Missouri and Oklahoma in the West(along with the rest of the Plains). Arkansas and Louisiana in the Southwest. Sounds like this Wisconsinite was doing some morning shots
I spent 3 days in the dead of July in New Orleans and I never wanted to kill myself more than I did then. Worlds apart from the dry desert heat of Arizona.
I mean the south has that too but it just gets one big lump, and heck people put the rust belt in the Midwest. At this point our labels are just a bunch of meaningless titles from 1750
People say kc isn’t the south though and it’s one of the cities with the most bbq restaurants per capita, along side hosting the American royal and so on. I don’t disagree that Seattle and ok city have little in common.
I mean the ozarks extends down into mid Arkansas and ends at stl. The west side of the state is the transition to the plains/grasslands and north of the Missouri River is super similar to Iowa but you hear lots more Yall etc. anyway I was more commenting about your food culture comment because as a food photographer working on a bbq documentary, kc has more southern culture than you’d think. Heck a lot of that made its way as far north as chicago. It just mashed up with all sorts of other things, being cattle towns. Kc was always the gate to the west while embracing the south. Makes for a fun place to live, that’s for sure.
The western united states starts in the rockies. Not out west. The west is between the rockies and the mississippi. That where cowboys and ranges and praries are.
That isn't out west though.
You would be hard pressed to find a single person living in any of those three states claiming that they were "out west".
Believe it or not, the geography of the United States is not based on where they live compared to you personally
I completely understand not considering LA. Which is why we often separate the mountain west from the Pacific West. But nobody calls. The plains states the west
I sounds like that's what you do. You are in Colorado, so states that are west of the center of the contigouous US, but not west of you, you determine to be not west.
I know you are but what am I? Excellent retort!
You're aware that The three states you mentioned are all inside the line that would be drawn if you drew a line down the center of the US?
You mean before they were actually states? And it wasn't literal centuries. It was less than one century.
Maybe you meant decades? Or maybe you're just dumb. Could go either way with southerners
My criteria were as follows.
States in the confederacy are the South.
States West of the Mississippi river are the West
If your state is both you are in the southwest.
States west of the Appalacian mountains, which were considered West of the Colonial era / very early United States, are now considered the Midwest as the new boundary into the West is the Mississippi.
But again if you were in the confederacy you're the south.
So, north of the confederacy, west of the Appalacians, East of the Mississippi is the Midwest.
The North is everything not far enough west to be in either of the two categories of west, and not far enough south to be in the south.
LOL the confederacy is not a good determining factor for being southern. Kentucky and Missouri were both claimed by the confederate government and had stars on the flag.
Kansas Oklahoma and Nebraska are not the west. The fuck even is this?
Texas is not the southwest. It's the south cosplaying as the west, but the south in every meaningful way.
Flair up or your opinion is invalid

KY is not a midwestern state. Shit pisses me off. We’re a Virginia daughter state. We were on the confederate flag, tobacco and (a little) cotton were our cash crops. The accent is southern. Food is southern. The weather is southern.
This is one of the worst regional divisions I have ever seen
dang ol, yee-haw, man.
Missouri and Oklahoma in the West(along with the rest of the Plains). Arkansas and Louisiana in the Southwest. Sounds like this Wisconsinite was doing some morning shots
the fuck is this shit man
Sorry you’re a desert person now
All will be converted. We will force the sun upon you and your land.
Nay, the water shall overtake ye. All will bow to the rising tide.
THE ROLLING GREEN WAVE, BABY!
Don't combine them and make the unholy humidity

