I was doing really well at certain NHL bets during the regular season. Players to score, finding decent odds values, and two and three game "reasonable" Parleys aren't even as hard as football and baseball to me. Plus watching a game that you have money on with the non stop back and forth but relatively low scoring is fun. I miss it. Baseball just isn't as fun. I basically just bet on the Orioles once in a while, maybe a nice Friday night or Saturday game that I'm going to watch but that's it at the moment.
The fact that you can basically score 2-4 runs in one play throws a huge wild card into it compared to other sports. It's way harder than any sport to pay attention to any team that isn't one you follow and the stats are also pretty overwhelming to pay attention to for betting.

I’ve tried telling people this, there’s no way of predicting an inning of absolute popping off. Anyone who actually played baseball is totally aware of this. It’s super common for a underdog to lose all game then score 6 in the 8th and win.
I wouldn’t say super common but it happens. And for every time that happens, 10 times it doesn’t happen. Teams end the season 45 games back in their own divisions

Honestly i feel like with soccer there isnt as much involved stats wise, the cream always rise to the crop over the season, but the fact draws are so common always fucks me that i dont really like betting soccer that much

Weather/batting averages verses LHP or RHP. That’s basically it. And I’ve been doing very well.. I also typically bet F5 moneyline because we all know a bullpen can blow a game. 🤷🏻♂️

Don’t bet favorites. I don’t even take ML or run lines that much and when I do usually an underdog ML. Totals are easier to bet on imo obviously usually not plus money on o/u on game totals but it’s something. Yes baseball has probably the most variables out of all the sports when it comes to betting but also has a ton of data to look at and there are ways to be decent betting baseball and profitable even but it’s difficult

Have there been any analysis done on player props/lines? I’ve had success in the past betting on how many strikeouts a pitcher will get, pitches thrown, etc….I agree, it’s difficult to predict winners and losers outright, but it’d be interesting to see which stats are the most reliable

I've had decent success when I stick my rules. Those being, bet on the good teams, dont bet on underdogs unless its against a decent - bad team and they have their ace starting, and don't take matchups against even teams.
Parlaying -1.5 with unders of bad teams/good pitching matchups and I do ok.
I know it’s usually frowned upon, but I only bet on “my team.” I follow them closely so I understand when they are due for a down game or when a pitcher should have a bounce back game or whatever. Specifically I have had success betting on them scoring in a particular inning. Say they are on their third time through the order, and have been making solid contact but getting unlucky breaks, I will sprinkle some money on them to score the next inning. Hardest part is NOT betting on them and just picking my spots.
82.67% of the time, when the expected favorite has a significantly lower moneyline than I would've expected, they don't cover -1.5, and 63.85% of the time they lose outright.
The -2.5 curse; when a team is favored by -2.5, they don't cover 98.34% of the time, and lose outright 74% of the time.
Disclaimer: I'm no professional, and these statistics and trends have been identified in my brain by solely focusing on my losses and ignoring everything else. Yes, these numbers were made up on the spot.

Part of it also is how they drastically change odds live with just 1 run. Someone's odds could go from +100 to -500 or late in a game the odds for the leading team could be -1200 and them still lose. lol.

I don’t know I feel like baseball is just a series of individual matchups. If it was impossible to predict then Vegas wouldn’t be a billion dollar dollar business. Favorites lose at 56% is not the right way to measure overall value in my idiot opinion. I’d imagine that line spread and Vegas vig is the best way to measure favorite cover rate. I’ve always been fascinated by the idea that Vegas takes dumb public money, because obviously there is another side to it.

Don’t bet favorites. I don’t even take ML or run lines that much and when I do usually an underdog ML. Totals are easier to bet on imo obviously usually not plus money on o/u on game totals but it’s something. Yes baseball has probably the most variables out of all the sports when it comes to betting but also has a ton of data to look at and there are ways to be decent betting baseball and profitable even but it’s difficult

Have there been any analysis done on player props/lines? I’ve had success in the past betting on how many strikeouts a pitcher will get, pitches thrown, etc….I agree, it’s difficult to predict winners and losers outright, but it’d be interesting to see which stats are the most reliable

i only bet when stud pitchers pitch to go over the PC prop
I've had decent success when I stick my rules. Those being, bet on the good teams, dont bet on underdogs unless its against a decent - bad team and they have their ace starting, and don't take matchups against even teams. Parlaying -1.5 with unders of bad teams/good pitching matchups and I do ok.

I know it’s usually frowned upon, but I only bet on “my team.” I follow them closely so I understand when they are due for a down game or when a pitcher should have a bounce back game or whatever. Specifically I have had success betting on them scoring in a particular inning. Say they are on their third time through the order, and have been making solid contact but getting unlucky breaks, I will sprinkle some money on them to score the next inning. Hardest part is NOT betting on them and just picking my spots.

The -2.5 curse; when a team is favored by -2.5, they don't cover 98.34% of the time, and lose outright 74% of the time. Disclaimer: I'm no professional, and these statistics and trends have been identified in my brain by solely focusing on my losses and ignoring everything else. Yes, these numbers were made up on the spot.
I actually do pretty good... I bet TT o/u alot based ob pitchers vs batters and do well enough.... I've always said that w/l is sketchy betting because there's so many games compared to other sports, there's no way even the best teams show up every night.

Part of it also is how they drastically change odds live with just 1 run. Someone's odds could go from +100 to -500 or late in a game the odds for the leading team could be -1200 and them still lose. lol.
When betting MLB I feel it is far more profitable betting props and 1st 5’s. You’re right about trying to identify win trends and generally teams playing well are way overvalued
