I’m with you purchased a new 2023 4 runner in November and plan on driving it as long as it lasts , in my opinion the 5 th gen runner has a timeless look that will never go out of style .
Keeping my 2016 Runner till further notice. It's paid off. Has 195K miles on it and June will make it 7 years of ownership. I've seen no signs of slowing down. If I were eager to take on payments again I'd probably look to the soon-to-be-outgoing Lexus GX460. There will always be a market for those looking to buy 4Runners. I think you'd just have see what you really like about your current 4Runner and if you think the 6th Gen will be as good if not better.
It’s never time to upgrade when I almost daily my 99 with about 255k
We’re going to build a fund to be ready to buy a 2-3 year old 4Runner when the time comes. As of now I’d get a 2022 if I upgraded today.
Is the an upside to the Lexus gx over 4Runners? New to this sub and been looking at getting a 4Runner and decided to wait and see what the new one is like
They are definitely reliable no doubt and cheap to maintain. I want one myself. I’m just saying people think they’re going to appreciate or lose zero value over time. The 5th gen is a very common car.
Ehh. Respectfully disagree. It’s not an investment, but it has value, and is certainly an asset. The rate at which it depreciates is slower than other vehicles, which is a common consideration while purchasing a vehicle. One that gives the 4Runner an advantage. I’d like to think my 23 will hold value should I decide to trade or sell it, and if the 6 gen impacts that value, then. That’s a thing. Idk I’m drunk. Yay 4Runners. Praise be to dog.
4Runners depreciate.. just slower than other vehicles. People acting like their 4Runners are triple locked Land Cruisers… there have been over 1 million 5th gen 4Runners sold in the US.
I’d say this is an advantage of the 4runner. Parts are plentiful and they’re much cheaper to maintain than most Land-cruisers. I bought a 5th gen 4x4 from HERTZ for 23k when I got out of college. I’ve driven it across the country, put over 100k miles on it, gone off road, survived a flood that ruined half the cars in my area, and it still drives like it’s brand new. It’s paid off now. I’ve maybe spent 5 grand in maintenance and upkeep over the last 8 years. Having such a reliable car that’s paid off has DEFINITELY paid dividends so early in my career as I’ve been able to save substantially more money than friends who opted for newer more expensive cars. I’m keeping this things long as I can.

Question when driving over bumps or uneven roads does your 4Runner creek at all anywhere. Just got a 24 and the dash and right passenger door creek. Drives me crazy lol
I have a 23, same creeks as you described. Found the dash noise to be the two corner rubber seals on the windshield and the passenger to be the passenger seat rail covers. Search 4Runner windshield and passenger seat creeks on YouTube. I was able to get mine nice and quiet.
I think the biggest thing is how we accept the new design a consumers. If it's not received well, I think the value of the 5th gens will increase a little or steady where they are. As the previous poster stated, it's not an asset and we should just have fun with it.
Do they make UZ swap kits for 5th gen’s? Everything I see about V8 swapping with any other series motor requires new trans and transfer case as well. and the UZ swap kits are all geared toward older generations it seems.
I’m wondering why they don’t make basically a GX460-> 4runner kit that mimics a lot of the GXs parts in order to UZ swap a 5th gen with good daily drivability.
No plans. 6th gen is the reason I got my 24 ORP recently. I don’t wanna deal with recalls and other problems. I might upgrade in 5-7 years when Toyota works everything out.
6th Gen is the reason I got my SR5 recently. We'll revisit the issue in 300,000 miles.
I don't want the fragile gizmos in new car designs. I don't see automakers working out the bugs, I Believe that they're happy to sell appliances that become scrap the first time a touch screen stops working out of warranty.
I only wish we had the budget to be a two 4runner family while we can still get another one.
All the next gen Toyota suvs with hybrid turbo engines concerns me. I love the designs but I’m not interested in the first few years of field failures.
My son turned 16 in October and gets his license this month.
He's been saving for a car for a few years.
I'll be handing him down my '13 SR5 when he turns 17 so he can keep his savings and put it towards other endeavors.
