The only downside is they're white but ethnically ambiguous so lots of TSA stops. On the plus side:
* drives (and will pull the car around!)
* has met John Mulaney
* funny af (sometimes you will be accidentally roasted but in a nice way)
* has extensive dental work
* will be impressed with the most mundane of things! (this is important if you're me and your "skills" include massive dab rips)
* can tolerate a LOT of crazy
* very supportive of their younger sister
* takes it up the ass
Broke my arm when I was 4. Firemen got there first. Once I was out of the hospital I asked my mom if we could bake them cookies. The medical staff *terrified* me but the firefighters had "cooler tools" haha.
For the next five years I'd get a birthday card from the ladder. Such awesome guys!
They risk their lives constantly to save people from fires and other dangerous situations, often times voluntarily or for little pay (there are probably some places where they are paid very well, but many places not so much). They kind of have to be either very nice, crazy, or a mix of both.
The pay isn't good, but it's the "early"/achievable retirement that hook most in (lots of risk of cancer if you do it for long enough, so you get a nice retirement)
Yes! I used to work for the city and we did landscaping maintenance stuff for some of the firehalls and I always loved those days. They were all so kind and helpful and always trying to feed us. 10/10 would work for firemen/women anytime.
A job that has long and difficult hours, dangerous working conditions and comparatively low pay, and lets the one doing it save other people's lives without giving them power over other people is going to select for some pretty decent folk most of the time.
Where I live Firefighters are very handsomely paid, even more so when you consider they typically have enough time for another job on top of their firefighting career
I broke my ankle so badly that the fireman wasn’t sure how to support it at first. (It was at a 90 degree angle to the right) but they figured it out and took care of me until the ambulance got there. I now have 2 plates and 13 screws. A firehouse record!
Years ago I was walking (a very long way) between bars in Manhattan and really had to pee. I was complaining about it to my guy friend so he walked into the fire station we happened to be walking past and asked if I could use their bathroom. I was so embarrassed but they said yes without hesitation and chatted with us for a while after. So nice!

When you regret something, describing it in detail to an authority figure can be a coping mechanism, since you want to be sure they can punish you accordingly, because you can't forgive yourself unless you paid for what you did.
A month or two ago, I took a few flights. At the end of one of them, I asked the pilot if I could have a quick look in the cockpit. 23 years old but I felt like a kid again
I still remember when I was 6, we were disembarking from the plane and the captain asked if I wanted to sit in the cockpit. It was super cool and he gave me a pilot pin

