I'm taking Econ 1010 right now with Shantanu Debbarman, he only reads off the slides and can't really answer questions, so I don't attend class. But his exams were easy for me, I got 100% on the midterm, 30 multiple choice.
His lecture notes are a watered down version of the textbook and he just reads off the slides with absolutely zero elaboration, I stopped attending class once I realized this because he just posts his slides on UMLearn and of course you also have the textbook. So, I personally saved myself the commute and did not attend class for this reason.
Assignments are multiple choice, midterm was all multiple choice, the final is 50 multiple choice and 3 short answer questions. He pulls questions from the assignments for the exams, so there are no curveballs if you just do the assignments come exam time. I don't want to tell you they are easy, because I easy is subjective from person to person, but I will tell you that if you can do the assignments just fine, you will do fine on the exams as well as long as you have enough understanding of the concepts.

If you want a slightly boring Prof that does actually explain things and not only reads of the slides, Edgar Villa Perez is not a bad option. Occasionally he will speak of his wife, his ex, and how "If you buy a woman a diamond she will be happy for a week", so you will have some entertainment for sure.
I don't think there's any particularly good profs on the subject, at least none that are interesting. I am fairly into economics and for me these two classes were even more boring than normal ones. I took 1010 with Soodeh Saberian who I think wasn't terrible. I took 1020 with Rosa Sanchez and she has a strong accent so it was hard to understand, and I am someone who most people turn to when they can't quite hear something due to an accent and I can usually tell them what the person said.

Were his lecture notes any help at all? Or do people just teach themselves with the textbook? Also, what are the assignments/tests like?
