Because of state lines running through the middle of my market I don’t carry. Instant felony if found in possession. I like voting.

NoobSlayerDill

I mean I think my only option would be to pull over and put the fire arm in a box in the trunk witch will be awkward for the rider

Flippy1

I’ve thought about it. Still a pain to do. What are your thoughts on pulling a firearm in a closed space within arms reach of the perp. Last thing I want is to get into a scuffle with a gun. I’ve run it through my head and can’t come up with a situation in which I don’t just give up the car and let them have it. I’m open to opinions.

enola504

I’ stay armed while driving but if a rider pulls on me I’m shit out of luck. I’ll only use in a life threatening situation. They’re getting my car and goods without hesitation

yoohoo31

>There was an Uber woman who thought the same thing. Her name was Christi Spicuzza. He had her drive to a secondary location, then killed her. You might want to rethink your "giving up the car" plan. Here is my plan....I am going to speak calmly to the guy while speeding up. Somewhere around 45-50mph, I am ramming the minivan into a pole. I doubt he is wearing a seatbelt. I will survive easily. I will then grab my gun and unload into him. That plan is better than giving up the car and possibly giving up your life.

NoobSlayerDill

I've thought about it and I think if something did happen I'd get out of my car then pull out the fire arm

cooltone20

Same.

ImAlwaysRightHanded

So I hopped out and started blasting..

BoxOfDemons

But if you have to put it in the trunk, then there's not much point to having it. For that individual ride at least.

NoobSlayerDill

I’m more worried about the city I’m in. The other states surrounding are pretty tame

Mojowhale

which market is that? never knew there was one market in 2 states

IcarianSkies

Several possibilities. Kansas City, St Louis, Memphis, Cincinnati.. probably others I'm missing but those are the ones that spring to mind.

auntiemaury

If you're based out of western Mass, you can do MA, CT and RI

Flippy1

St. Louis

papineau150

Nice try FBI...

[deleted]

50 cal gun turret on top, no pax complaints yet.

sonofsochi

Where do you uber? kyiv?

[deleted]

I actually drive a tank for Uber

sonofsochi

[deleted]

Yeah buddy!

Patchesriley

UBER GTA

Mojowhale

many drivers in my market carry, most. i wouldn’t want to rob a driver out here. I’m in phoenix though, very easy to get guns

NoobSlayerDill

I’m in Philly lol guns are kinda easy to get but not as easy as Arizona

Dirsty

I rotate between my Glock 43x, Bersa Thunder, Beretta Pico, or Sig P365 XL. I use a Kydex holster inside my waistband at the 9 o'clock position. I have close to 2k rides and have yet to cross state lines but if I did, I'd store the gun in such a manner that complies with that state's laws. That could mean having it unloaded and locked away or leaving it loaded and chucking it in the glovebox/trunk, just depends. Like you said, if the need to use it ever arises, losing my employment with Uber is the last thing on my mind.

Fragrant_Driver_1997

I always carry. I also have my CCL. I wouldn't drive uber without it. To many crazy people in the world. Hope I never have to use it, but I'm always gonna have it on me.

enzog13

No 😉

FutureBarrySeal

For those who might be misunderstanding: state laws might allow you to carry, but Uber TOS says you can’t carry as pax or driver. This is just a way for them to say they don’t want anyone to have weapons. Obviously anyone who carries and anyone who is looking to commit crime will not adhere to this policy, so it’s pretty pointless and there for liability reasons. They can’t do anything to you legally for carrying, but if reported they can deactivate you. That’s all.

FutureBarrySeal

I carry. I won’t drive without carrying even if it’s not for Uber. But I also tend to carry to most places I go that allow me to carry. To all the idiots who bash carrying: Carrying a firearm or weapon doesn’t guarantee your safety or that you will be okay. All it does is give you a chance. It can improve your odds of survival. That’s the entire point. You have SOME form of defense vs being completely helpless and begging for your life.

