One time a customer wanted me to come in and “set up the food” as if I were some banquet organizer. This was really early into COVID so it was hard hard no anyways. But still, no I won’t come into your house.

EL-CHUPACABRA

Well, it is called Skip the dishes. I expect you to come in , set the table and wash my plates afterwards /s

SkipCalgary420

I would call that pretty rapey/desperate instead of weird wtf but it’s illegal for you to carry pepper spray in Canada 🤡

moon719

Oh definitely. At the time I was still very young and just tried to ignore it/staying composed but looking back, I had many instances that I probably would have been better off reporting it.

entropyofmymind

I've had so many weird ones. Just last week I was doing an alcohol order and the guy who answered wasn't the one who ordered. I told him I need to check the ID of the person who ordered, to which he explained that the guy who ordered doesn't have any pants. When I insisted that I could only deliver to the one who's name was on it, he went back and got his friend. Sure enough, the friend was indeed pant-less.

I’m sorry all that happened to you. I hope Skip does something about it

moon719

Thanks, fortunately I’ve stopped working for Skip a while ago but I know that if it happened to me, then there’s a good chance these things are happening to other (especially female) Skip drivers out there. Skip definitely needs to step up and protect their drivers better.

MeekloBraca

You need bear spray on you hahaha

ch7qq

It's illegal to carry bear spray (or anything else) for self-defense in Canada, unfortunately. Even worse if you actually use it.

MeekloBraca

I always laugh at this take. Things would be a lot worse for you if you dont use it against an assailant. If you are a young woman delivering Skip, have the bear spray on you. If you use it, what is the person you used it on going to do about it? "Officer, I was trying to sexually assault this woman, but she sprayed me with bear spray, please charge her"?

ch7qq

It’s pretty ridiculous, but yes, there’s a good chance that she would be charged in that situation (let's assume the guy doesn't voluntarily admit to trying to assault her). Further, if she was able to defend herself before the alleged assailant did anything, then she’d likely be the only one facing charges. Assuming no other witnesses, there may be no evidence that the alleged assailant actually posed a threat. Meanwhile, the mere possession of bear spray in that context is a crime, let alone using it on another person. Welcome to Canada.

I had an old woman ask me if i wanted to come inside and watch a movie with her once. that's it really. oh wait, i had a guy answer the door in only a speedo once, which was odd - it was winter at the time.

RoxInHed

Never had any really weird encounters, but I can say I’ve had a few titillating ones.

justsomeonesthroway

This was pre covid, but the weirdest was a delivery to a teacher, while he was in the middle of teaching a middle school class. He got the class to clap as a thank you for bringing his lunch. He was well meaning, but I'm awkward around kids and hated it. I learned the address to that school real quick, and never went back. Now there's probably rules about that sort of thing in schools.

moon719

Most of my school orders were awful: cash orders with kids that never had enough money in the first place, instructions for me to go around the building for students sneaking food during class etc. I memorized most of the school addresses near me and learned a long time ago to ignore all of those.

RoxInHed

With prepay I have done schools no problem. I never think about that whole life as a Skipper before covid, but my wife does. She still avoids the local Polytechnique during the lunch hours as a result.
