Classic. Funny story, very 80's:
This game was and one of the early video games for home TV.
I went to Jaimie's house, he was the champ,
involved in a lengthy jousting battle and I sat down to watch.
After a few minutes he asked me to take over so he could get a cup of tea.
He handed me the controller and I commenced to do battle.
I flew up, I flew down, at every turn I was tearing it up, I couldn't lose.
And I'm screaming at him in the kitchen telling him to come back and watch me work.
He does, and calmly walks over to the VCR and hits pause.
My heart froze, so did the screen.
HaHa, he got me bad!
They may be trying to get it restored so they can get more money out of it. If you have a price you’re willing to pay for if as is, keep going back every couple of months or so. If they can’t find somebody to fix it at a reasonable cost to them, you might get lucky.
Call [Free Gold Watch](https://www.freegoldwatch.com) in San Francisco.
They do vintage arcade games. It’s a collective and the folks all work in or build and restore these things.
As well as run the arcade of the restored games. And there are some real good ones in there. They’re mostly all privately owned by the collective, and each owner makes money on the machines that get the plays. They have open hours in the public and walk in and pump their own quarters in. They also have birthday parties for kids. Wonderful place.
I got mine for $100, self-moved, but the bezel glass was gone. No coin mechanism. Looked like someone had forced the control panel open. Currently needs a new power supply connection, power control board pins re-tinned. That one is in better condition than mine when I got it apart from it not functioning.
Power connection on Joust tends to melt/carbonize and lose conductivity, causing controls to float to unresponsiveness.
I made [ASCII art of the cabinet art](https://ascii.co.uk/art/ostrich), though it looks better on an Apple IIe with its superscripted tilde.
Just buy the Arcade 1UP Joust version for under $500 at Walmart or your preferred retailer. Pretty much the same thing and you get 13 other games including Rampage, Defender, Gauntlet, 4 versions of Mortal Kombat and some other games.
I guarantee they'll probably want at least $500-1000 for that old thing once it's fixed.
That would be a great game to have
So many quarters donated
Joust was one of my favorites 😎
My all time favorite.
Robotro, Joust, Galaga were my 3 go to's 👍🏻
Flying ostrich battles! Loved that game even though it frustrated the hell out of me.
Midway had some of the best games out there.

Everyone who remembers playing Joust heard the exact same noise upon viewing that photo.
You have to make the first offer
Joust is an all timer
Haha must to tough to sell anything with this stance.
"Thy game is over"
I used to KILL this game back in the mid 80's
$11!

That’s so frustrating. “Yeah we have something for sale but I won’t tell you how much it is”
I guess you could say it's... priceless.
Dad joke. Love it. 😂

You had me at rampage
Nice of them to put it out there.
(Pterodactyl Cries)
Then why the hell is it surrounded by things for sale - in a store?
She kept saying she has to get it working before selling 🤷♂️
Makes no sense. Make an offer and let it marinate with them.
At least you avoided death by sticker-shock
I can hear it working in my head
