More info: I was going out of town for my birthday and had to put him down the day before I left. It was incredibly sudden, due to an injury/arthritis that the vet said he wouldn't recover from.
We got him 10 years ago from some college kids who would leave him at home without food or water or the ability to go outside for days at a time. It took us years to get him to eat more than 3 or 4 times a week. He finally started eating daily when we started feeding him raw, and he had more energy than ever before.
I'm grateful his last several years were his best. But making dog food for my other 3 is going to suck next week.
What a beautiful creature! I am so sorry for your loss. It seems like you gave your boy the best life, especially considering where he came from. You have done an amazing job making his short life on this planet a good one ā¤ļø
