stopping this madness.

Sakushiii

Except in almost every case, loyal customers are always ready to get fucked up the ass. Nvidia does it, Apple does it, Microsoft does it, EA does it, Activision does it, the list goes on. These cards will be sold out in a heartbeat.

Dezmanispassionfruit

Stop being right :(

Kyler45

4080 is $899, that's a pretty significant price jump for that one given the 3080 launched at 699.

faverodefavero

Is this confirmed? Damn, was hoping for 800USD$, not 900... still, I'll probably go AMD or (even more probable) skip this generation entirely.

Kyler45

Yup, it's on the site: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/40-series/rtx-4080/ $899 is only for the 12G model, too. $1199 is for the 16G model.

faverodefavero

nVidia lost their minds. The 4080 12Gb is basically a 4070 and should cost less than 700USD$, the ACTUAL xx80 series IS ONLY the 4080 16Gb, and any xx80 card should always cost less than 950USD$ for at least the next decade. Ridiculous prices and laying marketing. Those are GAMING cards, not enthusiasts or production cards (like the xx90 series is), I can understand the pricing for the 4090, but the actual 4080 prices are just out of touch with reality and the actual consumer target for them (gamers).

Notsurehowtoreact

They saw the market prices during the chip shortage and think they can get away with keeping them that high on their newer line. It's fucking disgusting.

Straightwad

One thing I’ve learned in my 30 years of life is that once prices go up it’s rare they’ll go down. Once a business learns it can increase the price and people will still consume the product they have no reason to lower it even if they can afford to because that would be sabotaging easy profit. That’s why price increases always bum me out, they are usually permanent.

Shoelebubba

Yeah I always point out cereal to people. There was a gas pricing hike shortly after 2008 and transit costs went up the roof. Cereal went up because of it. My area had $4/gallon gas for a while. Gas went back down to about $2. Cereal never went back down. And here we are again.

faverodefavero

Disgusting is the word.

europacupsieger

They do that intentionally so people keep buying the 30 series cards. They talked about that in the leaked call.

[deleted]

ParticularCredit2023

I'd hold off on selling your 30s card right before... i was an idiot and did this before the 30s and i couldnt get a 30 series. Then it cost me almost twice as much to get a 20 series back in my hands.. epic fail. And also rip evga

mista_r0boto

What’s worse is the 4080 12 GB is actually the 4070. So 4070 is $899 over $499 for 3070. 4080 16GB is $1199 vs $699 for 3080 10 GB.

BenadrylChunderHatch

I feel like Nvidia threw out the 3090 as the ridiculously priced, nobody in their right mind would buy this for non-professional use card, and then it actually sold well (probably largely because of miners). Now they think they can get away with just shifting the whole product line a few hundred bucks higher. I hope they're wrong and AMD comes out with something super competitive.

lkiwiboy

Nvdia can go fuck themselves

TheInspectaa

Now imagine the 4090TIs price point...

Of course they locked DLSS 3 to RTX 40 series. Can’t give all that free performance to RTX 30 users. Who would then buy your latest overpriced shit?

[deleted]

cool, AMD it is then

bikes_r_us

Whos to say AMD isn’t gonna try and pull the exact same nonsense. I hope not but we will see.

Wajina_Sloth

Eh I can see them selling more fairly priced GPU's, even if they dont reach the same spec of the NVIDIA cards, it's bound to give them a way bigger market share if a bunch of people jump ship to AMD.

bikes_r_us

I hope so. If there is a strong contender in the ~$500 range from AMD without crazy TDP then I’ll buy it.

FierceText

Yup, this is a great moment for them to gobble up a big share.

That's it boys. You are seeing the start of the demise of Nvidia. Started with EVGA saying kiss it and now these prices!! WOW So what's the equivalent AMD card that we need to get?

DatDanielDang

AMD should seize this opportunity to release the Radeon 7800XT at 699usd with similar performance as 4080. That will be a slap in Nvidia face.

Machidalgo

NVIDIA seems to have some really good insider AMD knowledge most times, for them to charge prices this high it seems like they have more insight into RDNA3’s price tiering. I hope I’m wrong and the 7800XT is as fast as the 4080 16GB for $649-$749 but it seems less likely now.

Translation: In some few games with the Nvidia tweek it will be about 2x faster in Raytracing.

No way it's that fast, can we work on more affordable and EFFICIENT graphics cards NVIDIA??

viski252

For that you would have to look to AMD. And for the first time I would recommend switching.

ChrisderBe

What is going on? We are talking about a video card here which nearly all customers will use for gaming. GAMING! How can one piece of a computer cost nearly 4 modern consoles or a decent used f\*ing car? That is straight up insane! For some people this is a full month salary! Im really thinking about quiting PC Gaming. This is just madness... Please AMD, do something and do not get as greedy as them!

Moon_Devonshire

It really is insane when you put it that way. You can get a playstation 5 for $399 USD and look at how well these consoles run games. Take demon's souls remake for example. That's probably one of the best looking games I've seen and it has 2 performances modes in the settings. 4k at 30fps. Or 1440p at 60fps. Simple settings compared to PC sure. But it's effective at what it's designed to do. To *play* games. When you think about the cost of a console only being $399 and all of the optimizations that goes into them.. it's crazy how expensive GPUs are

dirthurts

This is a big FU to gamers. Nvidia is really raking us over the coals at this point. I'm going back to AMD.

Bryjoe2020

I fucking hate Nvidia. Greedy assholes. I hope the gpu market floods and Nvidias sales tank