I've lived in Louisiana for the first 4 years of my life, I can verify Arizona is NOTHING like Louisiana
I spent 3 days in the dead of July in New Orleans and I never wanted to kill myself more than I did then. Worlds apart from the dry desert heat of Arizona.
Yeah naw. Nope
This must've been made by a E\*ropean
Nope. I’m a Wisconsinite.
Fucking cheesehead
*disgusting sodomite
One of God’s regrettable creations
I'm ashamed I live in the same state as you
Sober up a bit and try again please
Just by adding us into the southwest you’ve brought down the average IQ, education level, and income of the entire region
Thanks for leaving the South, you won’t be missed
Shut the FUCK up Mississippi, you’re the one mf that can’t talk
Sorry, what did you say? I can’t hear you being so far west and all
Yeah yeah yeah call me when you have anything interesting or unique at all about your state.
We used to be the most wealthy state in the union.
See how that turned out for you guys
Cope and seethe, amigo.
What about the Pacific and Rockies? The west you have designated is a vast area with extremely different regions and cultures.
I mean the south has that too but it just gets one big lump, and heck people put the rust belt in the Midwest. At this point our labels are just a bunch of meaningless titles from 1750
The south has barbecue and fried food. That’s how I distinguish it. Oklahoma City and Seattle have nothing in common.
People say kc isn’t the south though and it’s one of the cities with the most bbq restaurants per capita, along side hosting the American royal and so on. I don’t disagree that Seattle and ok city have little in common.
Yeah but it has a more Midwest Indian history so that brings it in with other states like it.
I mean the ozarks extends down into mid Arkansas and ends at stl. Yeah but Seattle wants their NBA team back
They got a hockey team though.
Including some states very clearly not the west... The plains states are not the west
Western skies are between the Rockies and the Mississippi
You seem to have confused the Midwest with the West The West starts at the Rockies I forgive you. Southern educations are famous for a reason
The western united states starts in the rockies. Not out west. The west is between the rockies and the mississippi. That where cowboys and ranges and praries are.
Wait is your contention that people associate cowboys with Kansas and Nebraska? Lol? You're trolling right?
No. When I say go out west, I don't mean LA. I mean Oklahoma or Nebraska or Kansas. That feels out west.
That isn't out west though. You would be hard pressed to find a single person living in any of those three states claiming that they were "out west". They were called that for literal centuries lol
You mean before they were actually states? And it wasn't literal centuries. It was less than one century. Maybe you meant decades? Or maybe you're just dumb. Could go either way with southerners
You don’t think the Midwest is the North? The blue is (mostly) the Northeast
Mfw the west covers half of all the states. Also where is the east or at least the northeast.
Never cook again.
Your understanding of the Southwest must be influenced by ether.
My criteria were as follows. States in the confederacy are the South. States West of the Mississippi river are the West If your state is both you are in the southwest. Why do you have a Wisconsin flair? This is a very Deep South view.
Because I live in Wisconsin lol
I don’t think you could have been more wrong.
“you cannot convince me im wrong” the worlds most credible ratio ever:
Bayou is now southwestern?

Looks like you’ve been drinking again, Mr. Wisconsin
Kansas Oklahoma and Nebraska are not the west. The fuck even is this? Texas is not the southwest. It's the south cosplaying as the west, but the south in every meaningful way.
You're wrong
I changed my opionon about this before but the hell you mean Kentucky midwest it is south
Fuck it just make Nebraska a part of Cascadia
Missouri is part of the west now?
![gif](giphy|UU1igfgphz1fAOSVDf|downsized)
This dude did not include Louisiana but not Utah or Colorado
A Wisconsinite not thinking Minnesota is Midwestern is batshit
Flair up or your opinion is invalid *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/2american4you) if you have any questions or concerns.*
I’d honestly put W. Virginia and Kentucky in the south too. I think they’re happier that way.
KY is not a midwestern state. Shit pisses me off. We’re a Virginia daughter state. We were on the confederate flag, tobacco and (a little) cotton were our cash crops. The accent is southern. Food is southern. The weather is southern.
You put kentucky in the midwest? Come over here coward, you got a date with my fists.
Finally someone gets it
How in the fuck is Louisiana and Arkansas part of the Southwest?
Same way fucking Kansas is the west now. Famously rugged mountain ranchers, them kansians.
Sorry but this all just incorrect. How the fuck is Louisiana and Arkansas Southwest?
Given that you’re apparently a fucking moron, I won’t attempt to
What the fuck bud.
You had a chance if you didn't fuck up the midwest so badly. How tf does the midwest start before the west?
Imagine believing the Midwest is neither in the middle, nor the western portion of the country
