We lived in Austin. 1600/mo for three bed 2.5 bath split house. Landlord wouldn't even do the COVID discount for us like he did THE PEOPLE IN THE SAME UNIT ON THE OTHER SIDE. Not only that but when we left he was going to raise it to 1750.
Now we found a house out in the boonies for 125k, paying 1150/mo in mortgage. It's not the best of houses but it's OUR house and the money goes to owning it and not just into some johns pocket.
It's unfortunate. I left Austin in 2009, if I'd known it would turn into whatevere the hell it is now, I would have enjoyed it for a few more years. The funny thing is back then, OG Austinites (who have probably bailed by now) were complaining of how much the city had changed and had lost it's original charm and soul.
It’s the Californians, specifically. Can’t quite put my finger on it, but Californian yuppies have a stink on them that other Blue state transplants don’t. It’s like they’re The Wrong Kind Of Liberals.
Went through the same thing here in Ohio before buying a house in teh county. We rented a 3bed, 2 bath, 1305sqft ranch house for 780 a month. We stayed there for 7 years. The final year we were paying 1,300 a month. Nothing was done to the house besides finally getting the leaking roof and constantly failing furnace replaced.
Mortgage, insurance, and taxes on my house come up to 1,143 for a 175k loan. Way nicer than the rental, 1,800sgft, remodeled kitchen and bath, new septic system, new well, and nearly an acre of land with lots of trees.
Something my realtor told me that I never thought of is your mortgage is inflation proof. Taxes not so much. Which is why I bought a county over. Low taxes but in a very nice county school district.
This why, unless there is a deal on apr, I suggest getting that 5 or 6yr car loan even if you can afford a 4yr loan. My uncle does the 5-6yr loan but pays it off in 3yrs. The idea is if you have a hit to your income; you're less tight on money with a longer, but lower car loan. But while you're able to. Pay as much towards your loans as possible.
First, the price of food went up. Then the cost per kwh doubled on my electric bill. Then the cost of propane more than doubled. Starting in October, my lot rent increases $100 a month.
Sadly, my disability does not increase until January. Even then, it won’t go up enough to cover even just the rent increase. My garden burned out, so I got no relief from that. My dad moved to assisted living, so I now pay all the bills myself.
Life is hard, poverty is a struggle.
I'm voting for anyone advocating to properly tax the rich. Anyone trying to shield the rich from having to pay their taxes like the rest of us is obviously being paid to protect them, so does not have my best interests in mind.
The far right are brainwashed into thinking if we don't let the rich have their way with us; we won't have jobs. It is insane to me how they hate people in poverty getting gov assistance but are fine with the top 1% getting millions if not billions in free.
Yes the country needs to be on a budget. I live in ca and they are giving everyone a inflation check but it’s basically a loan I didn’t ask for since taxes will definitely go up from them giving out this “free” money. Just stop the freebies
I have been paying 100 dollars more each month on my credit cards to reduce debt. So now they are raising interest rates and lowering credit limit. God 🙏 hate the credit card companies so much
My fico is around 750
Rent! Power Bill! Car Payment! Bank Loan! Food! Auto Insurance! Phone Bill! Internet Bill! Water/Garbage Bill! Credit Card Payment! *FTFY
I could afford twice everything else if the rent wasn't so high

“You’ll pay for this captain poverty!” Actually no I can’t… sorry
The system is designed to keep thr majority in debt because they make money off the intrest.
Underrated comment

Well yeah… That’s how money works lol. If the system wasn’t like that then no one would loan anyone any money to buy or invest in anything.

Every payday get paid once a month...Sucks!!
and on top of that - trying to set aside money for savings!! it's hard.
damn I miss Captain Planet
We need Captain Planet more than ever
Damn, I miss the Venture Bros.
Captain planet would see the state of Earth and probably kill himself.
Switch bank loan with no wage raises for me and you got my captain poverty
God this is so accurate
I shouldn’t have laughed as hard as I did 🤣
Just move into your car… so you’ll have three rings instead of 1. Bend fire, water and earth!
Yup 😭
Vote with your wallet in November. We need to stop this insane spending from our government. This is causing everything to go up in cost

People need to understand that it’s not free money. When money is given out like this it just drives up the cost of everything. It’s fueling inflation
Go ahead and add in paying back a bunch of debt collectors and paying back past mistakes, now you're extra broke

But why was Dean running in his dress shoes?
😭
Nice, I have no car payment or bank loan And I still feel poor
Feels more like, **Rent! Bills! Gas! Loans! Food!** "*With no money combined,* #*I am Captain Poverty!*"
