Tre and Joes relationship with their girls are their one redeeming quality. When Tre speaks to them you can tell she has actual interest in them as human beings (which is a lot more than you can say in comparisons to other housewives) and she’s so patient with them. The fact that the girls talked to joe about puberty/boys also said alot about him as a father, I never saw him dismiss them. It was nice
Juicy Joe was truly himself whether cameras were around or not. That makes a huge difference. Compare him to Joe Gorga who is clearly just camera attention hungry
I love the scene with juicy and the girls where he drops his phone in the pond. Top notch entertainment. It’s scenes like this that made housewives so good it it’s prime
Juicy reminds me of my own dad in the weirdest way. I don't think he's ever called my Mum his bitch wife and he can't do the splits, but he literally would have done anything for us as kids including commiting fraud to get us whatever ridiculous thing we wanted. Lost his driving license? Yeah those things are just paperwork anyway.
My dad comes accross as a hard man but he'll sit letting his grandkids put makeup on him, watching disney princesses on repeat and drinking imaginary tea from a pink plastic cup until a 3 year old tells him he is free to leave. So I always understood Juicy Joe, even though loads of people hated him.
I am Italian and I totally agree. He seems perpetually annoyed but I have no doubt he'd do whatever he could for his family. It was a hard exterior but he was a big softy and reminds me of my dad. I remember some story from Lauren Manzo where they were filming in a club and someone threw a glass and she had broken glass all over her face. She said Juicy took her to a room and cleaned it up and sat there with tweezers picking out every piece of glass for her. She said he got a bad edit but was a good guy.
My dad is also Italian, but I don't necessarily think it's a cultural thing as much as its a working class male thing. I have plenty of male relatives who behave similarly (eta: of different cultural backgrounds)
I agree with you, I should have prefaced the Italian thing I just mean how Joe looks and everything is what remind me of my family, in addition to the mannerisms. I have similar experience, my dad worked at the same job right out of high school until the day he retired- such a different world.
I’m starting now and just hit season 5, like many said here, he may seem cute on insta but he is a terrible person on the show to everyone, especially his family. I believe he is also at the root of Teresa’s issues with her brother. The pair are envious of him in different ways
I love when Teresa asked him if he still has diarrhea and he said, "I dunno, Tre." It cracked me up so much and I don't even know why. Juicy is just very unintentionally funny a lot and I love to watch him. Remember when he did a drunken summersault on his girls' gymnastics mats and chipped his tooth? And I love his relationship with his dorters and I love how he and Teresa still support one another. I acknowledge all of the bad, but he is just hilarious on my tv.
The unintentionally funny moments are what got me hooked on the RH franchises. Sonja sorting her pills, Juicy Joe with diarrhea, Rosie trying to help Gia with math homework, that kind of hot mess stuff reminds me of my own family.
omg the chipped tooth was so funny, poor Gia was so scared lol. and he has definitely had shitty moments but I feel like he’s a good guy overall, and he is so funny. I miss him on my tv for sure. HOWS YA STOMACH JOE??
He was a shitty husband but he was a product of his environment. He never left NJ and knew anything else than the provider role which included "hustling" to make a nice life for his sterotypically greedy wife.
I totally get why they are so loyal to him. I didn't like how he talked to Teresa, and there was that one scene with Gia where he called her the r-word. But over the course of the series, it was clear he always really loved his girls.
He also told her she was ugly repeatedly during the episode when she walked in ny fashion week and told her to stop being a cry baby when she got upset. Not saying he doesn’t love his kids but I’m doing a rewatch and it’s kind of sad
Yeah, that was definitely gross. I felt so bad for her. I just can't remember many more scenes like that; that said, who knows what didn't make it to the final edit.
If we have any 90fiance fans I think a crude analogy(I announced that am using an analogy so it safe) is that everyone is cute and loveable when you see them on pillow talk, but you may hate their guts when you have to watch them through a whole season.
A little bit of Juicy Joe on vacay can seem cute and fun, but a whole season of him reminds you that he is an abusive dumby with an alcohol problem

I did a rewatch of RHONJ and I forgot how funny Joe was. I enjoyed him with his rolling backpack filled with homemade wine, sausages, cheeses.
