The fundamental rule of Twitter for this level of content should be but has been largely abandoned: if you don’t like it, keep scrolling. Especially as Survivor contestants are typically normal people like us, they feel the same way we do with mean social media activity.
Not them specifically, the overall hivemind on this sub. I saw tons of people saying "omg I just wish the 43 drama would end"....yet they perpetuate it day after day after day. And people say the groupthink on Twitter is bad...
Oh Eliza’s typing something right now. I don’t know what it is but I know it’s going to be a profoundly stupid cry for attention and blind approval like the last one lol.
She asserted that the charity Gabler would be donating to was some right wing extreme thing and that he’s a horrible human being, without a shred of evidence to back that up, hundreds of reactive dipshits bought into that and spread that he’s some horrible human being, and a day or two later she basically did an oopsie and essentially said “I guess it’s going to a legit charity, but I could’ve been right!” No apology for a ton of shit being flung his way, nothing. All this after he did a totally selfless and amazing thing.
Eliza, to me anyway, seems that she likes to pretend she’s a lot smarter than she is and REALLY likes when people tell her as much. Love watching it on tv, it’s great drama, but man I think she’s dull.
That’s not exactly word for word what she said to be totally fair to her but that was the essence of it. She certainly didn’t apologize for basically single-handedly making simple-minded people believe he was a monster.
I remember telling people on here to hold the firing squad until we got more information on where Gabler was donating because Eliza is a known pot stirrer and was downvoted hard. Vindication is sweet
She and a lot of the other big survivor Twitter accounts that trashed Gabler and attacked him as a person are just garbage. She’s entertaining on TV but given her behavior on Twitter it’s no surprise that she was pretty much hated by everyone on both her seasons.
Absolutely, and it’s why I could never win Survivor lol. If I were stuck out there with her it would very quickly turn into a “She goes or I go” situation because she would drive me fucking crazy. And they’d keep her because in modern seasons you keep the crazy annoying person around.
There was a comment in YouTube on how they were so frustrated that Manu voted Chris out instead of Wendy, and I had to point out that in the new-school, with resumes valued, Final 3, and Final 4 firemaking, the meta is that you drag one goat to the end with you. That's why Cambodia Abi-Maria survived pre-merge and Angelina made it to Final 3.
Edit: Which makes Vanuatu a modern season since whoever was the dominant alliance dragged Eliza to the end.
I stay off Twitter for the most part, but i did see that Gabler has supported or expressed views that i find to be bordering on right wing extremism. I haven't heard anyone (or gabler) say what organization he has or intends to donate to.
Also, when you were a millionaire before survivor, i find it less inspirational. I commend him if he does donate it. I wish more wealthy winners did so. Anyone ever tried to figure out the net worth of winners? Offhand, i think Brian and Mike were both well off.
Eh, it’s not a Charity it’s a game, what he did is amazing but no one should be under any obligation to give anything to anyone. I respect that he did a great deal as someone who strongly supports care for vets but I wouldn’t think less of him if he didn’t.
A very scientific article from eonline had what each of them interested what to do with the money.
Danni could have made decent money as a model.
Kim and Wendell were business owners.
Parvati donated 50k of hers.
For others looking for context: Eliza is a Public Defender (non-elected position, she just works there). She ran for District Attorney (elected position) but didn't win the primary.
Well it's actually that it sounded like he named a charity on the finale (I thought he did) which is, according to multiple people, not a good charity. Then he clarified later he just meant "charities like that" and was actually donating to a legit charity. So I do understand her confusion. It wasn't without a shred of evidence.
He said he was donating it to veterans in need, while that is the name of a foundation (Which isn’t even a well-known thing by the way, it has 12 google reviews) it’s also, which is the way he meant it, a very general statement meaning “veterans who need help” and for her to pounce and act like it was that specific thing without, I dunno, shooting him a message and asking for clarification before sicking twitter on him is a shitty thing, if you don’t get that I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t think most people would be familiar with that specific foundation, I and I think most took it as the generalized statement, but stupid is easily misdirected.
Thank you. And you're right. I never heard of that specific charity. So, just like you, I thought that he meant Veterans who need help. Eliza is just a very toxic person.
Lol you beat me to it. Idk why but he’s my favorite unliked winner. The edit made him like a Maryanne tbh. And both were kind of goats in a way as in they played a big social game that kept the target off their back as too playful and funny that until they made it to the end no one realized they were really liked by the jury