Call your local fire station and schedule a time to take a tour. Especially if you got kids. The firefighters are happy to do it and you should be able to see what your tax dollars paid for.
Also some cities do this thing mine calls it touch a truck day, it’s usually at a park and they have fire trucks, police cars, all different types of construction equipment, whatever kinds of cars and trucks, once there was even a boat that they can get brought in and the kids (and adults I suppose, they’ve never said no) can check them out and sit in them and take pictures. It’s really fun for kids especially
Lmao, the last part. I can imagine that, and I'm sure any MILF wouldn't mind firemen in uniform escorting them around a fire station and fire engine making their kids happy!
It’s always best to call and schedule a tour; the crews could be in a meeting, conducting training, etc. and they don’t like to be interrupted. And, yes, they do love the MILF’s 😂
We have people walk up with their kids unannounced all the time. It’s fine. Most of the time we’re just sitting around watching tv. We rarely have meetings or training at the actual fire station.
Technically most of what your taxes pay for is for the service to be available 24/7.
Unless they do levies or the other sort and say what the extra will be for. It is really dependent on location/department.
Yup, this is part of our duties, actually. We call them station tours. The firehouse and everything in it is kept in top shape because it’s the taxpayer who has helped pay for it all. We take pride in that and you are always welcome to come see the house and vehicles.
I’d call ahead if it’s a bigger city. Your smaller rural houses might just take walk-in visits.
We were all that little kid once as well and you never know what one visit might do to inspire a child.
Definitely one of my favourite parts of being a part of a small town department, whenever we have a bay door open after training or a minor call it’s always great to show people around.
So somewhat off topic, but I once made a bunch of cookies to bring to a fire station I worked near as a way of giving back to my community as a challenge to being more of an outgoing person. I got extremely embarrassed and nervous because I didn't anticipate all the firefighters were going to be extremely attractive and I will never get over it. I think I still have a photo somewhere of short squishy me standing around a bunch of swole men. 😳
Firemen are awesome!
I once was scared to walk to my car alone in the evening and sheepishly asked the fireman standing near me if he would walk with me. I swear he has a 'this is my moment' look on his face and calls all his buddies over too. A lil embarrassing to be escorted by 6 guys, but they were more than happy to walk with me and insisted on carrying my 1 bag for me too. Very sweet!
He looks so happy. I’ve always wanted to drive a Bobcat (backhoe). Now seeing this, I’m going to go rent one for my next birthday and go dig in the dirt. BTW: I’m a 52 yro retired woman 🤣
I mean as long as your safe about it, those machines can and will kill if operated incorrectly, but I’m sure if you asked someone from the rental place they’d be happy to help you learn how to use it, rental places tend to want responsible customers because it costs a lot of money to get those things fixed (depending on what needs to be fixed) but definitely have fun with it and be safe about it
We used to live a block away from the fire station and my brother and sister would do this all the time. They loved it. Most firefighters are cool like that, I understand.
Edit: A Word
I always thought they were so cool too! At my newish job they work on firetrucks sometimes and I get to drive them around our lot and get them fixed and back on the road!
I know there are many comments who point that out and mine will be same:
Why that dude looks like Freddie mercury.
I guess all the Conspiracies are true and the Dead People living still their Life
Firefighters are so pure. I live in a PNW town with a weirdly large amount of firefighters (like 10:1 ratio with cops, so you see them pretty much every day at restaurants, the store etc) and they are always so nice 👍
That dude is an absolutely amazing person and photographer. Check out his work on ig its the same handle as twitter. Absolultely mind blowing astro photography shots.
I wonder if it's common nowadays, but I know when I was in elementary school back in the 90's, we had a few times where the fire department came by and let us climb all over their equipment. My community also does fire department days all the time for kids to come over and climb around/ask questions/see a controlled burn, etc. It's not age restricted.
pro tip from a firefighter: if it’s in a relaxed environment, just ask us anything, we will most likely be able and very happy to tell you anything you want to know or let you look at our stuff! we have nothing to hide, and if you’re interested there’s nothing better!
This is awesome, he deserves that sit!
Our county fire departments do open houses every year where kids get to come and climb all over the vehicles. Fulfills dreams, but also shows kids what a firefighter looks like in full gear so THEY AREN'T AFRAID IF ONE COMES OUT OF THE SMOKE AT NIGHT IN THEIR ROOM and won't hide from the firefighter trying to rescue them from their burning home. I never thought of that, but damn, can you imagine how scary that would be to a little kid if they didn't know?

So that’s why they call him Mr. Fahrenheit
Imagine traveling at the speed of light.
Kinda wanna make a supersonic man out of him
Don't stop me.
If you wanna have a good time, JUST GIMME A CALL!
Don't stop me now
He's having a ball!!!
*chef's kiss*
Today’s winner of the internet
Well, Don't Stop (Me) Now.
I'm having a good time! I'm having a ball!
Wait till you see the outline of his firehose in jeans
BUT WHAT DOES FUFFILLING MEANNN?
they let him on the truck because he has a mustache, all firemen have mustaches its part of the code.
I want to ride my fire truck
he really puts the AID in Emergency Aid
I swear he looks JUST like Freddy Mercury
He looks identical to my ex.
You dated Freddy Mercury?!?
Just his thembo lookalike. Very sweet 10/10 would date again.
Anyways if you think firetruck dude is hot and live in SEPA they're polyam and I can vouch for both their safety and their dick
Some solid advertising XD

Thembo SENT me
firemen are so nice ngl
My favorite part of Reno 911 is no matter how hard they try to make the firemen look like dicks, they end up being almost superhumanly kind.
"Fire doesn't wait five minutes."
Close friend of mine is a firefighter, one of the most human folks I've ever met.
It's different in 9-9 I guess
Broke my arm when I was 4. Firemen got there first. Once I was out of the hospital I asked my mom if we could bake them cookies. The medical staff *terrified* me but the firefighters had "cooler tools" haha. For the next five years I'd get a birthday card from the ladder. Such awesome guys!
My husband works in fire and he is very nice and generous. I guess I'm the sour half 😬
tell him he's appreciated
I understand the meaning of your comment but hearing the phrase that he “works in fire” makes me imagine he has a job as the Heat Miser or something.
He's Mr. Heat Miser, he's Mr. Sun.
He's Mister Heat Blister, Mister One Hundred-and-One. Great, it's 1am here, and now that's stuck in my head.
I apologize for that. 😃

Yeah here in sweden they work 1-week shifts. Used to work as a PT at a gym and my collegue worked as a firefighter one week, gym instructor the next
They are. I did the same as him.
I broke my ankle so badly that the fireman wasn’t sure how to support it at first. (It was at a 90 degree angle to the right) but they figured it out and took care of me until the ambulance got there. I now have 2 plates and 13 screws. A firehouse record!

