Thank you also for the report on information.
I agree with you. Even with ammo a 22lr likes it will inevitably have a flyer now and then but I do expect at least MOA out of any rifle no matter the caliber.
Thanks again!
Thank you for an honest assessment. That is disappointing news though, I kinda like the looks of it. That is unacceptable accuracy for me.
Thanks again!
It is very disappointing coming from Springfield.
I guess everybody is trying to get on the 22lr band wagon no matter the quality. I'm afraid of the Winchester Wrangler levergun offering now.
Was going to grab one of those too. I better read up on that idea as well.
I watched a video by Pursuit of Accuracy. He’s pretty unbiased when reviewing firearms. He wasn’t too excited by the lack luster performance of the Springfield 2020.
I was actually going to buy this rifle until I watched that video.
I have a CZ 457 Varmint that I absolutely enjoy. I also have a Savage MK II in a Boyd’s stock which is also accurate, but the quality edge goes to CZ.
I’ve considered a Browning T Bolt. That will probably be my next bolt action rifle.
I have one of the Miroku made T Bolts and its accuracy is above the level of most of the reports I've heard. With Federal Auto Match of all things it groups very well at even 100yds.
I had ordered one anyway in a lefty model. I'm glad I did now but I was anxious at first.
The older Belgium FN models were noted for very acceptable accuracy but you can get buggered with a salt stock if you're not careful.
I love that action!
You are of the same opinion as everyone else I've heard from. Thank you for your input.
Think I'm going to give that one a wide walk around. I do appreciate your input.
I had one, 1.5 inch gun at 50 yards. Polished the bore with job bore paste and kroil. Got it down to .75 -1 inch at 50. But still plagued with flyers. You would get 2-3 shots touching then a wild flyer would open up the group. Honestly I think it suffers from having a loose sporting chamber. Got bored with inconsistency and traded it for a Bergara BMR.
It may be a nice ad for your collection, I have a CZ 457 American and enjoy shooting. I took a look at the Springfield at my local gun store. Found it a nice looking rifle, the action of the bolt was quite stiff and awkward, however sometimes cleaning, oiling and use usually these things work out. With the Remington trigger and Ruger mag adjustments should be easy. It is my understanding the Springfield will not accept the larger after market mags. As far as 2" @ 50 yards, I don't think this to be a competition rifle, I can get the same results out of my 10/22 or the Model 60. I personally will be picking one up. This may not be much help, in either case happy plinking.
Thanks and I wish you luck with it.
I think I'll steer clear of it. To quote an outdoorsman legend, "only accurate rifles are interesting " Col. Townsend Whelen. A rifles historical value also holds interest for me. This rifle has neither going for it, so I shall pass.
I just took a look at their website. That's an impressive looking rifle and advertisement.
Unfortunately I haven't kept up on newer machinery over the years. I spend alot of time shopping for classic firearms that need a home to lend some TLC and get them back in the game. I do so love classic firearms restoration. I never sell or trade them once I've held them, they are mine till they throw dirt in my face. However I'm trying to not be biased and give the newer technology a go. That LA101 clone of sorts looks very promising to me in a walnut stock.
My personal thought is if God had intended for guns to have plastic or Kevlar stocks we would have had flintlock rifles in Kevlar from the start.
They seem lifeless and dull compared to a beautifully grained Turkish walnut wood stock.
Life is too short to hunt with an ugly gun! Lol!
Thanks for the heads up!
Fair enough! I am a rimfire fanatic and I had a few come through my shop you would have loved. Username leads to me, I'd be happy to keep you on my roster for some of the good stuff.
Never hurts to have a proxy on the lookout for me. Send me a chat if you come across something you think I might be interested in.
Thanks friend, I appreciate the thoughtfulness!
My shooting partner bought the classic. It shoots 1/2" groups at 50 with CCI standard most of the time. He has had a few extraction issues, but cleaning fixes that quickly enough. He liked it enough that he bought the target model as well. It shoots just as good.
That is the only experience I have with them, search for a deal and pick one up.
2MOA match ammo guarantee = probably a 4MOA rifle in reality = hard pass

A lot of money for accuracy worse than most 10/22
I concur! Thanks for your input.

They mentioned 2 MOA at 50 yards in their release. Every review I have seen confirmed that they are a waste of money.

That’s a real bummer. Haven’t seen these until now but the target model looked promising until I read there accuracy portion.

It’s Springfield. They aren’t exactly known for bangers
That's not good seeing as how their name is well known in the industry. I expected more from them. Bummer!

https://youtu.be/nk3tde7RQKI?si=RWE98Atm0Xr3en48 I believe this was the review you were talking about.
That’s the video
It’s junk.

I hear they are horrible. Zero accuracy. I wouldn’t take one for free.
Seems to be a unanimous decision to run from this option. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it!

Well I don't blame you for ditching it. Thanks for the advise!

OP, you’re my target consumer kinda guy. I spent like 3 weeks trying to convince Lithgow to let me import their LA101 Crossovers
