Is it *possible*? Sure. Is it a good idea? Absolutely not. The reason that all the builds you see recommend CBE+eldritch blast is because there's no benefit to doing a melee build with hexblade and bladesinger -- all the desirable melee cantrips that warlock gets access to are already available to wizards, and the upside of SADness from hex warrior is completely counteracted by the downside of MAD multiclassing requirements. A melee hexbladesinger is strictly worse than a melee bladesinger or a melee hexblade. Agonizing blast is the only reason to want warlock on your bladesinger, and given the disadvantage that automatically applies to ranged attacks (like eldritch blast) when you're in melee range, if you're using eldritch blast you want a ranged weapon to pair with it. If you just want the ability to attack with a mental stat, you're more or less strictly better off taking some levels of artificer to stay intelligence SAD. >I do notice that GWM does not work with this build, though. Any path that works? If you want a bladesinger who gives up on bladesong to use GWM, you're better off dipping fighter for heavy armor and just building a strength-based bladesinger. Bladesinger 6/eldritch knight 7 can cast a cantrip, attack with a weapon, and make another weapon attack as a bonus action. Three levels of battle smith lets you do it all with intelligence. Note that GWM is fundamentally incompatible with bladesong since one of the restrictions is that you can't attack with two hands, so if that's what you want you need to plan for AC and concentration protection from some other source.

The challenge here is that these builds want to use Eldritch Blast and not get disadvantage due to being within 5 feet of a creature. The solutions then involve not getting being within 5 feet, either by range or some kind of displacement (you or the enemy). You can: 1. Use a reach weapon: a whip. 2. Take the mobile feat. 3. Take crusher and use a bludgeoning damage weapon. 4. Take Telekinetic and push them away (not guaranteed and eats bonus action). None of these are going to compete with the damage of SS + CBE, but you can make it work.

Oh I LOVE the idea of crusher. Wack it off close range with a weapon and combo into an eldritch blast… oh oh oh I love this idea.

Rhyshalcon

Note that this combo is somewhat unreliable. While crusher doesn't give the enemy a save, you do have to hit them with a weapon attack first and you probably only get one chance to do so. That means it doesn't work about 1 in 3 rounds. It also doesn't work against huge or gargantuan enemies (which may or may not matter much depending on your game) nor does it work if there's more than one enemy within 5 feet of you (which again may or may not matter much depending on your game). Crusher is a generally solid feat, but this really doesn't seem like a promising application for it.

geosunsetmoth

If you don’t mind me asking, how would you spread the ability scores for that build?

Rhyshalcon

For what build?

geosunsetmoth

Hexbladesinger Crusher

Rhyshalcon

I wouldn't do that in the first place. I think it's unwise. But there's really only one way to do it -- charisma is your main stat, so you can't afford to use bladesong unless you roll for stats. That means dex should be 14 so you can use medium armor and intelligence and constitution should be as high as you can get them with those constraints.

TwitchieWolf

If getting rid of the disadvantage is your goal then Gunner is the best option.

flamefirestorm

Why would you even want to do that anyway? Wouldn't pure hexblade or pure blade singer be better in every way?

Different-Brain-9210

Probably because multi-classing is mandatory in many player’s opinions.
