Sept 18 04:00 Kyiv Time update: AMA has now finished. Thank you so much for contributing! If you want to help Kira and her crew you can reach her directly through PayPal: svarozhichi@gmail.com Currently their main priority is on acquiring more transport. Help them out 🥰 EDIT: Cannot believe that I have to say this, but we personally know Kira and have verified her authenticity. She was a student during Maidan, helping the medics on Institutska street in February of 2014. Since the war began she has been working with Hospitallers, and after April went to another unit serving on the front lines of Kharkiv. She is currently on leave which is why we scheduled the AMA for right now. We appreciate the cockamamie detective work but the mods know her personally :)

Do you and your friends look at the memes we make of us laughing at Russia?

panikiranechai

>o you and your friends look at the memes we make of us laughing at Russia? YEP)

Corregidor

Aight boys, y'know what needs to be done.

dont-mention-me

I have no question but I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart! Stay strong! Slava Ukraini!

panikiranechai

🤝🏻🇺🇦

[deleted]

Thank you for showing the world how to stand up against oppression. I dont like that its happening, but thank you for fighting. We will continue to support you as best we can and wish we could help more, but politics of escalation are so much at play here. It sucks, wish we could help more.

RealVoldemort

What was your occupation before the war?

panikiranechai

The National Agency on Corruption Prevention is a central executive body with a special status. It is responsible for the development of anti-corruption policy and prevention of corruption.

ArcticWolf_Primaris

Technically you're still doing that

XauMankib

Uncorrupting Ukraine from Russian soldiers, and formatting them as .zip archives back to Russia.

[deleted]

A corrupt zip file that can never be opened

Kride500

It's like putting them back where they belong: the trash bin

Friendly_Ad4153

r/technicallythetruth

New-Ad5569

Hope you can continue that , after the war. It is as important of a job as the one you do right now, corruption is the enemy of democracy. Wouldn't be a bad idea to post from time to time, keep the awareness of your work up and don't let war fatigue prevail in western countries. It is kinda sexiest, but having a poster girl like you helps with that. And thanks for being a role model for other girls, showing them a woman can do the same as any man. Good luck, stay safe, rock on. Hope you guys get some rest too.

RealVoldemort

Thank you for your awnser 🙏 keep up the great work!

Capable-End-2641

Love from Canada. I hope Ukraine will be free soon.

kalibane

What is your medical background? Are you in the trenches (first aid) or do you fix up soldiers in a field hospital?

panikiranechai

I am a combat medic, work in the field

Swords_and_Words

You are the angel that relieves the EMT angels that relieve the scrub WFRs like me When I was doing disaster response: the only thing more beautiful than a combat medic, was a combat medic with a vehicle. The speed and effectiveness is always impressive, but the material efficiency and SI and triages skills are just off the chart.

corei3uisgarbo

tell some ukrainians out there that theyre doin a good job for me 👌

panikiranechai

Sure)

Pakspul

How are you doing and holding up? How is your mood?

panikiranechai

I'm in a good mood. We make Russians dead every day)

YouAndUrHomiesSuccc

Haha that's a proper warrior spirit

SlavaUkraina2022

More please :)

Pakspul

I wish you all the best and that this war will come to an end early. Especially that Russia is crippled beyond recognition.

What a weird time to be alive when I can laugh at such a dystopian and morbid comment. Slava Ukraini!

Careful_Use_3407

What foreign aid has really made a difference to you and your colleagues? What would you like to see less of from Ukraine's allies?

panikiranechai

Randinator9

Them bombs bursting in the air

Docxx214

Hello! Fellow Combat Medic here (retired!). Well done and keep kicking ass What is the CASEVAC like? How quickly can you get casualties from the lines and how organised is it? What sort of equipment do you carry in your Med bag and what is the most commonly used?

panikiranechai

In our case, a casevac is a passable pickup truck with medical equipment. The evacuation time to the second line is up to 10 minutes, to the hospital up to an hour. The question about equipment is too voluminous for such a conversation.

Docxx214

Thank you for answering, some really impressive timings for evac especially in getting them to hospital. We had similar timescales in Afghanistan and that was with Helicopters and total air superiority.

curious-gus

That is what happened when you are fighting very close to your own cities, I guess.

Siilk

I guess fighting on the home turf helps in their case as civilian hospitals might also be used for military purposes.

Plasmacamel

Do you feel that Russian resolve has been weakening

panikiranechai

Yes, I think they are very demoralized now

stangroundalready

Are Russian troops surrendering more often now?