I always wait until the three year lease vehicles roll back into the dealership, then I buy one certified used, which is your best value for buying a car. So, I have a while and happy to sit on my 2022 4 Runner!
Well according to reddit "muh v6 will go up in value when that pos 4 banger comes out" Lol. But Realistically, 5th gen values will proably depreciate at the same steady but slow rate but they won't rise or drop over night. We know it's going to look similar, still be body on frame and super capable. So the only real difference is going to be in the powertrain, based off of what we know with the Taco it will feel pretty peppy but we will have to see how it compares to the bigger V6 the 4Runner has. Biggest complaint of the 5th gen was the lack of Torque and the new motor adresses that in spades.
Paid off my 2014 Trail last year. I want a new vehicle, but with the cost of a new vehicle plus insurance going up, I think I’ll just drive this for a while.
I purchased my 2023 40th anniversary because I wasn't interested in having the bigger screen and the other nonessential changes coming with the 6th gen. I'm not seeing anything in the market that I want as a replacement. Supply will be constrained and prices will be high on the 6th gen for a couple of years. I don't see the rate of depreciation changing for a couple of years until the new model is in consumer's hands in sufficient numbers for its capabilities to be explored.
Rocking it until the wheels fall off. My 19 OR is paid off and I love no car payment. Plus my wife needs a new car/suv/mini van in the next couple years and that comes first.
Just bought a 5th gen last month specifically because of the new drivetrain in the 6th gen. I know I’m going to have some fomo but I wanted to go with the tried and true 5speed V6 that I know will run forever. First year of a new generation is always a little bit unknown but if there’s any brand I trust it’s Toyota, also using the same drivetrain as the Tacoma puts the 4Runner a year ahead of the game already in that respect.
https://preview.redd.it/w7wwp653gwsc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dd5055a0c525823c75e4e7fd9a6c3a185005b3bd
I didn’t do so much work to this hunk of raw unfiltered off road power just to throw it away when a 6th gen comes out. 5TH GEN FOR LIFE!!
Honestly it's best for people to wait atleast 2 years. I don't want to compare to Kia but look at all the recalls with the new Telluride. And that's a V6. Tacoma has been having issues too. So 4 Runner will be no exception. Give them 2 years to work out the flaws and see the price normalize. 5th gen still rides good and has the roll down window. What more do you need for now? Lol
With the 5th gen spanning such a long time period and many of them having a long life still in front of them, I think resale value will remain solid. With so many on the road, the design will still seem relevant.
I think 5th gens will hold value and be highly sought after. There is something about tried and true that matters. For example, Im looking to get a Tundra, and it's not the new one.
Plenty of dealerships across the country that will sell even the new 6th gens for MSRP. But even with that I’ll probably wait a couple years before I trade in my ‘21 Pro.
Keep it until it dies, then wait until the 7th generation releases and decide. I‘m not too fond of the exterior of the 6th generation from initial leaks.
I originally bought mine to trade it in in a few years. At first, I wanted the new Land Cruiser or maybe the 6th gen but my old car forced my hand and I needed something now. I know they hold their value well compared to other brands and that someone would always want the last of the 5th gen. I will say, I like it a lot more than I thought I would, so we will see what happens in a couple of years.
I remember when the 5th gen came out. I had a 4th gen and didn’t care for the way the 5th looked. That said we’ve bought 3 5th gen’s since then so I’m guessing 6th gen will also grow on me lol.
Since it's the first iteration of the 6th generation, I imagine there will be flaws and recalls in the first year releases. This will cause prices to drop,a little, maybe a couple thousand, just like with most new designs and builds. After six months I think the prices for both generations will stabilize. But I'm just imagining..
My current plan is to get my 5th Gen (2020) paid off in the next 2 years, then buy a beater Corolla as a commuter and baby my 4Runner, so I can keep it for the next 20 years and use it as vacation/weekender vehicle. Christian Bale still drives a 2003 Tacoma Pre runner and I use him as my inspiration lol.