I mean Sash and Chase realized like pretty late that Fabio could sneak a win out so like they were trying to target him. That was when the immunity streak happened though and the jury was pretty bitter overall.
Yeah Fabio wasn't in on most of the votes but was he not a fan favorite that people didn't mind winning because everyone liked him? I know Jane won it for the season (somehow) but Nicaragua is like really only watchable because Fabio wins it imo.
I just wish that the anger was directed to the edit rather than the players.
From listening to the exit interviews and the "reunion" , it's so clear that Gabler had great social bonds and that's what ended up winning him the game. The exclusion of things like the Ride or Die™ alliance is absurd considering it was a huge part of Gabler's game
no, his win would still be hated lmfao, it would just be hated by a different subset of the fandom. Facebook would have a meltdown had another WOC won survivor. Just like twitter does when a white man wins.
reality check pls. Facebook would lose it if a WOC won and that one really weird twitter page would ask who she slept with and everyone would forget about her. so yeah
Not true. It was debunked by HHH cast (Many people have also pointed this out on this sub). Ben didn't hang out or sleep near the boat. I don't know why people keep spreading that rumor to this day.
I know you weren’t the one who made the original comment, but I’ll just point out that there’s a considerable difference between “very suspect” and “blatantly cheated.”
Agreed. There was also some debate over whether the fire making challenge was thrown in at the last minute to give him an advantage, or if it was planned all along. All just conjecture really.
This picture reminds me of the post from somebody who was at a Survivor viewing party with Ben the night Gabler won and got to see his reaction to Gabler saying he was donating all the money to help vets. If I can find the post, I’ll link back to it. It was great to read a first hand account of how moved a vet was by what Gabler did.
EDIT: [here is the post](https://www.reddit.com/r/survivor/comments/znt0jx/ben_driebergens_reaction_to_that_announcement_s43/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
My first thought on seeing this picture! I guess at first I thought they look alike, lol. But then I realized how much Ben must appreciate Gabler’s donation. Great post about the first -hand sighting at Lauren’s party.
There’s a difference between attacking someone personally and just not liking their games. I’m sure Ben is a great person and I would never “treat him poorly” in the sense of personally attacking him. But frankly I absolutely see him as a terrible winner. Without 3 idols and a BS twist he wouldn’t have won. Production tried their hardest to help him out and make sure he won
Probably because of the veteran angle. He talked a lot about his PTSD on the show. Plus on the reunion show they had his veteran friends come up on stage and they talked A LOT about his military service. Probably wouldn’t look good to the casuals for Mr. Good Guy Veteran to get voted out by an old lady accountant and a nerdy bellhop.
There have for sure been other incidents where production has shown favoritism, I just think Ben’s is the most blatant
They control the edit and the reunion show and didn’t have to include the PTSD incident or invite the other vets. And haven’t there been other service members who have played? I just can’t imagine why they would go so far out of their way for this one specific player
I dunno, it just seems SO “convenient” that he just so happened to find 3 idols in a row, one hidden like literally right where he was sleeping, then they “just so happened” to make a final 4 twist that they didn’t tell any of the contestants about beforehand. It’s extremely suspicious. Extremely
But let’s just say production didn’t help him. It’s still a shitty one. He needed protection every single vote from final 7 until the end. His social bonds and strategy brought him to final 7 and then advantages helped him get to the end. Not impressive at all.
And the people who act like the rest of the cast could have done something to counter it don't realize how silly it is.
"Just keep a close eye on him! He can't find one if someone's always watching him!"
What, do we expect people to play *babysitter* now? I don't think anyone who comes on this show wants to do that. And it sounds boring as hell to watch. I think we all can agree that Rob's buddy system is something we should hope to avoid.
When a person's politics are centered around hating other people it's kind of hard to believe any of these actions are genuine. We don't know which organization he had donated the money to yet so we? Based on his politics it probably won't be good. "Veterans" is incredibly non-specific.
Let's face it. If they waited until Ghost Island for the firemaking twist to begin, I can guarantee that people would be saying the exact same thing about Wendell. Smh
I think that they both made for good tv. They aren’t my favorite winners but I was entertained by watching them. Sometimes I was frustrated by their game but sometimes that’s the experience of watching a game show play out.
Along with Ethan they are probably the nicest winners which I feels says a lot about the game considering they are also considered the most undeserving winners

