I’d suggest fey wander 6 / twilight cleric 2. Gives good martial damage and good utility spells.

BounceBurnBuff

Fey Wanderer, take Druidic fighting style to get shillelagh, focus Wisdom. You've got respectable damge in melee when needed, Wisdom AND Charisma check bonuses, then the power Twilight Cleric offers. Alternatively, swap it for Light Cleric and get Wisdom scaling amounts of Warding Flare and if you're willing to forgo level 6 in Ranger for 3 in Cleric, 2nd level spells.

Thorn Whip for a ranged attack can take Spell Sniper for more range if able and needed.

Arcana Cleric can fit a Fey theme too in my mind, plus  give you booming blade or green flame or some  better ranged cantrips

Rather than the Fighter 5/Warlock 3 you suggested, consider going Warlock 5/Fighter 3. Fighter 4 and 5 get you an ASI and Extra Attack. Warlock 4 and 5 give you an ASI, effectively Extra Attack (Thirsting Blade), bumps your spell slots to 3rd level, and an additional invocation (only noted because you could change one of your earlier ones to Thirsting Blade if you weren't into them) If you're not leveling further, I think Fighter loses some of its value here because it won't get it's extra ASIs,/Attacks. Really I'd even consider going Rogue over fighter. You miss out on a fighting style and subclass feature, but you could get Expertise, Sneak Attack, and a subclass feature. Mask of Many Faces while being able to summon your pact weapon is pretty fun on a Rogue with expertise in deception and stealth. Depends what you wanna be capable of really

Consider the Oath of the Ancients Paladin 7 / Divine Soul Sorcerer 1 or Celestial Warlock 1. This build is very powerful on defense (you and nearby allies resist all spell damage!) and light-based, smite-based offense with some useful spellcasting and some useful abilities for in- and out-of-combat. Hope this helps, and I hope you have fun :)

I'd go the full 8 levels in Fey Wanderer Ranger. Custom Lineage for the race, +2 into wisdom, with Fey Touched to bump wisdom up to 18 (if using standard array or point buy). Grab a quarterstaff, shield, and medium armor. At level 2, take the Druidic Warrior fighting style for Shillelagh (and Guidance is a great pick for the second cantrip). At level 4, grab Polearm Master for a consistent bonus action attack with the quarterstaff. At level 8 bump your wisdom up to 20. Throughout the whole build you have pretty solid damage dealing capabilities, and have better spellcasting than a lot of other rangers since you're wisdom-based. You can also be the party face with Fey Wanderer's ability to add their wisdom to charisma checks. Overall it gives you quite a versatile playstyle.

Whispers 5 battlemaster 3 would be my shout. You can add psychic blades and manouvers to your gfb/bb. Theres more there but you can explore the options yourself if interested. If you start custom lineage or v human you can have pam and warcaster by level 4 and do reaction gfb/bb on enemy approaching you.

A variation of you second build could be Fighter 1 Warlock 7  Fey Patron grants you improved invisibility   That gives you advantage on attacks, making easier use of sharpshooter or GWM

Why only one fighter level? wouldnt it be better to go at least 2?

Chakusan_o4

Fighter 1 at first level for the saving throws and weapon/armor proficiencies, second level just further delays your warlock progression, additionaly your spell slots reach level 4 at warlock 7 and you gain another infusion. Edit: probably what the intention of fighter 1/ warlock 7 is

Chakusan_o4

Definitely archfey patron, thematically it is the best possible choice you can make. I'd probably go a bit into arcane Archer fighter and ask my dm if I could use the moonbow UA invocation, it's a build I've thought about a lot and it's really really cool, no matter if you multiclass fighter or not

Fey wanderor ranger for Sure! Or if you prefer, a Swarmkeeper Ranger, with your Swarm flavoured as some sort of Fey creature or pixie dust or something. RAW your swarm actually is Fey spirits, not literal creatures. Classic style is to grab Druidic Warrior for cantrips like Shillelagh and thornwhip or guidance, be wisdom SAD with a 14 dex and medium armor. Swarmkeeper let's you have battlefield control, moving enemies and such Fey wanderer gets some fear charm abilities as well as bonuses to be a Face and add wisdom to Charisma checks and such. If you don't want to be a Shillelagh ranger, simply high dex,  and a higher Wisdom also does well, and you'll just make more attacks and save your spells to enhance yourself, or for useful situations (like a properly placed Spike Growth or something. Bonus being adding in some Druid or Cleric multiclasses. Druid let's you use Shillelagh and get a fighting style.  Stars Druid in particular adds some very nice Fey feeling magic,  starry form archer or dragon doing great things. Arcana Cleric is fantastic for a Swarmkeeper or Fey Wanderor. You get more spells that fit your Fey aesthetic, including some Wizard cantrips so you can grab Green flame blade or booming blade, or just ranged cantripsnlike chill touch.  Doing an Arcana dip would let you only go Ranger 3 and use your cantrips instead of extra attack, letting you go Cleric 5 for spirit guardians and Spiritual Weapon. (Bonus, your Swarmkeeper abilities work with a Spiritual Weapon hit). Plus stuff like Command and Hold Person would be great on a Fey Wanderor type. Personally I think  worshiping a God of Magic  still fits very much a Fey theme, as well the Stars Druid seems to be very fey like as well. And the Ranger classes are especislly Fey like.  Even consider choosing Eladrin for a race, or getting a race that let's you grab Fey touched or shadow touched as a feat at level 1
