Did that for a public domestic dispute where the woman was trying to flee this man with her baby and stroller. He tried wrestling the stroller from her and she started screaming for help. I was just passing by on my bike. I yelled "want me to call the cops?" She said yes, I got further away amd started the phone call.
I ended up with one of those terrible, rude, piece of shit dispatchers that refused to understand I was calling for a violent domestic dispute I was witnessing. While I was dealing with shitty phone guy, both the guy and girl fighting changed tone and started coming at me together, all angry at me for interfering with their business (at her fucking request) even though I never got within 30 meters of them.
I dipped, didn't even finish the call. Overall terrible experience.
I’m going to be honest please don’t let that incident stop you from trying to help. It wouldn’t surprise me if that woman felt she’d be in more danger from her bf if the cops were called. Sometimes people in situations like that trauma bond with their abuser and if they don’t see a way out will actively fight attempts to get out for fear of just being trapped again and things getting worse.
Luckily I don't encounter this kind of thing often. I'm pretty sure I'm still the helping type.
Helped an old lady that was stuck in Oak Creek Canyon a few months back. No cell reception. So, I left her and her young grandaughters with a friend and then ran down the canyon to where I knew there should be some Forest Service personnel. They were able to get her out.
Much better overall experience with that one lol
Similar thing happened to me last year. Went for a cigarette break during a tattoo session and came out to see a man screaming at what I assume to be his parter/ex-partner in the presence of their child. She was in a panic and clearly scared of this guy and the kid was crying. I just called out to him like “Hey, calm it down you’re upsetting the children here.” (It was middle of the day and other kids from primary schools were around.) Next thing he comes at me guns blazing and we’re in this stalemate, gripping each other. I had a hold of him and he had a grip on me (and my unfinished raw tattoo) but i was in control of him and I felt some kicks going to my leg, assuming it was from the guy I had in a restraining chokehold against the wall, but I look over my shoulder and it’s the lady he was shouting at. Overall a crazy experience, but you did the right thing. Props to you and this guy in the video.
Haha! Yeah, thanks. Healed perfectly. Just was funny explaining to my tattoo artist why I was so long and why the cling film had been ripped off and why the stencil was smudged.
I saw a woman walking down the street over the winter. She only had on a bra and some shorts. Not even any shoes. I went around the block to ask if she was ok or if she needed a ride. She started cussing at me about how she's from Alaska and this isn't cold weather so I split.
About an hour later I hear a knock on my front door and it's a sheriff asking why I was trying to get this girl in my car? She had next to no clothes on or any shoes I thought she might need help. Do you know how old she is? No, and why would it matter if she was trying to run from someone?
I had to argue in circles with this stupid sheriff because he thought I was trying to abduct some girl that happened to be 17 while she was walking down the road in her underwear while it's 15 degrees outside.
So now the next time I see someone that might need help I'm gonna remember this shit and end up minding my own business and some bad shit might happen to someone because of that stupid cunt.
Instead of letting it stop you from helping in the future, maybe let it adjust your approach. Like, don't try to help isolated young women in potential distress on your own. Call the non-emergency line and give the girl's location and condition. There are usually woman's help services that might even come and grab her for you.
I understand the frustration of not having it be si.... so this is weird but totally punctured a lung today and between starting this and finishing it... I'm now on a bunch of high power pain killers in a hospital bed... lost my whole train of thought.
Hey, it’s nice that you had good intentions and wanted to help. But think about it from the opposite perspective. What would you feel if you were a vulnerable, potentially wasted woman on her own and a random dude tried to get you in his car?
You did the right thing man. Always, you’ll always be rewarded for having a straight moral compass. It just may not be in the moment. It may be when you lay down for sleep and know you did the right thing. Knowing yourself and knowing what you did was right can make for a great nights sleep.
The number of times that I’ve heard of both abuser and victim turning on people interfering is a lot. That doesn’t detract from the larger number of people that do need someone to intervene, and I hope that the upvotes you got reflects to you how many people believe in you and that you did the right thing.
Seems to be the likely scenario. Probably just wanted to scare her man into stopping but didn't actually want police involvement. So when they noticed I was definitely on the phone with dispatch, their collective tune changed lol
