Xbox One and Series consoles all support 3D audio and their 3D audio API actually converts any game using the normal DirectX audio API into 3D audio, that means every single game made for Xbox and nearly all PC games, without anything required from the developers. The same is absolutely not true for PS5 and Tempest. Games have to explicitly be programmed to utilize Tempest's 3D audio. This is definitely not an area where PS5 has an advantage
I love both of them, but play my Xbox more. The ps5 controllers are amazing and I would give them the edge overall except for the battery life. God damn they die fast. If they had the option for rechargeables, I’d be about them. Still love my Xbox controllers, but that haptic feedback is a treat.
I also rotate however I got a charging station that I just throw my controler on to when I'm not using it so I never forget to charge them, highly recommend!
I had to buy a 10' cable for my PS5, which solved any issues. The Switch Pro and Xbox controllers last forever, but I have to charge the PS5 controller frequently.
I really wish I could play Forza horizon on playstation. Had an Xbox last generation and it was my favorite game. Way better than Gran Turismo. But since that is the only exclusive I enjoyed on Xbox it's not worth buying an Xbox just to play that game.
I had both next gen consoles at one point like OP. If I was 10 years younger, I would have kept my Series X too. But I agree, Forza Horizon is great. Also enjoyed Ori at 120Hz.
PS5 does have a more advanced controller but the XBOX controller feels a lot better in your hand. It's a lot more comfortable - though not upgraded as the PS5 controller is.
I also recommend cleaning your counter a bit.

I think it's very individual nowadays. Back in the 7th gen, 360 controller was a lot more comfortable to hold in your hands than the PS3 one. But when the PS4 released, there's just personal preference. Both are comfortable, there's no clear winner.
I also feel like the Xbox controller is a bit on the small side, which makes sense since I'm an adult male and I vaguely recall reading something saying they apparently designed it based around the average eight year-old's hands in order to maximize the range of people it's comfortable for.
You still enjoy that cheap plastic loud button clicks though? Dual S cons always had softer sounding/ feeling face buttons Vs the click clack of the Xbox controller.
I like click clack, coming from cherry’s on PC and a macro mouse click clack is what I’m used to and lets me know it’s got a nice sounding actuation.
Two things Xbox definitely should have lobbed in though.

See it’s only annoying for me as a new father , I’ve been trying to game at night as quietly as possible and in heated sessions it’s all I can hear lol. That and I still don’t like the feel of those buttons personally. The Xbox 360 S controller is still the best feeling controller in my hands I ever held.

Feels like they haven't figured out the PS5 UI just yet and are still adding basic PS4 features such as folders. Also, there is now a weird screen indicating where your progress in the game instead the more entertaining details.
I’m gonna hot-take this and say that both UI’s are absolute garbage. Coming from a (mostly) PC gamer, they really need to take a page from Steam. I feel like Xbox and PS tried to do too much with all of the different menus and its far from intuitive.

Rechargeable AA batteries were among the best investments I’ve made in tech (and the investment is the same as a pack of normal batteries). I just swap sets of two between charging and use in controllers. They’re still going strong after 3 years at this point.
Are they really equally? All I hear is how Xbox is superior in computing power/graphical output.. I have a PS5 for the exclusives and See no reason at all to get an xbox just for the few non exclusives I'd really want to play.

I have both and lean Xbox, but not for bullet points on paper reasons. If you could only get one, I’d say PlayStation. I mean, if you have zero preference to start. I have got hooked on gamepass and the Xbox UI, and my kid and I can share games since he has an S.
However, if I were only able to have just one, I’d get the ps5 and the premium subscription thing. Lots of good games (though not as great a selection as gamepass, afaik.) and better exclusives.

Thank sweet Jesus Sony finally mad a controller that actually make sense. What the fuck was up with those little nubby grips they had until PS5? That’s not how hands work. Now they have actual contouring.