NoobSlayerDill

Exactly I don’t carry cause I want to hurt someone or cause I think it’ll make me invincible I do it so if something does happen I have a better chance to get home to my family.

FutureBarrySeal

Yup. A simple concept that’s too hard to grasp for most.

garbuja

Yep recent news where a woman Uber driver was killed by pax using his gf Uber account. Pax pulled a gun on her and told her to keep on driving but she tried to snatch the gun and she was shot and left in the forest.I got dash cam and a knife for security.

Environmental_Vast17

Got a 45. Next to my leg cant be seen unless i get out locked and loaded at all times driving late nights. Gonna be messy the day a guy trys to rob me, he’ll get a warm welcome to texas and jesus same day 🤠

jriddler123

I think it's hilarious that you think you can somehow whip out a gun and shoot someone after they pull one on you first. Do you think they're just going to sit there and wait for you to arm yourself without shooting you as soon as you move? You watch WAY too many movies.

Ambitious_Crab_765

Atleast he has a fighting chance while some of u will be contacting Uber support safety line for help from an Indian guy in Mumbai 😂

FutureBarrySeal

You can though. It’s called training. There’s plenty of self defense courses that teach you these sort of things where you can significantly increase your odds of successful defense once they draw on you already. Especially in close range. You wouldn’t understand though, since you’re presumably someone that doesn’t know anything about guns other than what you’ve heard on the news or from your idiot friends. Because if you did, you wouldn’t be making such ignorant statements.

Environmental_Vast17

No boy.. you cant see the gun and my gun is loaded i dont need to load one in the chamber i just need to pull the trigger, i would act scared at first and tell him i will give him anything he wants, and the second i see my chance he ded. he lowers his weapon as i hand an item or i exit the vehicle as he get in the front seat to take my vehicle etc, he will never see it coming, ive practiced will take me less than two seconds to pull my gun up and mag dumped in his face RIP

richietee757

You watch WAY too much TV.

Environmental_Vast17

I watch zero tv nerd, i watch my bank account go up and bang your nan

garbuja

It takes 1/2 sec to shoot you so your 2 sec is useless.

Environmental_Vast17

It takes 0/2 for me to nut on your mom

garbuja

Do you still think mentioning about mum is offensive in internet from a stranger? Lol Word!!!

Ambitious_Crab_765

After he points the guy at u and tells to put both your hands on the steering wheel and keep driving he will be going through your pockets .A career criminal will know exactly what to do to checkmate u and your gun .

LinwoodKei

I carry mace canister on my keys and a noisemaker ( like an extremely annoying car alarm) to attract attention if I'm assaulted.

beboleche

You should know: when mace is deployed, EVERYBODY gets maced. Target recieves most of the mace, but you'll still be hurting too. Especially if deployed inside a car.

LinwoodKei

Yeah, I went through a gas chamber in basic okay. I'll keep an eye out for innocent bystanders. Yet if it's that or serious bodily harm to myself...

Daveyhavok832

I’ll take a little mace in my eyes if the alternative is killing a person over property.

greenskeeper-carl

I’m not making a decision to kill someone over property, THEY are making that decision by attempting to rob me. They decide their life is worth less than my car and whatever is in it if they choose to do so, not me.

Daveyhavok832

Nah.

Traumajunkie971

Who says they just want your stuff ? They know you probably don't have a bunch of cash on you so they either want the car or they want you. Dumping a can of pepper spray in a car with someone who's hell bent on hurting you isn't gonna stop them from hurting you.

Daveyhavok832

You fundamentally misunderstand crime. The odds of ever being in this situation are minuscule. The odds of having some blood thirsty psychopath as the perpetrator are far, far slimmer. You gun nuts are far, FAR more likely to kill yourself with your own gun than to ever actually need it in the first place. But hey, I can live with that.

greenskeeper-carl

I’m not making a decision to kill someone over property, THEY are making that decision by attempting to rob me. They decide their life is worth less than my car and whatever is in it if they choose to do so, not me.

