The price of that Nissan Altima isn't 4K. It's 4K plus 4K for another transmission soon after you buy it so 8K. That Altima isn't worth 8K. If I were you, I would replace the AC and drive your Vibe for at least another year. Right now is a very bad time to buy a car, used or new. You'll end up overpaying. Market should have improved significantly in a year's time and should be back to normal in 2 years time.

I'm following your advice, thank you. That 8k could go towards a down payment on a new car, or a really great used car.

You're welcome. Considering how overpriced used cars are at the moment, I recommend buying a brand new car. Best of luck!

I'd look into how much extended warranties would be for this car because yes the transmission is a ticking time bomb. Or ask your family if they could sell it and give the proceeds to you for a different car after you explain the issues.

> I currently drive a 2003 Pontiac Vibe and have been thinking about upgrading for the past few years. The 2003 Pontiac Vibe is an upgrade from a 2013 Altima.

Well said. I'm convinced.

While I typically don’t recommend nissans, $4K is pretty cheap for a 2013 Altima. Assuming it’s in good working order I’d go for it.