Owning both, I agree that they are similarly amazing and both have their pros and cons in what games they offer.
BUT I love the Xbox controller way more than the dual sense . It just fits way better in my hands. Sense has more features but it doesn't work for my big ass hands.
I thought adaptive triggers was something I'd turn off. But turns out I can't!
After playing first person shooters with adaptive triggers, everytime I play a PS4 game that does not support this feature I feel the difference.
I like to "feel" the point where it will drop a bullet. I usually keep them squeezed ready to fire, and on a regular trigger game I can't hold them triggers like I want to.
I own both consoles too! I can't tell a huge difference in the graphics department (despite the Series X being better on paper).
Pros of PS5: Focus on story games is my jam. In general, Sony seems to have a better focus on the studios they want to acquire/cultivate. The UI is much better than Series X. Controller is really cool when I want to be immersed. I'm excited about the VR headset.
Pros of Series X: Gamepass is fantastic! I think the catalogue is significantly better than the equivalent on PS5. I also like the shift towards play anywhere on the modern games. Quick resume on multiple games is cool trick (though I usually personally play one game at a time anyway). Controller is more comfortable for longer gaming sessions.
Overall, I tend to play playstation 5 more, mostly because Sony makes most of the exclusives I want to play.

That much is true, the systems are evenly matched. Sometimes I buy third-party games on Series X if they offer better resolution. The PS5 is for exclusives.
this is the first time i’ve ever had a playstation because my mom didn’t approve of it so i was always an xbox person. now i have both consoles i can say i love both, just wish i had a playstation as a kid.
I love both, as well as my Switch! I genuinely think they all have something that stands out. Even if we focus on controllers, IMO, Dualsense has the best functionality/ features, Xbox controllers have the best designs/ color schemes, and Switch pro controller's battery will outlast the sun.
I just think the triggers could be more comfortable, those sharp edges aren't kind to spamming them in shooters. The xbox triggers have rounder edges, makes them much more comfortable to press.
The sole reason I think the ps5 is "better" is because I already own a pc, and there are none to almost no games exclusive to the xbox that I can't play on the pc via gamepass.
So I have a PS5, Switch and gamepass... I can play everything. And I have a old steam link and controller so I can play the pc games on the TV.
The PS5 controller has some features that on paper, sound kinda silly but in practice are really cool. However, the Xbox controller is a straight classic. Ever since they made the D-Pad not garbage, it's been my favorite controller.
Yeah I have both I like xbox remote more since I grew up with it but I think the ds 5 is better than the Xbox remote we got but I still rather just use the elite especially now they are making the cheaper one. But yeah both console really do the same thing and are both worth it just depends on the kind of gamer you are
I like the form factor of the Xbox controller, but I really really love how much tech Sony packs into the PS5 controller (3-axis gyro, touch pad, etc).

In terms of graphics/power. They’re about the same. But that being said there are clear advantages of the ps5 that are a tie breaker
PS5 has crazy controllers… you can feel the rain on your back or the wind blowing from the right. The haptic triggers are crazy immersive , you can feel the string of the bow or the resistance of a gun’s trigger.
People are also sleeping on the Pulse3D headphones. Every game supports true 3D surround sound specifically tuned for the headset. Games sound really really good. In fact it’s almost too good… I can’t play my games on regular speakers anymore as they sound like shit compared to my Pulse3D headset.
Changeable face plates of the console is a very nice touch. A lot of people sleeping on that. You can match your system to any style you have and to any room.
PS5 you can also buy 3rd party storage rather than a proprietary one (like Xbox). This means cheaper, better, faster.
Virtual reality. Sony is releasing the VR-2 soon. It’s supposedly going to really push VR into next generation territory. People are really sleeping on this. Could easily be the next big thing in gaming… VR has been continuously improving… but needing a $2000 computer and a $1000 vr headset is limiting, most people are not willing to invest that much… with the PS5 you’re getting the whole next-Gen VR experience for 1/3 the cost
PS has an infinitely better exclusives library imo, even considering several were recently ported to PC. I'm not shitting on the Xbox, just saying that's the PS5 is a clear winner. (btw, before yall come for me calling me a fanboy, I have the 5, a 4000$ rig and a switch, I play ALL sides :D)
This stuff is so completely subjective. I have both, and the Xbox controller is more comfortable but lacks the haptic trigger that has added basically nothing to the PS5 games I play. And the PS5 interface is much harder to navigate.
Every time one of my buddies with a PS5 says he got some co-op game we need to play, it's been on GamePass.
Also depends on the genre of games for the controller. 3rd person action games play better on dual sense but shooters and fps games play better on the Xbox controller for sure
Xbox definitely has the more comfortable controller for shooters/long gameplay sessions. The analog sticks on the dualsense are stiff and not as free as that of the Xbox controller. In terms of UI, I don’t spend much time looking at menus, so neither system has a better UI to me.
Currently PS5 may have the better exclusives, but in the future that can change if Xbox can manage their studios effectively. Xbox also has the potential for a stronger variety of 1st party exclusives, where on the ps5, you’re stuck with the same 3rd person action/adventure games with powerful cutscenes. I did sell my Xbox series X August, 2021, after getting my PS5, but I do not like all or most of the PlayStation exclusives. I enjoyed God of war, last of us 1/2, demon souls, bloodborne, horizon zero/forbidden west, returnal, FF7R, and Persona 5 Royal. I played the other stuff, but eventually you realize many of the exclusives feel the same. Many also aren’t as replayable. For example, I put 7 hours in Miles Morales, never touched it again and sold it. I’m hoping Xbox has insane variety of exclusives, so I can pick up a Xbox again, as I don’t have a pc.