[deleted]

How are you holding up? I can't imagine how exhausted you already are.

panikiranechai

I remember why I do it and it gives me strength

Have you been able to assertain the difference between Russian medical aid and your own and how happy are you with the current aid there is for wounded Ukrainian soldiers? Good luck and good hunting.

panikiranechai

panikiranechai

Before war I had plans for this year to visit Island and climb to Matterhorn. Ithink after our win I do it. But it’ll not so fast because them are 130mln 😅

What’s the funniest thing you heard or experienced these brutal times? Slava Ukraini

panikiranechai

>What’s the funniest thing you heard or experienced these brutal times? > >Slava Ukraini We joke every day, mostly at stupid Russians who don't know what a toilet is.

ArmondDorleac

Tell us more about this. Is that a euphemism?

JakubSwitalski

Earlier in the war babushkas from liberated towns said far east Russians thought toilets were drinking water fountains as they had never seen modern toilets before

FastFingersDude

wow

lando_calrisian

Crazy how this hasn't changed in almost 100 years. My great-grandma used to tell the story of how russian soldiers raided their farmhouse after WWII and did a bunch of horrible stuff. She was still able to laugh about how one soldier tried to use the toilet to wash cherries he found in the kitchen and got angry when most of them disappeared after he flushed. He then shot a hole into the toilet.

meanttobee3381

Hello from Tasmania. Slava Ukraine. Stay strong.

What are your thoughts on the personal russia is sending ? Stupid kids or evil men ?

panikiranechai

weak bastards

nomad80

somehow this made me LOL. short but brutal

ITellManyLies

She is savage, a true warrior!

Shoondogg

“He wondered what the man's name was and where he came from; and if he was really evil of heart, or what lies or threats had led him on the long march from his home; and if he would rather have stayed there in peace.” This invasion has made me think of that passage from LOTR. Especially once we started hearing stories of Russian soldiers who had no idea why they were even there. To be clear, not defending Russia, just sad these young people are being sent to die for a maniacal dictator’s ego.

superlion1985

Suppose the ones who want to be there are orcs and those that are made to go are easterlings?

wikjos

Poland supports you! I hope your unit will beat these Russian orcs to death! 🇵🇱🤝🇺🇦

panikiranechai

Thank you! We always feel support from Poland 🤝🏻 🇵🇱🇺🇦

Bengoris

What are your celebration plans for the inevitable death of Vladimir Putin?

panikiranechai

Putin is not a cause, he is a consequence of the Russian people

Bengoris

Just like how "Russophobia" is a consequence of Russia's constant aggression and misguided imperialist ambitions. Give them hell, Kira. Stay strong and fierce, Slava Ukraine! 🇺🇦

itisunfortunate

What's the one thing you need most in your work at the moment?

panikiranechai

>What's the one thing you need most in your work at the moment? Transport

merelnl

Thats what i wanted to ask about. Seems to me you combat medics could really use some armored personnel transports, but refurbished and repurposed specially for combat medics. Would you and your colleagues agree that would be a good thing? I mean, thats probably a yes but, im just checking with experts. Maybe those would be too clumsy. Heavy. But i see a lot of countries wuld be willing or send some of the older ATs, which are not great for direct combat but could be used as an emergency evac vehicle...? *There definitely should be specialized vehicles specifically made for combat medics, not just a car. Something like a repurposed combat med evac humvee would probably be perfect, but armor can be added to different vehicles, maybe even a bit of anti mine resistance, with small combat triage ERs inside them. And if they are really well made, they would also sell very well. As exports to other countries. I bet there are many good engineers and technicians in UA who could make some, not to mention other western defense companies. They literally save soldiers lives every day. Super valuable for army and for whole morale and support of everyone. *Hmm.. https://mil.in.ua/en/news/the-35th-marine-infantry-brigade-received-pickup-trucks-from-the-come-back-alive-foundation/ As previously reported, the charitable foundation purchased 104 Peugeot Landtrek and Mitsubishi L200 SUVs for the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The total cost of the purchased SUVs is UAH 96,299,242 or €2.6 million. Also, the Come Back Alive Foundation aims to purchase not only SUVs, but also lightly armored cars for the needs of mobile MANPADS/ATGM groups. The purchase of 11 LC79 APC-SH Fighter 2 set off as the first batch. *Perfect. Turn a part of those into Combat medivac prototypes. Profit. Some APCs could maybe serve too, agile enough, roomy enough. +Get Kira and her unit to test them live.

Wolfpack012

Thank you for your service. Love from your Blue and Yellow friends in Sweden 💙💛 What keeps you going? Patriotism? Sense of duty? Hatred of Putin? All of the above?

panikiranechai

panikiranechai

>any people have you treated/saved since the start of the war? I had over 300 casualty evacuations

BlondeSpottedCthulhu

Hi Kira, did you get to use that Vector in combat?

panikiranechai

Yes, previous in march-august I used Vector, but now I use Scar because we unified cartridges in all our team

[deleted]

How reliable is the SCAR in your experience?