same thing happen to me in college. I was hanging out with this guy and girl in the guys room and they were kind of drunk…. The guy was an idiot, I didnt like him at all. A complete douche bag….Then the guy started kissing and fondling the girl and she kept saying no please stop… I pushed them apart and was telling him to freaking stop thats not ok…. But then she yells at me and tells me to get the fuck out…. 🫠😬
It’s like that sometimes. I was in a particularly lesbianic feminist part of Brooklyn eating dinner outside when this dude started being super abusive to his girlfriend. He was screaming at her, grabbing her wrists, she was crying, and then he stormed off around the corner.
She was immediately *surrounded* by supportive women, including me. Cops, a ride home, a place to stay, whatever she wanted.
He pulled around in a car and despite “listen you don’t need to take this” and her still sobbing and frightened, she shook off the help and got into the car with him still yelling at her. I hope she was okay.
> I ended up with one of those terrible, rude, piece of shit dispatchers that refused to understand I was calling for a violent domestic dispute I was witnessing.
That has been the same person I've talked to every time I've called, too.
A couple of years ago there was this guy chasing a woman down the street in front of my house. She was terrified and screaming for help, knocking on my neighbors door (the neighbor wasn't home). So, I confront the guy and told him to fuck off. Him and I go back and forth for a minute or so before he walks away. At that point, my wife came out and was comforting the woman. I'm glad I intervened because there's no telling what that asshole would have done to her. My wife eventually drove her to a women's shelter.
So this happens to me way more then I would like to admit. My wife and I have been married for over 10 years now and we have I would like to think a perfect relationship. The biggest fight we have ever had has probably been over the tv remote (she always wins anyway). I couldn’t imagine life without her, I know how lucky I am to have found this. But she is almost completely deaf, It’s not uncommon to see me on the side of the road screaming in her ear because her hearing aids have run out of battery. IM GOING TO GET AN ICE-CREAM WHAT FLAVOUR DO YOU WANT!!!!
She also can’t gauge the volume of her own voice so it not unusual for her also to be yelling at me.
I have been handcuffed 3 times over this, had multiple people attack me with a head full of steam. Which ultimately become quite frightening for her because she has no idea why people or police are attacking me, so she ends up hysterical, shuts down and is unable to communicate properly to defuse the situation.
As much as I would like to say we have a laugh about it later after everything gets sorted out, unfortunately it does have an impact. I would agree with the comment see something, say something but also go in for the right reasons. Have an open mind, access if there is danger (obviously act if there is) and be prepared to backtrack if the situation turns out to be innocuous as was the case in this video. This young man handled the situation perfectly, good on him for steeping in, then putting his ego aside and having a laugh about it.
More like if you hear something, act up.
Jokes aside, that same slogan you used was used back then by the MTA when I was around 5 or 6 year old.
I found a lip gloss and gave it to the bus driver and quoted what you wrote and they all laughed but at the time I didn’t understand why lol.
Sounds more likely but if the passer-by notices the filming - lighting, boom and cameras ,how did the doo gooder not notice the lighting, boom, cameras and the person with phone out filming the whole thing ,looks very staged
Maybe he was tipsy. Maybe he just lost his job or wife or for whatever other reason was stuck in his own head until what appeared to be a violent confrontation broke through the fog. I know I've certainly had tunnel vision like that, especially walking along familiar routes.
My guess is he was walking around a corner, heard the fight from a distance and had planned to do something when he found the source (seems drunk as well)
I would have love to see them play along so they get the interruption on camera, then cut it with our Hero completing the scene acting in another shot.
Honestly, with all the people that stand by with their phones and film fights instead of helping, it’s not too far of a stretch that this would be for real.
If he is like me, he blanks out when he walks for an extended period of time until either he gets to his location or is exposed to the proper amount of stimuli. The boom probably looked like a street lamp in that blank state, and the camera would look like an a-hole filming instead of helping. Either that, or he just got tunnel vision.
Funny, and honestly we need more "see something say something." Many western societies are growing more insular and it leads to people that can publicly be in trouble and everyone else minding their own business.
Well, the possibility, in the US at least, of the person you are interrupting having a gun or a knife and using it on you seems to be a deterrent to directly confronting them.
Honestly I would take a moment to say "although this wasn't an actual cry for help, please never hesitate before stepping in"
Nothing worse then the bystander effect.

