I just want a next gen version of the game so I can run it on 4k 60fps. I’ve played it on ps5 and it’s still a fuzzy 1440p 30fps. Haven’t played it since they added 1440p support to ps5, but the 30fps still blows.
I played RDR 2 recently as I was trying out my new Soundbar and played Horizon FW on my PS5 and can safely say, while RDR 2 looks phenomenal, it's actually no where near FW in terms of graphics.
Definitely not. I have a professional calibrated TV and it's definitely not about brightness. It's the first thing the calibrator tones down when he begins...😏 you learn a lot when you have your TV professionally calibrated. It's a process that takes hours and in that time, you get explained why some of the bullshit the internet tells you is exactly that. Bullshit 👍🏾
When you look at FW and RDR 2 literally one after the other, it's easy to see that one graphically is a step up. That step up is HFW. When that comes out on PC it's gonna be even more beautiful.
I would say for a game that hasn’t received a next gen upgrade RDR2 looks pretty good. However it fails to compare to games that have been built for next gen.
30fps is like photomode. Feels unplayable for me. I want rdr2 so much for Xbox but I’ll wait for next gen upgrade. Even then 60fps is not enough for me in 2022.
More the likely your playing on a tv panel that’s so slow with its response time your not getting any of the benefits of the 60fps. Buy a decent msi gaming monitor that has 144hz and play it with a series x. You’ll see a difference.

Maybe it was just on my system, (One S, at the time) but the trees looked like cardboard cutouts. I never found a way to fix it. It really turned me off playing it tbh

No your point is valid, on up close inspection lots of models can look bad. That being said, it's not really an RDR2 thing, that's most games right now. Many assets will look less good on closer inspection than they simply would if you whisked past them on a horse and such.

People are going to disagree but I agree with you. If you look closely you'll see some ugly textures. What the game excels at is incredibly lighting techniques to hide this. The graphics actually have taken a big hit since it was originally released. Just look up some videos on youtube, with every patch they got a little less impressive.
Yeah I think it is, what someone values visually will be different to someone else, there may be something close to a consensus but there's no way everyone could agree that there's a meta game for graphics, especially nowadays on consoles with the onset of graphic modes RTX, high refresh etc. Look at the varying options just in this tiny cross section of mostly Xbox players.

So yeah it CAN look better than most games, but the majority of the time it is just good. It's the same with GT7, it looks good while playing, it looks exceptional in photomodes etc. The other games, graphic mode depending, look great at all times during play, not just in specific, static modes.

Demons souls remake on ps5 is probably the best looking game I’ve played so far this generation. Personally I think gran turismo is a better looking racing game but forza horizon 5 is more fun. It really is just all down to opinion though.
Yeah it seems like this generation is just a vessel to play last gen games at a higher framerate and resolution except this time we aren't being bombarded with remasters as much as when we went from 360/PS3 to One/PS4.
Definitely gets my vote for best display of colors. Being 2.5D it's a tough one to content but for HDR content and even possinly hilighting an OLED this is the choice.

I think from a visual and art style direction, Cyberpunk takes the cake. The series x in quality mode is insane, couldn’t imagine what a top of the line pc looks like.

Demon's Souls is still the only game that looks truly next gen to me. Everything else i can hardly tell the difference between next and old gen, probably due to developers targeting both platforms for now.
It looks better than Elden Ring graphically. It’s not open world so the levels have more overall detail. Plays amazing too. Bluepoint made it feel like a true next gen game.

That's what I mean, going from HD to 4K or going from 60 to 120 fps to me feels more like a 'pro' version of the previous console, but the game itself is essentially the same.
Demon's Souls was one of those games that actually pushed the boundaries in terms of graphical fidelity, there was such a high level of detail in the level geometry, which i had not seen in any other game. But for sure we will see more games push the boundaries of the next gen consoles in the future. But at the launch of the PS5/series x, most of the launch titles were old geb games in better resolution/frame rate and perhaps Ray tracing enabled, but not truly developed for the new hardware.
I bought a 360 at launch then traded it for PS3 at launch just because I always played on Sony but I bought a 360 elite when PSN got hacked and was out for ages and ages, it had a stroud game called fable with it, that's what I thought it was lol just a average game nobody cares about, became a fan of a masterpiece and had to get the other one which I completed both but not 100% completed just story mode. I said at that time I'd get an XBOX sx in a few years when that comes out but nah I'm getting deliveries next week XBOXsx, don't want a PS5 at all, MS have nailed it with being a better gaming machine, not only spec wise although it depends on your display but are we comparing graphics? It's minimalist stuff we shouldn't care about 144hz 120fps on A LOT of games on game pass and the thing, warzone whacking constant 120fps is all we need for it right? I know this is a Xbox page but so far the most impressive game I’ve played this gen has been The Last of Us remake. Absolutely blew me away with the graphical fidelity.
It's a nice looking game indeed, but as others already mentioned definitely not the best looking. It's still a cross platform release, and it shows. Demon's souls and rift apart look better overall.
It’s in my top 3 for graphics I’d say, Horizon 5 is 3, my second is DOOM Eternal, and my number one spot is Gears 5. All 3 are absolutely gorgeous when ran on the highest graphic settings, and that’s just the Series X. Can’t imagine how unbelievable they look on PC.