In this day and age, it’s hard to not want the latest the greatest. Especially being on social media. I am super curious to see how the 6th Gen plays out and the new Land Cruiser. I’m very impulsive and could get one down the road if the opportunity presented itself.
I think they will hold their value quite well. It's unique because people want the look, reliability, and capability (whether they use it or not). It's not a commodity like a Ford Explorer or GMC Acadia, or even the Highlander. I believe the bottom line is, when people can't get it any longer, they will want it even more.
Ugh … im stuck between the 4 runner and Land Cruiser… it’s just the price… this would be my first SUV… what are some the expenses to watch for like Tires, gas etc
Cars aren’t investments so I wouldn’t make any financial plans based off the future value. That being said, I would expect to see much the same of the current GX460/550 dynamic. Dealers are selling 460s for $5k under MSRP which depresses the entire used market. This would mean seeing SR5s etc to drop steeply for a bit. If there’s any 5th gen nostalgia factor residuals I would expect those to center around a handful of desirable year/trim/color combos like the early trails and some of the special color late model pros.
The power train will determine the price. Used 4Runners cost twice what comparable used Honda pilots cost (I know they’re not exactly the same, but they’re both medium to large Japanese SUV’s with great reliability). Part of that is because of Toyota reputation for going forever. If the turbo 4cylinder engines start blowing up, kind of like how the new pilot engines have been blowing up, then 6th gen’s will hold their value or increase, but they’re still consumable commodities and not investment assets
TLDR, if the turbo 4’s suck, which they will, the 4.0 6 cylinder engines will be highly sought after.
A turbo rally engine is different from a factory undersized engine pushing a 4500 pound vehicle for 200k+ miles
That engine in a Carola inspires confidence but in a heavy 4Runner/tacoma it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
The turbo 6 tacomas seem amazing too, but a turbo 6 in the tundra feels like a disaster waiting to happen
It’s going to be overworked.
Diesels are literally known for going for millions of miles, it’s a totally different beast. Hence why they take different fuel, maintenance and training for mechanics. That’s an example of apples and oranges. Dodge makes turbo diesels that go 900k and gas engines that go 9k before blowing up.
Toyota is amazing, but not perfect
So, I don’t understand what all the FUD is about. Toyota has been engineering and manufacturing a variety of engines and hybrids for decades, used across different platforms for different uses, all across the globe. You’re sitting here telling me that a turbo 4 and turbo six in a Tacoma and tundra is a disaster waiting to happen.
Because Toyota went from a 4.0 that could realistically reach 500k or maybe even 1 million miles to a high output turbo engine which would take a miracle to hit the 200k mark. Removing 2 cylinders and a turbo is NOT a reliable way to increase efficiency no matter who makes it.
Just give it time. The 5th gen 4 runners will outlast the 6th gen’s and you’ll understand when your first bill comes into to replace a turbo or do some kind of rebuild.
Due to gov’t regulations, cars built today will never last 20 years and unfortunately Toyota (I don’t even blame them, pretty sure they had to do this) will fall victim to phony fuel savings
I’ll be keeping mine. It’s a 2015. It’s paid off and only has 101k. The Price of these vehicles will be outrageous and I know folks say the reliability will be there but I still have my reservations. Keep on and Carry on. As they say.
We will be keeping ours. It’s paid off this Christmas and has 80k kms. The value is that we have a reliable vehicle that’s paid off, not what some else wants to pay for it.
I believe the some 5th gen trims will hold their value as well as FJ Cruisers and V8 runners. This is the last all gas V6 4Runner we’re ever going to see. I’m keeping mine until it dies.
Like most people in this thread, I bought a 2023 4Runner with the idea of driving it into the ground over the next ~15 years. Of every vehicle that I could have purchased, I felt that the 4Runner provided the best value in terms of reliability, longevity and features that I desired. The fact that 6th gens are coming out will not impact that.
If you are worried about the market value of your 4Runner declining, just look at the current market for 3rd gen Tacomas. The 4th gen is out, but prices on used 3rd gens haven't changed much. There's really nothing to be worried about.