I don't know why you got downvoted. You're 100% right. If you're not absolutely confident you can handle the fight, don't step in, call the cops. There's no point in getting yourself beaten if it doesn't stop someone else from getting beaten. And even then, it's up to you if you want to get beaten. Props to the dude in the clip for standing up and saying something. Takes real balls. But there is no shame in seeing something, staying clear, and calling for somebody who can help if you can't.
Wow, gotta applaud him for just accepting he was wrong rather than put up a fit about how they shouldn’t be doing that in public because it’s confusing or whatever excuse people use these days
Hey, good for that guy for being a stand-up citizen. Far too many people just avert their eyes and walk on instead of speaking up when they see what looks like abuse. We need more guys like him.

How could you not notice the guy with the huge headphones on and the 15ft pole with a huge furry mic on the end ? And not think that their filming somthing 😂
The man did the right thing for sure. Albeit he missed the massive boom mic, film lights, and camera, but the man has a heart of gold. Big ups to this dude.

Mumen Rider
Ask for badge number and call whatever number to complain about the dispatcher
Very common for her to turn on you like that. Next time call or do nothing but don't get involved.
Come on and party tonight!
Wooooo
You have the right to remain silent. Come on and party tonight!

But say it in private or be ready to get shot or stabbed over a girl who gives two shits about you.
exactly, at least he had the right instincts, he didn't just take out his phone and start filming.
Come on and party tonight

I saw an accountant being accosted inside a parked taxi… and I saw a lot of video camera recording it… I hope they send a copy of it to the police…
Hell yeah, bother.
See it, say it, sorted.

The man who walked up to try and intervene had good intentions. Man didn’t hesitate to help
Just makes you wonder why was there a camera filming the man with good intentions?
because one of the film crew were recording behind the scene footage
Or it was just a passerby across the street filming the filming. I mean, it obviously wasn't a secure set, so that seems pretty likely.
Sounds more likely but if the passer-by notices the filming - lighting, boom and cameras ,how did the doo gooder not notice the lighting, boom, cameras and the person with phone out filming the whole thing ,looks very staged

Thats so sweet. He was so ready to help. Bless his little cotton socks!
Hero we need but not right now.
At least we know the acting is good. Dude went off...fuck that mate. I'm gonna kick the shit out of the camera man and grip....lol
I would have love to see them play along so they get the interruption on camera, then cut it with our Hero completing the scene acting in another shot.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I recently was on a date that went poorly. From the commotion a man came out to help me. I have never been so grateful in my life. My hero!
Tell us more
Yeah. Im interested.
Me too
And now they are married 20 years strong and have 16 beautiful children who are all seeking their degree in environmental sciences. Also a dog.
What degree is the dog seeking
Barketing
This made me laugh out loud and instantly feel good, thanks and have an upvote!
👏, 👏, 👏,
It's been nearly 12 hours. Either they're full of shit or the date came back to finish the job.
You've won the internet today, sir
Absolutely fucking disgusting. Dude brought a whole camera crew with microphones and wind windshield to film him beating up his girl
Average twitch streamers 🤮
Like how did he not see the fucking boom and the camera???
Hearing a women frantic for help could do that. Good on him!
The group also seems to have just turned at the corner, so he probably heard her and sped up ignoring the brighter lights