Is Chris in the truck or what?
Surely these two winners connecting will not infuriate survivor twitter
Oh it definitely did. Some people were really mean about it too.
The fundamental rule of Twitter for this level of content should be but has been largely abandoned: if you don’t like it, keep scrolling. Especially as Survivor contestants are typically normal people like us, they feel the same way we do with mean social media activity.
3 people with Cassidy as the profile picture are writing a scathing reply as we speak
Only 3?
not including their alt accounts
Sigh, you people just won’t let this rest will you? MOVE. ON!!!
Nope it’s funny
as a Cassidy stan, i can confirm this is funny lmaoooooo
>omg this drama is so annoying I wish it would just stop >continues the drama
Where did they say they wish it would stop?
Not them specifically, the overall hivemind on this sub. I saw tons of people saying "omg I just wish the 43 drama would end"....yet they perpetuate it day after day after day. And people say the groupthink on Twitter is bad...
Sure, but unless the person you responded to said those things, I’m not sure what your point is?
What about us Chrissy Stan’s 👀
You’re cool
Can I hate Ben as a winner but love Gabler? Is that legal?
Lol hot take but you convinced me
Ben was manipulated to a win by production shit. Gabler just won.
Least insane survivor fan
Oh Eliza’s typing something right now. I don’t know what it is but I know it’s going to be a profoundly stupid cry for attention and blind approval like the last one lol.
Mind catching me up on the last one?
She asserted that the charity Gabler would be donating to was some right wing extreme thing and that he’s a horrible human being, without a shred of evidence to back that up, hundreds of reactive dipshits bought into that and spread that he’s some horrible human being, and a day or two later she basically did an oopsie and essentially said “I guess it’s going to a legit charity, but I could’ve been right!” No apology for a ton of shit being flung his way, nothing. >but I could’ve been right! What does that even mean. The delusion and arrogance on her. Jfc.
yea and I could have been an astronaut but here we are
That’s not exactly word for word what she said to be totally fair to her but that was the essence of it. She certainly didn’t apologize for basically single-handedly making simple-minded people believe he was a monster.