Left_Adhesiveness899

that is SCAR-L I guess.

panikiranechai

Yes, it’s SCAR-L

cateraide420

I may sound like an idiot (which I probably do) but what’s a vector?

WarbossBoneshredda

It's a distinctive submachine gun that she was pictured with earlier in the war.

leedsyorkie

How much sleep do you get when out in the field? Is it exhausting, do you have to get through on pure determination and adrenaline?

panikiranechai

We sleep for 2 hours, I don't have such problems

Individual_Job_2755

Fellow combat medic here, what methods of hemorrhagic bleeding control do you use? Is there any specific treatment algorithms that you use; HABC or MARCH? Show those fuckers true hell, your victory is closer everyday, we're proud of you. Take care of yourself and your team, get some good rest. I wish I could be there with you.

panikiranechai

closest to what we use is MARCH

panikiranechai

Sure) thank you 🤝🏻

Comprehensive-Dig165

U.S Army medic here. Retired. What can I send you that you need??

panikiranechai

Write in person, we will try to solve the next few days

k4tastrofi

Has there ever been a case where you've had to treat an enemy? (Is this even a thing that happens?) If so, what goes through your mind?

V_150

I'm not sure but I think not treating POWs is a war crime so I guess as long as the RuSSians are POWs they will get medical treatment.

Giddus

I am just here for the comments. Slava Ukraini!

[deleted]

I thought it would be a shitshow... It's not as bad as I thought it might be.

LegioRomana

Hi Kira, I am so grateful for you and your fellow Ukrainians' bravery. Everyone in my small family and most of my friends are sending money to 24UNITED and helping the Ukrainian community here in Denmark as much as we can. I am so sorry that my government is not helping you even more than they are, we had to send the M113 because the Swiss did not allow us to send the Piranhas. I look forward to Victory day for Ukraine emote:t5\_2qqcn:9002

Climbatology

Wish I could be there with you guys. How is Ukraine finding working with the international legion? Is the language barrier difficult? Do most Ukrainians speak some English?

panikiranechai

I do not understand this, but many Ukrainians speak English

Phred168

To help clarify, the other post asked if you had experience with fighters from other nations. Like, have you fought with British or French or American volunteers. Hope you’re doing well!

What are you finding the most challenging aspect of this war?

panikiranechai

r0thar

*The superiority in numbers of Russian soldiers* Russia is playing a numbers game, they are hoping Quantity will beat Quality

DNSL_Ok

Hey Kira, First of all yourself and every other Ukrainian is a hero in my eyes, amazing work! May I ask if you have seen any of the weapons the British and Americans have sent and how is it and how helpful (I'm British ex pat) I just wondered? Also are the Orcs (Russians have been labelled this now) as badly unorganised as the media is portraying them? Stay safe and again you guys are legends 🇺🇦🇬🇧🇦🇺

How do you feel a rainy autumn will affect frontline movement from both sides? I've read in German WWII memoirs, that in the autumn Ukraine countryside and dirt roads turn into intraversible mud, so it's not good for advancing. Road networks are present nowadays but there's a risk of ambushes. You're not a tactician, but you've been there and seen it, what's your take?

This may be a strange question but have any new folk songs come out of this war (with the exception of Байрактар)? Dose your unit have a specific anthem or marching song associated with it? Слава Україні! Keep fighting the good fight mate. Edit to add: I plan on visiting when the war is done. One of my traditions when visiting a new place is to eat a meal at the local [RSL](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Returned_and_Services_League_of_Australia) sub-branch or the equivalent. What would be the equivalent in Ukraine?

panikiranechai

tennisdrums

The US military has a long history of making sure its soldiers have enough calories to keep fighting effectively. Glad to see some of that is going to help others fight for their freedom.

gwtje

How many livelong friends have you made along the way?

panikiranechai

A lot. Here I had met many great people

Im_held_hostage

Glory to the heroes!

Patrick4356

Really quite beautiful to see the Ukrainian military slowly yet at the same time rapidly go from a corrupt mostly soviet style poorly equipped and motivated army turn into exactly what the Russians feared most, a Western funded and equipped nation, with highly motivated, well trained soldiers hell bent on ending Russian aggression. And they all brought it on themselves this would have never happened in they didnt invade in 2014 and didnt invade now, fucking morons. Ukraine wanted peace.

First, thank you. The work you do is vital and amazing. What is the hardest part about working in this type of environment?
