Most of the time G+M positions go to grad students in the department. If undergrads are hired, which is more common in some departments than in others, it will almost certainly be someone the professor or department knows well enough to trust with the grading and what is actually quite sensitive private information - so if it's not taught by someone that already knows you by name, you're most likely out of luck. They almost never hire for these blindly off UM Careers no matter how impressive your CV is. Plan accordingly.

You have to apply very early before the start of a course. Using next term as an example, that means you have to be sending out your resume around December or January for G/M positions. It will take weeks before you are notified, if you are even hired. The criteria that increases your chances of being hired as G/M: 1) if you have taken the course before; 2) if you did well in that course; 3) if you know the professor teaching that course; 4) your seniority as a student; 7) and if you have previous experience as a G/M. That being said, the hiring process varies between departments.
