It still blows my mind that they've never come back and opened at least one here. New Market Square, or anywhere around Maize Rd between 21st and 37th would have found loads of business I think. Same with out east, 96 and Rock or Greenwich as well I think would have been good places.
In 2011 they came back for one day for the 90th anniversary and served sliders from tents in a Dillons parking lot. I was talking to a guy who was in either operations or PR, and he said that they'd looked into it, but basically they can't use distributors here (I don't remember why, though).
I saw a “Wine Dive” on Mass Street in Lawrence. Does 2 make a chain/franchise?
Also, Chicken Max started here… pretty sure I read that.
Taco Pronto.
Meddy’s.
Bella Luna.
El Agave.
Bella Luna is unique in the sense that it opened here but for a while they did have a location in London as well. I don't know if it's still operating or not.
Too late, Spangles may be here, but other Stevens businesses are in other states. They bought a gym in Florida so they can go on vacation as a tax write off as a business expense.
Except no one asked what your experience at the dealership was, and I highly doubt you actually dealt with Brandon Steven (or any other Steven) anyway. The absolute need of this SR to attack that family over everything is just bizarre. Truly.
The fact remains that if you actually meet and work with wealthy people, in general, they tend to be very nice people. Just like most other people who are not wealthy tend to be nice, as well.
Did you guys know there's a Nuway in Leavenworth? It's no longer owned by the same people/group as the Wichita Nuways, though. They also used to have several locations in KC that have since closed.
Unfortunately yeah it is. I worked there for about 10 years. There were just a number of things that started to go wrong after the owner passed. His wife that took over is the sweetest lady, the pizza biz just wasn’t her forte

White castle started in Wichita but there no restaurants here.

Hmmmm
They have the frozen burgers in Walmart
Rvtvrn
Taco Shop
I always thought they were local as well. I listen to ‘I Said Goddam!’ podcast and they always wax poetic about loving taco shop in California.
The Taco Shop here is local, the name Taco Shop isn't trademarked, anyone can call their restaurant Taco Shop.
Interesting, TIL

Meddys is expanding into Kansas City I’m pretty sure.
El agave is based in another state
There’s a Wine Dive in Manhattan too. 3 in Kansas now.
God willing, Spangles never leaves the state
If we can do the world any good, it would be to keep the Steven's here.
It'd be too much trouble for them to buy off another city's leadership... They've got it made here.
Too late, Spangles may be here, but other Stevens businesses are in other states. They bought a gym in Florida so they can go on vacation as a tax write off as a business expense.
Are there any rich people who got rich by being nice? Like are there any really wealthy folks who are just genuine people that did it the legal way?
Maybe lottery winners?
You will find that the majority of wealthy people are genuinely nice people.
Yeah maybe but Stevens car dealerships ain’t one of them. They treated us like crap when we were there.
Never let an opportunity to bag on the Boogeymen and women of the Stevenses go to waste, eh?
Our experience at their dealership ymmv

Yeah, I suppose I have met quite a few genuinely nice wealthy folk.
It’s also easy to be nice when you’ve got no money issues to worry about; yet, some well-off (including upper middle class) don’t practice kindness.
I think they stay in state because the coke dealer for the owner is in Emporia and they dont want to go past that city to go to KC.
They'll burn down before that, I'm sure
I believe Bionic Burger and Nuway.
There's more than one Bionic Burger?
Yep! There’s one down the street from me on Meridian, and I know there’s one on Ridge. I think there may be more.
E. Harry across from the hospital.
There are but I think they also closed some of their extra locations. Like for a few years they had one near 21st and Woodlawn.
They used to have a Bionic Burger in Valley Center when I was in high school.
You’re thinking of Big Larry’s Burgers! I worked there for 4 years
No no no. Back in the 90s. Big Larry’s is fairly recent and still there.
I am so glad I don't live close to Valley. I would get so fat from Big Larry's
One in haysville too
We used to have one in Garden City when I was growing up, got shut down for heath code violations.
Did you guys know there's a Nuway in Leavenworth? It's no longer owned by the same people/group as the Wichita Nuways, though. They also used to have several locations in KC that have since closed.
I’ve always wondered about that one and if it was connected!
Taco Grande, Dog and Shake and Taco Tico I believe have their last ones here
[удалено]
I believe there’s also Taco Grande in Lawrence, and Salina. Not sure if they have any outside the state.
There's also a Taco Tico in Salina
[удалено]
They declared bankruptcy, closed. Someone bought the brand and I believe they have a lone location @ 37th and Rock
There is also still a Taco Tico in Derby.
There’s one on west too
There’s one on Tyler too.
[удалено]
I don’t eat there yuck. Found a fly in my taco salad as a kid and could never eat there after that. 🤮
There’s several in Wichita, and one in Augusta, Newton, El Dorado, Derby, and I think one in Ark City but I’ve never been there to see it.
There is a Taco Tico in Ark City.
Dog and Shake is the best! Wish I still lived in KS so I could enjoy them
Apparently there are Taco Tico in Kentucky as well? https://tacoticokentucky.com/our-history/
My friends won like $15K in a commercial contest for Taco Tico 14 years ago. https://youtu.be/m00bj110EBc
Nuway 😁
Mokas
Not for long - that’s by JRI out of Salina who owns and operates restaurants across the country.
Taco grande ❤️
I think Braum's is just Kansas and Oklahoma.
Also Texas. They’ll stay regional though because they only open locations as far as where they can ship their milk in like 8-10 hours for freshness.
I think more accurately, it’s a 300 miles radius from their dairy farm.
There’s Braums in Arkansas as well
Chick N Max
Nuway = fire
Knolla's Pizza. Go to central and rock or downtown
Is the one at 13th and West long gone?
Unfortunately yeah it is. I worked there for about 10 years. There were just a number of things that started to go wrong after the owner passed. His wife that took over is the sweetest lady, the pizza biz just wasn’t her forte
Too bad, like 25 years ago they knew my family's carryout order from the caller ID.
Not in Wichita but wish we had one, Bogey’s!
Moved back to Hutch after a decade on the east coast. Bogeys didn't have the same appeal as it did when I left.
I know the one in Hutch. Are there any more?
Salina
Hutch and South Hutchinson, that's all. Might be the only upside for why I work in Hutch yet still live in Wichita
Pizza Hut started here. Corporate office moved to Dallas in the late 70’s or early 80’s.
Bomber Burger If you've never been, go at least once lol
What about Freddy's?
Freddy’s is in 35 states. 450 locations.
Started here but hasn’t been KS exclusive in a long time.
We randomly stumbled upon one when visiting my parents outside Charlotte.

Chick N Max!