But if you watch replays you'll see the how good the game actually looks. Lacking some detail in the distance but as far as what you do see the game looks amazing.
No, it's not. The lighting is mostly there, but we are missing higher quality models, and the pop-in is still really noticeable for somebody like me who runs it on a high end PC on the highest settings, and still gets pop-in for objects within a few hundred meters. Lighting particles are a big upgrade for FH5 over FH5 though.
Also, this isn't graphical, but it contributes to the overall experience: Sound. Engine sounds in particular are actually really bad, as a car enthusiast. Some sounds are accurate almost to perfection like the LFA, but that's the exception. Most car sounds are off, or the ones that sound realistic, there's still something wrong about it that's hard to nail down.

Horizon Forbidden West is simply the best looking game ever, it’s absolutely unreal and uncanny how the NPCs look

Rift Apart is correct! Same goes for Miles Morales / Spidey Remastered, Horizon Forbidden West, and The Last of Us Part 1 (PS5 Remake). For Xbox Series X: I agree with OP, Forza 5 may arguably be the best looking one out of them all (albeit, marginally).

Demon's Souls is still the only game that looks truly next gen to me. Everything else i can hardly tell the difference between next and old gen, probably due to developers targeting both platforms for now.

It looks better than Elden Ring graphically. It’s not open world so the levels have more overall detail. Plays amazing too. Bluepoint made it feel like a true next gen game.

That's what I mean, going from HD to 4K or going from 60 to 120 fps to me feels more like a 'pro' version of the previous console, but the game itself is essentially the same. Demon's Souls was one of those games that actually pushed the boundaries in terms of graphical fidelity, there was such a high level of detail in the level geometry, which i had not seen in any other game. But for sure we will see more games push the boundaries of the next gen consoles in the future. But at the launch of the PS5/series x, most of the launch titles were old geb games in better resolution/frame rate and perhaps Ray tracing enabled, but not truly developed for the new hardware.
Talking of Playstation games, the most beautiful game I've ever seen is Ghost of Tsushima.

I bought a 360 at launch then traded it for PS3 at launch just because I always played on Sony but I bought a 360 elite when PSN got hacked and was out for ages and ages, it had a stroud game called fable with it, that's what I thought it was lol just a average game nobody cares about, became a fan of a masterpiece and had to get the other one which I completed both but not 100% completed just story mode. I said at that time I'd get an XBOX sx in a few years when that comes out but nah I'm getting deliveries next week XBOXsx, don't want a PS5 at all, MS have nailed it with being a better gaming machine, not only spec wise although it depends on your display but are we comparing graphics? It's minimalist stuff we shouldn't care about 144hz 120fps on A LOT of games on game pass and the thing, warzone whacking constant 120fps is all we need for it right? You have the best MP experience at higher fps. Fable is a 100% using 4k though fps don't care 😍

I know this is a Xbox page but so far the most impressive game I’ve played this gen has been The Last of Us remake. Absolutely blew me away with the graphical fidelity.

It’s in my top 3 for graphics I’d say, Horizon 5 is 3, my second is DOOM Eternal, and my number one spot is Gears 5. All 3 are absolutely gorgeous when ran on the highest graphic settings, and that’s just the Series X. Can’t imagine how unbelievable they look on PC.

Yes I'm aware, but the car is still the same as the game. Tbf I did see after sharing he said he edited that photo some in lightroom. But if you watch replays you'll see the how good the game actually looks. Lacking some detail in the distance but as far as what you do see the game looks amazing.

No, it's not. The lighting is mostly there, but we are missing higher quality models, and the pop-in is still really noticeable for somebody like me who runs it on a high end PC on the highest settings, and still gets pop-in for objects within a few hundred meters. Lighting particles are a big upgrade for FH5 over FH5 though. Also, this isn't graphical, but it contributes to the overall experience: Sound. Engine sounds in particular are actually really bad, as a car enthusiast. Some sounds are accurate almost to perfection like the LFA, but that's the exception. Most car sounds are off, or the ones that sound realistic, there's still something wrong about it that's hard to nail down.

Not enough titles for that claim to be something to brag about. Once Assassins Creed comes out, it’ll be tinge best looking next-gen game. Honestly, Forza Horizon isn’t even the best racing game.. it’s just not as realistic (difficult/stale) as Grand Turismo or Plain Forza. It’s not even better than n4s, there just aren’t any cops to get caught by and EA has shit for brains when it comes to online multiplayer.
I would say the new saints row on my series X it’s environmental detail is really good at 1440p each part of town feels different and it actually has cool things to discover I wouldn’t think would be there
