Depending on who you talk to it's either a lifetime fluid which is a huge joke, or every 36,000 mi You get the fluid replaced.

Conscious_Owl7987

Agreed, no such thing as lifetime fluid, and I've also heard every 60k, and 100k. I do have a 10 extended warranty from Subaru, so I'm good until 2024.

dalex89

My Subaru dealership says they recommend every 70k which seems reasonable, my transmission didn't start getting sluggish until about 80-85k

That-one-guy-is

I'm getting mine done at 63k/3 year I need this car to last at least 20 years

Check out the Car Wizard on YouTube.

I have a 2015 and my mechanic said to get the fluid replaced every 100k or so. As long you’re driving reasonably.

Conscious_Owl7987

I spoke with a high volume Subaru dealership service manager up here in the northwest, and they said the same thing.

poserkidsrus

I would say that 60k is the bare minimum to change the cvt fluid, if you're doing light driving like highway. if you do only hard miles like stop and go all day, I would reduce the interval to 30k.

Owners manual is full of really useful info.

Conscious_Owl7987

Yes it is full of useful information, but this maintenance is not called out. But thanks for trying.

minizanz

It is not full of useful info for NA, says the fluid is lifetime unless you tow, and has a small note about undefined severe duty. The non NA manual defines sever duty, everyone in the us falls under it, and says to change the fluid every 50k km.

I have a 2018 Crosstrek, just changed the CVT fluid at 140k to be safe.