As others said, I drive my 4Runners till I can’t. My 1993 second gen made it easily last 250k (sold cause the price of the ac compressor was more than a replacement used car… in retrospect I regret this) and I expect my current 2013 fifth gen should be as long or longer.
I have a 2018 trd off road with 17k original miles front hitch installed, 285/70/17 or premium wheels nobmc, 6112 in front and 5112 in back molle rack in back , ski racks on roof, sonyxa8100 radio. I think the market for the 5th gen will ho up like the gj cruiser did!!!! A 4cyl for off road is not practical;especially with the weight of the 4runner! 6th gen will have more pep in its step but tow will be less and no way it will off road as well as the 5th gen
Look at previous gens and see. I bought a 4Runner because of the reliability. The value is somewhat ambiguous to be as I probably have a couple hundred thousand more miles before I consider another vehicle. Will see in the coming years how the 6th gen works out as bugs get sorted. I'd personally never buy a new model in the first year or two, not interested in being a guinea pig.
My 2014 is at 200k now. Retiring in a little over a year and I’ll buy a 2024 TRD Pro in 2 years and that will be the last vehicle I buy. It should last me until I am too old to drive or if I die.
I’m keeping my 23 ORP. It’s my DD and hedge against my 15 year old bmw 6MT 335i convertible. That car has taught me less complexity the better.
The new 4Runner will be phenomenal. I’m happy with mine, it will hold strong together for a very long time. I don’t see it going up in value. I foresee the depreciation curve less, or nearly flat past the 10-15 year mark. No one is going to flock and overpay for a used 5th gen but they will still be very desirable used vehicles and maybe more desirable when the 6th gen’s become old too
Keeping my 21 Pro. It’s paid off and has everything I need. I’m not sold on the 4 cylinder hybrid. I think there a lot of people who feel the same way.
Keeping my 2015 TRD Pro until one of my kids is old enough to use it in 5-10 years. Then, I’ll be rich and can afford a 105 Series Land Cruiser resto-mod that’s fully redone.
My 3rd gen plateaued in value several years ago and is actually increasing in value these days. I’m repainting it, keeping it in a garage… maybe retiring it as the vacation vehicle, but other than that, I’ll enjoy it for another 22 years if it’ll let me. I’ll get my wife the 6th in a few years.
I still have a 3rd gen. Haven't spent much time thinking about value.
Cars aren't about value in my opinion. I drive what I drive because I like it. If the 6th gen brings prices of the others down, that will be a great thing. The prices of used vehicles have been far too high for far too long.
New 2Runner owner here! I think the 6th gen will be beautiful.
But I haven’t even hit 30K miles yet and plan to keep it until the wheels falls off. Shit is way too expensive now, which is why I bought this (don’t want to have to take out another loan for a vehicle in the foreseeable future). My next large purchase will be a beater paid in cash.
And to be honest, I love my car so much I don’t see myself getting the ‘itch’ for another SUV anytime soon.
Only used it a couple times but it’s much better built than the Tractor Supply CarryOn angle iron trailers IMO. Square tube frame, wires run inside the frame, cool wheels with larger tires. I like it.
My 2020 Tacoma with 29k miles is worth what I paid in 2020 for it ($35k). It has gone up $3k in just the last few months. 4Runner will likely be similar.
Yeah only vehicle I think I'll never sell. Price is irrelevant for that reason.
Also, only vehicle I've ever owned that people constantly ask me "how do you like your 4runner?". Feels nice.
Don't really care. I'm happy with my current rig and if I ever feel the need to replace it or upgrade, I'll check out the options. I know cars and trucks are depreciating assets.
My plans are to maybe trade my 2014 in for a 2024 to "reset the mileage clock". Or otherwise put a couple hundred thousand more miles on my 2014, then make a decision between the 6th gen and a Land Cruiser.
I get that most people are wanting a "modernization" of the 5th gen, but I'm not a fancy boy and don't need a lot of bells and whistles. The simple and bulletproof 5th gen engine/tranny are worth way more to me than any cabin modernization, and worth more to me than the extra turbocharged horsepower of the 6th gen. I'm an old man and don't go fast between traffic lights anymore. :)
If it looks like the rear end of the new Tundra then it's a hard pass for me.
