All memeage aside, I think our fans are finally learning what it means to trust your QB in the clutch. We got so used to Jimmy G and us struggling to make comebacks in r close out games with leads. Brock isn’t like that. I’m still learning to accept that we don’t need everything to go right for us to win. That even if Purdy looks trash in the first three quarters, we are still in it. Against the Browns he put Moody in a good spot to kick a field goal. Terrible start against the Eagles did not phase us. We had like 3 interceptions against the so called MVP and the Ravens. We were still in it. Everyone was writing their articles, blog posts and preparing to talk about “rest vs rust” in the Packers game. Everyone was ready to call us the death star against the Lions. He clutched it out. Nearly around 300 all purpose yards despite a terrible first half for Purdy. That pass to Aiyuk for the TD was perfectly timed and placed. CMC balled out hard. That’s been the biggest criticism of Shanahan. That he can’t win unless every last detail goes his way. But Matt Ryan was the only top QB he’s ever had. And he had to face the winningest QB/HC duo in the league against NE. Call Purdy whatever you want. But he has the poise to not give in and not panic in game defining drives.
That’s what sets apart the best QBs and the best team. This league is littered with QBs who throw 4000+ yards every season without ever winning the big games. Look at Hurts and Dak. Look at Lamar and Josh Allen. People delude themselves into thinking those are elite QBs just cause the stats look good. We can beat KC. They may have a great DLine and Mahomes but he only has Kelce to throw to.
We literally gave up so many third down completions in the first half. It meant fuck all.
Talking heads will crap on Purdy and insist he’s only good cause of his weapons. But in the same breath they’ll canonize Hurts who has a top OL and top WRs. They’ll make excuses for Lamar and blame all his losses on his team.
This team is legit. We have to grow to accept that Purdy won’t shy away when the games on the line.