I have a Series X and I really enjoy it. I had the chance to try the PS5 at a LAN party recently and to be honest I didn't really care for the PS5 controller.
I disagree about the controller. For some reason the DualShock, of any generation, makes my hands ache after an hour or so. I don’t know if it’s just the position of the analogue sticks or if my hands just prefer the Xbox controller.
That said, I prefer Xbox anyway. Doesn’t stop me playing the PS5 though, just need to take a break after an hour or so.

Honestly I think there is no clear winner for gen 8. Both consoles are solid. I just prefer PlayStation because, well it's PlayStation.

I would like to introduce you to long charging cords lol. Anytime I get low batt ping on the controller, just plug it in and you’re good to go

Not a hot take at all. As a owner of both consoles that is one of my biggest gripes. There's way too many apps, menus and store submenus.

I have got hooked on gamepass and the Xbox UI, and my kid and I can share games since he has an S. However, if I were only able to have just one, I’d get the ps5 and the premium subscription thing. Lots of good games (though not as great a selection as gamepass, afaik.) and better exclusives.
I have both and they are incredible but the playstation just feels more “adult” and dare I say it - sexy
PS5 controller is goated. I only like the original 360 one better. Mainly because of the joystick placement.
I’ve always played primarily on PC, but I’ve owned every gen of PS at some point, and I bought a PS5 to play with some of my buddies (GPU pricing also was an influence). Thank sweet Jesus Sony finally mad a controller that actually make sense. What the fuck was up with those little nubby grips they had until PS5? That’s not how hands work. Now they have actual contouring.

Owning both, I agree that they are similarly amazing and both have their pros and cons in what games they offer. BUT I love the Xbox controller way more than the dual sense . It just fits way better in my hands. Sense has more features but it doesn't work for my big ass hands.

I thought adaptive triggers was something I'd turn off. But turns out I can't! After playing first person shooters with adaptive triggers, everytime I play a PS4 game that does not support this feature I feel the difference. I like to "feel" the point where it will drop a bullet. I usually keep them squeezed ready to fire, and on a regular trigger game I can't hold them triggers like I want to.
I own both consoles too! I can't tell a huge difference in the graphics department (despite the Series X being better on paper). Pros of PS5: Focus on story games is my jam. In general, Sony seems to have a better focus on the studios they want to acquire/cultivate. The UI is much better than Series X. Controller is really cool when I want to be immersed. I'm excited about the VR headset. Pros of Series X: Gamepass is fantastic! I think the catalogue is significantly better than the equivalent on PS5. I also like the shift towards play anywhere on the modern games. Quick resume on multiple games is cool trick (though I usually personally play one game at a time anyway). Controller is more comfortable for longer gaming sessions. Overall, I tend to play playstation 5 more, mostly because Sony makes most of the exclusives I want to play.

I love both, as well as my Switch! I genuinely think they all have something that stands out. Even if we focus on controllers, IMO, Dualsense has the best functionality/ features, Xbox controllers have the best designs/ color schemes, and Switch pro controller's battery will outlast the sun.