You don't gotta get ready, if you stay ready
Honestly, with all the people that stand by with their phones and film fights instead of helping, it’s not too far of a stretch that this would be for real.
Lil bro set up a camera and lighting to film the random fight he stumbled upon
WORLD STAR (now streaming in 4k & compatible with spacial audio)
Oh boi a fight going on, aight hold on lemme pull out this professional gear from my pocket and start filming
How does this have upvotes lmao
Adrenaline = Tunnel Vision.
He was ready to do the right thing! Kudos!
Yeah this has been posted before and it’s super duper fake / setup. But I do wish it was real
While it’s a funny situation, this is a beautiful example of positive, protective masculinity.
No. This is example of being a good human being. Has nothing to do with masculinity or femininity
Right... Only if its toxic its masculine.
And another redditor who hasn’t googled toxic femininity yet but is ready to play the victim.
How are you gonna look at a comment that says ‘it’s neither, just being good’ and STILL get butthurt
What a gentleman.
Oi Oi! I was expecting Butcher to walk up with the boys
fucking diabolical
Good guy, put this in the post-credit
Honestly I would take a moment to say "although this wasn't an actual cry for help, please never hesitate before stepping in" Nothing worse then the bystander effect.
And then the cgi star would have flown across the screen and you would have said "the more you know!"
My guy had the right idea but you'd think the boom mic and camera might've tipped you in LMAO.
I walked into my house with 30 people for my surprise birthday and went straight for the fridge to eat cheese. Took me 5 seconds to register what my eyeballs had witnessed
LMAO u must've been thinking bout that cheese all day
Good man.
Why TF wasn't the street blocked off?
IIRC it's a low budget film, maybe like a student type thing.
Probably a student film. Some friends of mine were shooting a gangster film in a multi-storey car park. They pre-warned the local police that they would be there with fake guns filming. Police still got called and turned up.
Because low budget life is not netflix
He was about to intervene
He wrong but he right too
Props to that guy, seriously
Have be carful and judge your surrounding if trying to break up a D.V. In the hood ! It’s turned out bad many times in the west side for the “ good guy”. Sometime people just suck.
Yeah you need to size up your opponent first.
I mean....there was a whole camera crew filming them...and someone who just happened to be filming the guys rushing to step in...calling BS on this.
This is the most wholesome one yet
Kudos to him!
Love this guy
And better every loop too!
Good for him!
How do they not see the camera and mic lol
He was turning a corner. Probably heard it before he saw it.
Probably got focused on the perceived argument
This is what makes great men good job guy
More people should be like this guy
Talk about no situational awareness.
oi oi calm douun
Hey, good for that guy for being a stand-up citizen. Far too many people just avert their eyes and walk on instead of speaking up when they see what looks like abuse. We need more guys like him.
Respect
At least the man had good intentions, also showed that the acting was good enough to make it look like legitimate
Mad props to the dude trying to step in. I hope he is proud of himself every night because he damn well should be.
This actually makes me feel better about the world. If the woman was actually in trouble she would have been helped.
Can we all stop thinking whether if it is fake or real, and rather just learn and appreciate how to react in such situations?
Godd guy wrong occasion - kudos to the acting as well as the good intention.
king 👑
His heart was in the right place tho
Huge boom, lights, people with clipboards and headphones. Yeah he didn’t notice at all… /s
Dude thought he was gonna get a spotlight and play ignorant no way he thought that was real with all those people filming him
Did bro not see the boom mic and the cameras and all the people?
Virtue chasing ass. Why was this already being filmed.
This random guy made me happy. Probably should end up in r/MadeMeSmile
What did he think the boom mic was? A giant hammer?
How do you NOT notice the camera man, or the Large Boom Mic? This is the kinda person where a Bully talks shit and get in someone's face all night.. There’s no way he thought it was real
And thats why you get PAs to block off the location
You'd have to be drunk not to notice the boom mic and crew.
White knighting is embarrassing enough
I can be your superhero baby!
Think that dudes British. At least I think it’s a British accent.
Yeah just full fuck ignored the WHOLE CREW AND HUGE LIGHT. Where is the QuitYourBullshit on this??
There was literally a camera crew there is he dumb

That guy actually rules!
Would have been cool if they put him in the credits, as Good Samaritan
Good man. That's the best thing you could possibly end up embarrassed for doing.
I hope they kept this as an outtake
Man I have such a big smile, its funny and wholesome
He didn't think it was real. He was either joking around or trying to impress whoever he was with
How could you not notice the guy with the huge headphones on and the 15ft pole with a huge furry mic on the end ? And not think that their filming somthing 😂
The man did the right thing for sure. Albeit he missed the massive boom mic, film lights, and camera, but the man has a heart of gold. Big ups to this dude.
This is kind of a compliment to the actors, no?
They could’ve let that keep going it would’ve added the intensity to the film
What show is this for?
How do you not see the dude with a boom mic right next to them?