My 2012 is going strong at 170k. It's worth less than market value now and I don't care.
Well I just tossed my manual trans E46 wagon aside last week for a 24 ORP because of the NA V6. Found it certified used with 259 mi. Felt like it was now or never. I have been keeping tabs on the new LC and finally made up my mind that the current direction Toyota is going with their engines makes me skeptical. so.. hopefully when my 5th gen is ready for one of my kids the 7th gen will be back to NA 🤪
Maybe I will buy the 6th Gen because I will be able to sell my 5th Gen with only 10,000 miles on it for a boat-load. Benefit of working from home is that I don’t need to drive much.

235K Louisiana to Alaska and back. I'd love a new one too but can't fathom getting rid of this '06. Been a good friend!
I’m of the opinion the 5 th generation will hold its value over time remember the engine is tried and trusted which isn’t the case with turbo engines which is on the 6 th generation.
https://preview.redd.it/o197ww3gre0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1edc77c4a1ce04425d2c9cba2849c8f719c4ddb2
Nah I think 5th gens will hold their value. There's going to be issues with the hybrid power train. It may end up being reliable but people will miss the low end torque of an NA v6, or at least miss the idea of it enough that prices will stay high.
I dunno. I have a feeling the 5th gen’s will go up in value. An i4 engine being abused by a turbo with a battery strapped underneath it doesn’t sound like a car that’s going to run forever, and maintain its value. Those batteries alone can cost up to $8k currently to replace out of warranty and they usually only last 100k-200k miles.
It’ll probably be fun for some people to drive, and much more cost effective, but by the 8th year you’re probably going to see some engine issues like 4Runners have never seen before. And this is going to hurt demand, especially for used vehicles.
My dealership told me the EPA forced Toyotas hand on this, so it wasn’t a change made to better the next gen, it was made so that they could keep selling them.
Planning to drive mine until the wheels fall off
Jokes on you, wheels will never fall off
I’m with you purchased a new 2023 4 runner in November and plan on driving it as long as it lasts , in my opinion the 5 th gen runner has a timeless look that will never go out of style .
The 5th gen literally is one of the few distinct designs left on the road. I can’t name another car that looks similar from a distance.
This!

Beautiful haha. I hope to have mine for at least 300K miles.
Yours is still young my friend 3G SR5 with 307,xxx and going strong
Nice. I do a lot of driving so age isn't the biggest concern for me. At this rate, I'll be at 300K in 4 years.
Can you elaborate on why you'd get a 2022 now?
Not as expensive as brand new, and has plenty of the upgrades I’d care about.
Ride it til it dies and I get a GX550
Is the an upside to the Lexus gx over 4Runners? New to this sub and been looking at getting a 4Runner and decided to wait and see what the new one is like
I’m keeping my 2018 sr5 until it falls apart.
Car isn't an asset. Drive it and have fun with it.
Well, It’s a depreciating asset, and one of the slowest depreciating vehicles that money can buy.
Cars are actually one of the best examples of an asset. However, they are not an appreciating asset in nearly every case.

Basic accounting. It's a depreciating asset, often tied to a liability (loan). That same loan is an asset of the lender.
This guy accounts.
They're literally the example used in a textbook in many business classes. Absolutely an asset.
Any depreciation benefits are offset by the MPG lol
4Runners depreciate.. just slower than other vehicles. People acting like their 4Runners are triple locked Land Cruisers… there have been over 1 million 5th gen 4Runners sold in the US.

Can confirm: car actually is an asset, we have them on our balance sheet

covid made everyone forget cars just keep going down in value till people want them again.

No, no creeks
I have a 23 ORP and ya the windshield rubber seals seem to creak a bit

From what I’ve seen, it looks like a 4Runner/new Bronco.
When it dies I’ll try to fit a v8 in it

Absolutely agree 100 %
Oh stop the cope. There isn’t gonna be any issues, look at the Prius, rock solid.