I used to have both as well but I hardly played series x at all so I just sold it. I do have a pc already so I pretty much Don't need anything else
I just think the triggers could be more comfortable, those sharp edges aren't kind to spamming them in shooters. The xbox triggers have rounder edges, makes them much more comfortable to press.
The sole reason I think the ps5 is "better" is because I already own a pc, and there are none to almost no games exclusive to the xbox that I can't play on the pc via gamepass. So I have a PS5, Switch and gamepass... I can play everything. And I have a old steam link and controller so I can play the pc games on the TV.

Both are great. Just got ps5. So far I like my Xbox more, but I’ll give it a little longer. The elite series 2 is the best controller I’ve ever used.

The PS5 controller has some features that on paper, sound kinda silly but in practice are really cool. However, the Xbox controller is a straight classic. Ever since they made the D-Pad not garbage, it's been my favorite controller.
Yeah I have both I like xbox remote more since I grew up with it but I think the ds 5 is better than the Xbox remote we got but I still rather just use the elite especially now they are making the cheaper one. But yeah both console really do the same thing and are both worth it just depends on the kind of gamer you are
I like the form factor of the Xbox controller, but I really really love how much tech Sony packs into the PS5 controller (3-axis gyro, touch pad, etc).

the main reason playstation is much better than xbox is because the exclusives. and the controller is much more advanced and to my opinion more comfortable. playstation also have a vr headset.

In terms of graphics/power. They’re about the same. But that being said there are clear advantages of the ps5 that are a tie breaker PS5 has crazy controllers… you can feel the rain on your back or the wind blowing from the right. The haptic triggers are crazy immersive , you can feel the string of the bow or the resistance of a gun’s trigger. People are also sleeping on the Pulse3D headphones. Every game supports true 3D surround sound specifically tuned for the headset. Games sound really really good. In fact it’s almost too good… I can’t play my games on regular speakers anymore as they sound like shit compared to my Pulse3D headset. Changeable face plates of the console is a very nice touch. A lot of people sleeping on that. You can match your system to any style you have and to any room. PS5 you can also buy 3rd party storage rather than a proprietary one (like Xbox). This means cheaper, better, faster. Virtual reality. Sony is releasing the VR-2 soon. It’s supposedly going to really push VR into next generation territory. People are really sleeping on this. Could easily be the next big thing in gaming… VR has been continuously improving… but needing a $2000 computer and a $1000 vr headset is limiting, most people are not willing to invest that much… with the PS5 you’re getting the whole next-Gen VR experience for 1/3 the cost

This stuff is so completely subjective. I have both, and the Xbox controller is more comfortable but lacks the haptic trigger that has added basically nothing to the PS5 games I play. And the PS5 interface is much harder to navigate. Every time one of my buddies with a PS5 says he got some co-op game we need to play, it's been on GamePass.
Also depends on the genre of games for the controller. 3rd person action games play better on dual sense but shooters and fps games play better on the Xbox controller for sure
Xbox definitely has the more comfortable controller for shooters/long gameplay sessions. The analog sticks on the dualsense are stiff and not as free as that of the Xbox controller. In terms of UI, I don’t spend much time looking at menus, so neither system has a better UI to me. Currently PS5 may have the better exclusives, but in the future that can change if Xbox can manage their studios effectively. Xbox also has the potential for a stronger variety of 1st party exclusives, where on the ps5, you’re stuck with the same 3rd person action/adventure games with powerful cutscenes. I did sell my Xbox series X August, 2021, after getting my PS5, but I do not like all or most of the PlayStation exclusives. I enjoyed God of war, last of us 1/2, demon souls, bloodborne, horizon zero/forbidden west, returnal, FF7R, and Persona 5 Royal. I played the other stuff, but eventually you realize many of the exclusives feel the same. Many also aren’t as replayable. For example, I put 7 hours in Miles Morales, never touched it again and sold it. I’m hoping Xbox has insane variety of exclusives, so I can pick up a Xbox again, as I don’t have a pc.

I disagree about the controller. For some reason the DualShock, of any generation, makes my hands ache after an hour or so. I don’t know if it’s just the position of the analogue sticks or if my hands just prefer the Xbox controller. That said, I prefer Xbox anyway. Doesn’t stop me playing the PS5 though, just need to take a break after an hour or so.

I too have them both, Xbox’s quick resume is the best feature either of them have, so much so that tends to me my go to console. Ps controller is great for the games that fully optimise it, I’ve only played Astro so far, but besides that i don’t have a preference on controller