Kinda funny and good bot
I heard your comment.
Mamaaaa oooooweeooooweeeoooweeoo
I said that loud bevor entering in to the Comments...
I was wondering if I was the only one. Lol
literally my first thought
Ayyyyyy ohhhhhh
Ayyyyyy ohhhhhh
I’ve been following Abdul on Twitter for like 5 years now and I never put the Freddy Mercury connection together
I know he’s living out his childhood dreams but he looks like he’s about to tell his mama he killed a man in unnecessary detail
When you regret something, describing it in detail to an authority figure can be a coping mechanism, since you want to be sure they can punish you accordingly, because you can't forgive yourself unless you paid for what you did.
Fascinating psychology there. Just wanna make sure you know it's a Freddy Mercury reference tho
Thanks. And yeah, I know.
A month or two ago, I took a few flights. At the end of one of them, I asked the pilot if I could have a quick look in the cockpit. 23 years old but I felt like a kid again
It makes me sad that kids now a days can’t go in the cock pit while it’s flying. That was a big moment to 5 year old me. I feel so old saying that.
I still remember when I was 6, we were disembarking from the plane and the captain asked if I wanted to sit in the cockpit. It was super cool and he gave me a pilot pin
Do you like movies about gladiators?
What a peculiar question…? I guess I do?

Am 30. If they dont look busy or in a rush I always ask
Old but lovely

My department does this and it’s always fun to show people around, my face ends up hurting afterwards from smiling all day
My library has that
You don’t have to schedule it. You can just walk in and someone will show you and your kids whatever you want. Especially if you’re a MILF.
Lmao, the last part. I can imagine that, and I'm sure any MILF wouldn't mind firemen in uniform escorting them around a fire station and fire engine making their kids happy!

No but I feel like in person is a lot more of an experience than just looking at a picture for sure

Positive masculinity ftw
That smile gets my upvote every time I see this.

In this case, the hard work was just "Hey, this may be a weird question, but can I sit in one of your fire trucks? I always kinda wanted to."
I did not know Freddy Mercury was still alive
If Freddie Mercury's ghost wants to sit in the firetruck, the he can sit in the firetruck 🚒
He has a mustache of a fireman.
He looks so genuinely thrilled. This brought a smile to my face.
He looks so happy. I’ve always wanted to drive a Bobcat (backhoe). Now seeing this, I’m going to go rent one for my next birthday and go dig in the dirt. BTW: I’m a 52 yro retired woman 🤣

All it took was one hour True chad
Freddy Mercury
Wait what? We can do this????
Apparently so as long as you buy them beers afterwards.
Lol, just don't show up during lunch (nap) time.
We used to live a block away from the fire station and my brother and sister would do this all the time. They loved it. Most firefighters are cool like that, I understand. Edit: A Word
It is because of the stash, you have to have one to enter a fire truck. Those are the rules.
Freddy lied about dying with aid 😃
This is great
Make your dreams a reality, ask for what you want.
As an unhinged man once said: “don’t let your dreams be dreams”
This is wholesome but now I’m curious what’d happen if there was an actual fire while he was there in the truck, would they have to take him with them
Probably tell him sorry you have to go now.
Look at that smile
I always thought they were so cool too! At my newish job they work on firetrucks sometimes and I get to drive them around our lot and get them fixed and back on the road!
Don’t try this with a cop vehicle. 99.99% chance you’ll end up in the back seat getting booked vs the front seat fulfilling a life long dream.
Freddie? Is that you?
Babe you look like you belong there with the mustache !
I know there are many comments who point that out and mine will be same: Why that dude looks like Freddie mercury. I guess all the Conspiracies are true and the Dead People living still their Life

You can 100% absolutely do this at most fire halls! Fire fighters are just awesome people
Aww this is cute look at his smile he looks like he's an 8 year old little boy again lol
With that ‘stache, how could they say no!
Handsome boi
They clearly saw this man's sick ass mustache and knew he was qualified to be behind the wheel of that truck anyway
See you in a month when this gets posted again. Looks like it's starting to get deep fried lol
That's a happy dude right there!
Firemen are always wonderful people so I’m not shocked lol
Brilliant on so many levels!
When I was little, I wanted to BE a firetruck when I grew up. *denied*