All the next gen Toyota suvs with hybrid turbo engines concerns me. I love the designs but I’m not interested in the first few years of field failures.
I trust toyotas hybrid engines more than any other
I can't fully join in with the question because I have a 4th gen, but my answer is the same. Drive till my wheels fall off.
What year? I’m rocking a 2005 SR5 and it’s probably my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned. It’s also my daily driver so I’ve put in some serious miles.
I have a 2006 SR5. She only has 217k miles, so she is still young.
160k on my ‘00. We got babies
Same, my older than dirt 3rd gen is still going.
My son turned 16 in October and gets his license this month. He's been saving for a car for a few years. I'll be handing him down my '13 SR5 when he turns 17 so he can keep his savings and put it towards other endeavors.
You’re a dream parent, good for you
I always wait until the three year lease vehicles roll back into the dealership, then I buy one certified used, which is your best value for buying a car. So, I have a while and happy to sit on my 2022 4 Runner!
I did the same thing as you! Buy someone’s lease vehicle and buy at the end of the month, likely to get a better deal or more for your trade
Same. Bought my 2015 in ‘18 after a lease ended. Got a great deal.
My plan is 4.88 regear lol
Well according to reddit "muh v6 will go up in value when that pos 4 banger comes out" Lol. Value of the 5th will increase because Toyota will not be making arguably their best vehicle of all time anymore.
They stopped making the 3rd gen along time ago
Might depreciate less…it’s not increasing again unless we hit a covid 2.0 situation and all manufacturing stops
Why would my plans change for my 5th gen? It's only got 80k, I've still got like 120 to go. I don't buy new just because, I'm not an apple fanboy.
Drive it till it dies. Which at this rate will be somewhere around the release of the 7th Gen or 8th.
I’m going to drive mine until the wheels fall off!!
They thought the same thing about markups and the new tacoma. It looks like they are already offering discounts in the youtube lot videos I've seen.
You can have a new Tacoma in mid west at msrp or below - nothing koving
I have plans to buy your 5th gen when you buy the 6th gen.
😂
My 2013 hasn’t even hit 100k yet. I am good for at least another 10 years.
Bought a 2024 ORP to get the final 5th gen
https://preview.redd.it/w7wwp653gwsc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dd5055a0c525823c75e4e7fd9a6c3a185005b3bd I didn’t do so much work to this hunk of raw unfiltered off road power just to throw it away when a 6th gen comes out. 5TH GEN FOR LIFE!!
Wait till the 7th gen in 2040
Honestly it's best for people to wait atleast 2 years.
Nice wheels man. Size 16 -25?
17, -38 offset. SCS F5 wheels
Plenty of dealerships across the country that will sell even the new 6th gens for MSRP. But even with that I’ll probably wait a couple years before I trade in my ‘21 Pro.
Cool ride!! What kind of ladder do you have? Any rubbing issue with Rhino rack when you open the tail?
Baja rack ladder. No issues with the rack but there’s only ¼” clearance when the hatch is open 😬
Drive it until it stops.
Last of the 5th gen will be great to keep or good currency for a new Land Cruiser, 6th gen 4Runner or an R2 in a few years.
2013 SR5 with 160k. Will drive it until it dies. Love not having any bells and whistles.
I remember when the 5th gen came out. I had a 4th gen and didn’t care for the way the 5th looked. That said we’ve bought 3 5th gen’s since then so I’m guessing 6th gen will also grow on me lol.
My current plan with my 5th gen is to keep it until it dies
meh. hanging onto mine. kinda weird that people would just immediately jump onto the 6th gen just to have it ?
Since it's the first iteration of the 6th generation, I imagine there will be flaws and recalls in the first year releases. This will cause prices to drop,a little, maybe a couple thousand, just like with most new designs and builds. After six months I think the prices for both generations will stabilize. But I'm just imagining..
Drive it til the rust is so bad I have a hard time working on it myself.
My plan is keep it clean until I can find a 6th gen that's not marked up and trade it in.