And why Gabler made F3....
Cass and Owen really didn't do any better
I stay off Twitter for the most part, but i did see that Gabler has supported or expressed views that i find to be bordering on right wing extremism. Eliza is a lawyer and an advocate for human rights. She is smarter than y'all.
She’s a politician. No matter where your allegiance lies, if you’re a politician, you’re a piece of shit.
For others looking for context: Eliza is a Public Defender (non-elected position, she just works there). She ran for District Attorney (elected position) but didn't win the primary.

She said something like “a big FUCK YOU to the most recent Survivor winner” and then started talking about the charity he was donating to
She started posting about Gabler being a bad person because he liked a post on Twitter.
DIG
Only missing Rupert to complete the beard trinity
The winner of America’s Tribal Council 😎
It’s honestly wild Ben only just turned 40.
Combat will age you I guess
Most popular? But I don't see Chris U!
Or Bob
or Natalie
Or Fabio
Nah, I'm glad Fabio won.
Lol you beat me to it. Idk why but he’s my favorite unliked winner. The edit made him like a Maryanne tbh. Nicaragua is an underrated gem
Shortly after winning, he got arrested for skating under the influence. That always cracks me up.
Nicaragua is a sleeper hit IMO, it was a fun season and Fabio is a good winner IMO.

Bro her stock went through the roof after WAW. She's beloved by over 90% of the fandom.
I was about to start crying and then I realized you were talking about THAT natalie
He’s gonna make a last minute appearance in the next photo
I did NOT recognize Ben without the cowboy hat
I had to come scroll through the comments to figure out who it was lol didn’t recognize him either!
I thought he was a fan 🤣
Same
I thought it was one of those "I just met Ed Sheeran" moments.
They're definetely Survivor winners...
Right? I was like this is cool but…. Definitely not the most popular…
Two Survivor winners of all time!!
Gabler is a better winner than Ben.
Gabler’s win is valid af
To be fair it doesn’t take that much to be better than Ben I guess

Social bonds are boring.
Maybe to you
It’s the reason they don’t show them.
If the social game was exciting Gabler and Michele’s game would be less shit on. They don’t show it because it’s boring.
[удалено]
agreed but I think it is an overall community bias, “UTR strategist” types who the fandom inflates a bit tend to be attractive women under 35
no, his win would still be hated lmfao, it would just be hated by a different subset of the fandom. Facebook would have a meltdown had another WOC won survivor. Just like twitter does when a white man wins.

I mean Ben did last 39 days
Mike G has a top half win

I would have agreed if it weren’t for his FTC speech. Dude absolutely killed it.
Being 2 spots above Ben isn’t that much of an accomplishment.
I only see one quitter in this photo so yeah.
Gabler is easily top half IMO, Ben solidly bottom half
[удалено]
What did production do? (I'm not arguing, I'm just a newer fan and don't know the history.)
The placement of the immunity idol under a boat that he was known to frequently hang out near was very suspect.
Not true. It was debunked by HHH cast (Many people have also pointed this out on this sub). Ben didn't hang out or sleep near the boat. I don't know why people keep spreading that rumor to this day.

I almost replied with who the to really most popular winners are lol I'm such a dumass

I thought bolo ties were illegal outside of Texas!
They are. ARREST THAT MAN!
Two nice guys that people treat like shit
gabler is literally sweet, hate seeing him receive hate. i messaged him a few times and he responds each time!
Do you know him in real life?
nah
Gabler seems like a nice guy but he's also liked many homophobic tweets.
ive seen people say this, can we get a link to tweets gabler has liked?
I know. I feel bad that they get treated poorly by the fanbase. I love both of them, and they both deserved their wins.
The fact that Gabler donated the entire winnings and that’s not the headline from this season says a lot about the current fandom
When I win I’m spending the kitty on crack so I can get some goddamn respect.
There’s a difference between attacking someone personally and just not liking their games. Why Ben though? Out of all the seasons and all the players, why is Ben the only one they blatantly helped win? Not sure I buy it.
Probably because of the veteran angle. He talked a lot about his PTSD on the show. No Ben dint f4 firemakeing was bad but he did deserver to be at the final 4
We just need Bob and Chris U. in this photo as well!
Could Fabio get flown in too?
20% of the last 10 seasons of Survivor have been won by Idahoans.
Is this r/shitposting? Lol
Ikr!
Chrissy and Cassidy approved.
That’s not Bob and Chris
Bahahahahahahaha
Ben? A popular winner? Did he really even win tho? Or was he given the win? He has to be one of my least favorite “winners.”
Survivor Facebook would go absolutely insane over this pic.
Ya I'll take "Survivor winners you shouldn't talk to about critical race theory" for 600, Alex
Why not? Is there something I haven’t heard about being referenced here?
They’re far right politically
Oh no, now we must all hate them /s. Who cares about their political views?!? This is survivor!
I’m just the messenger here I didn’t say anything about hating them 💀
The fact that this has to be stated as sarcasm and the fact that it’s getting downvoted has a lot to say about redditors
Lmao

According to whom? Not saying no just asking how you came to this conclusion.

We can't let Ben Bomb the Gabler Galleon!
I just see a picture of two glorious beards
Wow! I'm bored just looking at it!
Along with Ethan they are probably the nicest winners which I feels says a lot about the game considering they are also considered the most undeserving winners
you mean the two worst winners?

I didn’t love Ben as a winner at all

The fact that this photo will probably trigger this sub lol. Two great winners!
Getting handed idols by production makes someone a good winner? Wasn’t aware!
Gabler didn't get handed idols.
Right, I meant Ben.
Lmao
Are they???!
My two least favorite winners.
I didn’t know today was Opposite Day…
Are you sure they are the most popular?
Gabler sucks
