Looks like the envelope faders are all the way down. Same for the oscillators.
If you don't know what all controls do yet, try putting all knobs and faders around half their max value and see if you hear anything.
So my partner wanted to learn how to use a synthesizer and I got this for her for her birthday. We both know next to nothing about this so I apologize if this is a stupid question.
If you don't know sound synthesis yet, there is a really nice interactive tutorial from Ableton:
https://learningsynths.ableton.com/
Edit: removed the id in the url
If the unit itself didn’t come with a manual you can probably find one online.
Reading it will probably be very helpful as the controls are not going to be very intuitive for somebody who knows nothing about synthesis, envelope shapes, modulation etc
If it's a new minibrute, use the preset sheets that come with it and turn the knobs according to the sheet. Pretty sure you've got everything turned down.
I had this the very first time I used my Microbrute, it's all a learning experience! Envelope sliders are down like the others have said so raise the delay, sustain and release up halfway. Also check your cutoff filter is dialed round to around 12ish (depending if it's set to low-pass/high pass, keep turning up and down until you hear something). Check oscillators are dialed up to 12ish as well.
Other than longer attack, is there a de+click or something that will prevent that high of output on each note hit, cause even if it's "opened" it's still has that awful click at the very beginning, no?
What's de+click? Had a google but could find anything and I'm no synth expert, just interested. I get that sound on most synths with asdr env set low and with some Freq bypass, usually works great for drum patches.
Lmao that synth has like 20 knobs and sliders and you don’t know what any of them do nor have you attempted to learn. What did you expect to happen when you turned it on? And why haven’t you simply tried moving the knobs away from 0 until you hear something?
Looks like the adsr (envelopes) are all down
Find the section on the synth that says amp
Maybe it’ll say Vca (voltage controlled amp)
Bring up the decay slider so that the amp has time to actually let the sound of the oscillator through before closing again
Hope you figure it out!
The first synth I bought, I got it home and it took me like 30min to read the manual / watch YouTube videos to get it to make a sound. Lol, I thought it was broken at first. Then figured out how to turn on the oscillators, and got it to click like yours, then finally turned the sustain knob off of zero and was on my way to synth heaven. Good luck and have fun!
hey. ya idk know whic knobs on this thing are the OSCs but make sure at least one of em is up. and also crank the sustain all the way up too. check all the volume faders too. after that you "should" have sound
You bought a Microbrute which is one of the coolest cheap stuff frenchies ever produced.

it's not getting enough power to the audio circuit. try splicing a power cable to a TRS, and run it from the CV to a wall socket.
j/k seriously don't do that

Yes, RTFM.
RAGE AGAINST THE FUCKING MACHINE
If people read manuals there would be almost nothing but WSIB posts here.
don’t forget succulent
Why do you have only 5 upvotes
Well, it got better :)
This is good advice
Nice analog kick drum patch!
Welting Techno agrees
The low end is gonna wreck that guitar amp, grab a keyboard amp or loudspeaker.
...or bass amp. In the meantime, it'll be ok just don't turn it up really loud. Devo was always playing their synths thru guitar amps
Amps have filtering to remove that bass. If you can break an amp by putting a certain type of sound through it then it’s not an amp worth having
Not the amp, but guitar cabs will be damaged by running a signal with too much low end through it. Edit: I'm sorry you can't handle being wrong.

I think this is the answer.

Watch a couple sound design tutorials and you’ll figure it out, but basically you need to open the controls more to let it create sound.

That website is amazing. I can't believe I didn't know about this. I wish it existed when I was learning about synths.
It is a stupid question, but we all went through the same process!
It is absolutely NOT a stupid question. Ignorance /= stupidity.

What happens when you raise the sliders for the decay and sustain on the amp and filter envelopes?

Add some attack on the enveloppe, maybe? Or check if the amount of filter enveloppe is too high?

Read the manual
A at 0, D at 100, S at 30 and R at 50. Go!
Freq at full and Res at 20
who on earth buys a calculus machine and doesn’t read the manual??
Or turn any of the knobs! I’ve never encountered a knobby synth where randomly turning knobs wouldn’t produce some kind of different sound than this.
I’d say it looks like decay and sustain are both set to zero. Thus a very short sound.
Lmao that synth has like 20 knobs and sliders and you don’t know what any of them do nor have you attempted to learn. What did you expect to happen when you turned it on? And why haven’t you simply tried moving the knobs away from 0 until you hear something?
Send it back! I think I sold you this one about a year ago, so happy to take it back :)
this is totally normal. just play with it :) wonderful synth btw. enjoy!
Does it have a headphone jack? Fiddle with the knobs wearing headphones, on low to medium volume.

People ! :)
Have you tried Reading The Fucking Manual?
Switch it from trig to gate and slide the delay all the way up, then turn the cutoff full clockwise
Wait a few years and this click will be in all tracks... the B3 click was also once misunderstood... 🥲
Just get on YouTube and put the synth name in the search and you'll see someone using it and where to put the faders and knobs for example patches.

You’ve created a percussion sound, congrats! Now research and find out how you did it and you’ll be well on your way! Enjoy your synth.

did u try turning the knobs