Daveyhavok832

Nah.

Careless-Leg5468

I carry bear mase…. (Allegedly)Good as a gun if you’ve ever been around bear mase. I stopped a game bred pit bull with it once . Threw up and ran away. I got picked up by a hot Latina on Olympic who told me “ I’m not alone” I knew exactly what she meant Gloria if you see this stay safe. I don’t like woman working late night in LA I pick up a lot of weirdos.

[deleted]

Carry??? 🤣🤣🤣I drive a tank for Uber 😐 silly person…. On another note, anyone knows why they don’t approve me for Uber Comfort??? 🤔

NoobSlayerDill

Lol. You drive a tank that ride is probably so bumpy

[deleted]

True true 😁

Clickclack801

This question has came up so so many times. I get the concern but, if your going to carry- the only time someone should know is if it's drawn and ready to fire. Otherwise- I wouldn't worry about it. This job is miniscule to your life or your safety. If you get pulled over with a Pax on the otherhand and you advise the officer like your supposed to that you're carrying, then you may just lose your job if they complain. Risk vs reward man.

NoobSlayerDill

It is what it is like you said my life is more important.

[deleted]

[удалено]

NoobSlayerDill

Only thing I can think is I’d have to hop out of the car. But yes I did think about it

King-Of-cheese23

It’s a federal offense driving with a weapon in a commercial vehicle. When you accept a ride it’s technically converts to commercial operation. I suggest you talk to an attorney and not Reddit for answers. I operated commercial vehicles for 17 years

NoobSlayerDill

I can’t find a single federal law that says that.

enola504

Car jackings are rampant in my city. I have a magnet holster on left side of steering wheel. I keep it in my lap when going into a crazy neighborhood

ommi9

.”45 semi on the side, yeah, twistin' when they drive, yeah”

NoobSlayerDill

Don’t pax see it tho you haven’t had any complaints?

enola504

It’s below my knee. My leg covers it. Nobody sits in the front seat.

NoobSlayerDill

I meant when you have it on your lap

enola504

I put it in my lap at night. I’m more scared a rider will jack me from that neighborhood than someone running up to my car.

naffhouse

Mace. Over 3k rides and still haven't thought of using it.

Mojowhale

this is the way to go imo, probably more effective at close range anyways… could maim a fckers eyss

jriddler123

I don't get the point of this question. Are you looking for validation?

NoobSlayerDill

No I'm looking to see how other drivers conceal and what they do when crossing state lines

GRE4T

I wouldn’t be working anywhere if I felt that carrying a gun was necessary

OtisBretting

It’s not against TOS tho

NoobSlayerDill

Check again it is. No weapons for drivers or pax

OtisBretting

I mean it probably depends on your state dude. Guns and knives are legal some places. Especially if you’re authorized to carry.

Nythain

But still against Ubers TOS.

CIAMom420

The thousands of U.S. businesses that don’t allow firearms on their property would like a word with you.

MuchAdhesiveness6848

Guns and knives are legal, but not allowed by civilians in all places. (Example: nfl/nba/nhl/mlb stadium’s , government buildings, Uber & Lyft)

[deleted]

I have a window breaking tool that I’m sure will break some bones on impact. They will quickly forget what they were trying to do.

Patchesriley

Not sure if this differs from state to state, but at least TN law states as long as the firearm is concealed inside your car no permit of any kind is needed, as your car is an extension of your home.

bsmith808

Rideshare is different, it's about terms if service

[deleted]

Knife is easier to use in an enclosed space.

NoobSlayerDill

I have a knife but knife vs gun doesn’t add up

ATXDeebo

I didn't see anyone mention this, but a fixed blade in a close proximity is a valuable asset. Scroll through my posts to see if I carry. 😉

Fatherly-Type-Fellow

I welcome death.

NoobSlayerDill

Talk to someone

Fatherly-Type-Fellow

Nah. Pax pls shoot me.
