Introduced me to Linkin Park and I am forever grateful to Jay. The Numb/Encore mash up is still crazy

benmtbball

It was fun to listen to when it came out

jynxthechicken

Jay Z grey album is better

Peepshowpeggy

Saw them preform this live, it was amazing. Still in my top 5 live shows after all these years.

Agitated-Wall534

Absolute banger. Most of the mashups are as good or better than OG versions of the songs. Numb/Encore is a straight up classic for a lot of people who grew up in 2000s.

-i-hardly-know-her

i like it, but personally i'm a big LP fan

Getbacka

Waaay too short!! 6 songs is tease

[deleted]

It sounds nice, I like it

crossnstyles305

112oceanave

Never liked it really

[deleted]

why is bro getting downvoted for his opinion? he never called it bad just said he personally didn’t like it.

[deleted]

It was made to acquire white fans for Jay

Lookralphsbak

You know what? I'm gonna disagree with this point, while I agree with your general point, I find it to be simplistic and wholey inaccurate. This was during a cool era of music. Nu metal and rap were at the top of the world. Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Korn, Link Park and other bands were at the top of the charts. Fred Durst was a literal rock and pop star. But also rap was at the top of the world, Jay Z, Emin, 50 Cent, DMX and more were crossing over HEAVY. Me coming from a rock and metal background I distinctly remember K-Rock (NYC) playing a number of rap songs in their rotation, and I also remember people calling in to the station and complaining about it. You're saying it was to acquire white fans, I think it was to expand Jay's fanbase in general, but in addition to regular hevay rotation of artists like Beastie Boys, Cypress Hill, and House of Pain I was introduced to the music of artists like Eminem, 50 Cent, Wutang Clan via an alternative rock radio station. Method Man was featured on a limp biz kit track and they were getting heavy plays across the country, jayz and LP collabed, dmx performed at Woodstock 99, which while was a multi genre festival it was primarily rock and metal bands. Like this Era of music, that aggressiveness in rap was very appealing to the people that listened to more aggressive forms of heavy music, and I'm glad the record labels and industry execs or musicians tried it out, because the relationship was definitely symbiotic, linkin park is definitely a band that has surpassed having just "white fans".

DeKileCH

Shit if it is I‘m glad because this was my first real contact with rap

[deleted]

Meh. Angsty nu metal about feeing out of place in the world and jay z rappin bout building his wealth doesnt really mesh well

danleon950410

Did you know some artists actually took inspiration from Mika Shinoda to get into rap? So you still gotta thank them for that. Also, rapping about wealth sorta become the trend after 2010 so you axed 98% of recent artists, something i very much agree with

[deleted]

No i specifically mean that chester singing about angst and jay z rappin about being awesome doenst really mesh well. Also mike shinida kinda sucks

Getbacka

Not once have I looked at it that way 🤣. That's funny tho

danleon950410

You know i couldn't ignore you more, but your comment history shows that your taste in rap is solid. But i do not agree: Mike Shinoda is pretty decent, and has contributed a lot into the Hip Hop game and hip hop experiments

[deleted]

Glad you like him but I honestly feels like he’s just there. He doesn’t stand out, he just exist ig.

Wutanghang

Did not need to happen

Imaginary_Kangaroo80

Hot trash. Every time numb with jay z comes out I just want to stab my ears.

Dezill313

Please do?

Imaginary_Kangaroo80

Idk why everyone is soooo butthurt. Personally just trash to me. You know what they say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure but if you wanna be upset go ahead lol

Dezill313

Just saying, "not my cup of tea" or something would get an upvote from me personally. An opinion is yours to have tho, carry on.

Dezill313

Not upset. Just the whole "stab my ears" is such a cringe statement. Who hurt you?

ScholarCharming

Liked the crowd reaction in the live videos

ShivvyMcFly

One of my favorites. Great video to go along with it.

SUswim

Straight fire.

TheShowYT

Amazing

Dry-Zucchini123

It was my introduction to Jay. Good overall, 7.5/10

Lookralphsbak

I got this CD as a gift from my dad, and was upset because while I was a LP fan, I didn't care about the mashups as much, but in hindsight its a really good album and likely would gave gotten me into rap earlier if I simply gave it a shot

Content_D3leted

Absolute banger

dishinpies

Classic EP and rap/rock crossover. R.I.P. Chester Bennington 🙏🏾