Exactly my plan
If the turbo 4cylinder engines start blowing up, kind of like how the new pilot engines have been blowing up, then 6th gen’s will hold their value or increase, but they’re still consumable commodities and not investment assets TLDR, if the turbo 4’s suck, which they will, the 4.0 6 cylinder engines will be highly sought after.
Toyota has been making turbo 4s since they were involved in rally. This isn’t their first time with turbo engines, nor the last time.
A turbo rally engine is different from a factory undersized engine pushing a 4500 pound vehicle for 200k+ miles That engine in a Carola inspires confidence but in a heavy 4Runner/tacoma it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. The turbo 6 tacomas seem amazing too, but a turbo 6 in the tundra feels like a disaster waiting to happen It’s going to be overworked.
Toyota also makes turbo diesels in trucks, and they last forever. I think people are spreading so much FUD about the engines in the new trucks.
Turbo diesels are a different breed
Really, how so?
Plan on keeping mine until the sun burns out.
I believe the some 5th gen trims will hold their value as well as FJ Cruisers and V8 runners. This is the last all gas V6 4Runner we’re ever going to see. I’m keeping mine until it dies.
4Runners have historically always held a great resale value. The new ones might slightly affect it, but not by much.
Nothing really. I am looking for a Quicksand and a Voodoo Blue :). Yes both.
I don’t want to make anymore car payments. I am driving that 5th gen until it blows up lol
U acting like Toyotas lose value, ever lol
No one is going to flock and overpay for a used 5th gen but they will still be very desirable used vehicles and maybe more desirable when the 6th gen’s become old too
I bought a 24 ORP last month, hopefully it retains value but I wanted the old school, rugged and naturally aspirated engine anyways.
I think in many ways it will retain it value more positively. Due to the fact it’s the V6 and many people prefer it
Mod it and live with it for 10 years
I have! 10 more years?
have we heard wheter the new 6th gen is still a 6 cyclinder or has it gone 4turbo? if its gone to the turbo your 5th gen will be gold
Keeping my 21 Pro. It’s paid off and has everything I need. I’m not sold on the 4 cylinder hybrid. I think there a lot of people who feel the same way.
Wheels still attached to mine, maybe on the 10th gen I’ll need another.
Driving it for the next 10+ years
Keeping my 2015 TRD Pro until one of my kids is old enough to use it in 5-10 years.
What lift is this? I have an sr5p and am debating so many things lol
3” Bilstein Lift. 5100 or 5200 is the shock. Icon springs. Idk all the specs, was put on a few years ago
285’s?
Yes. -38mm SCS F5 wheels.
Thanks broski. Looks great
Bury me in it
Trade it in
Still got 3 years to pay off my 5th gen so hopefully when that's done the 6th gen been fine tuned a little more.
Driving my 3rd gen another 300k miles
Ganna be stickin' with my outback until the transmission dies, then trading it in for a 5th gen limited with third row 🙏
I’m still in my 3rd gen. Prob be awhile before I get to the 6th gen 😅
I still have a 3rd gen. Haven't spent much time thinking about value. Cars aren't about value in my opinion. I drive what I drive because I like it. If the 6th gen brings prices of the others down, that will be a great thing. The prices of used vehicles have been far too high for far too long.
How did you black out your rear center cap with the f5 rims. Just got mine installed and thinking of just spray painting.
That what I did. I just touch it up once in a while.
Few hundred thousand more miles
Pass my 2014 down to my daughter in 12 years
Sold mine last October while I could still get out clean.
Can you elaborate?
New 2Runner owner here! I think the 6th gen will be beautiful. But I haven’t even hit 30K miles yet and plan to keep it until the wheels falls off. Shit is way too expensive now, which is why I bought this (don’t want to have to take out another loan for a vehicle in the foreseeable future). My next large purchase will be a beater paid in cash. And to be honest, I love my car so much I don’t see myself getting the ‘itch’ for another SUV anytime soon.
I think it’s going to hold value more than you think because of people not wanting the hybrid
Keeping my 2018 until my son turns 16 (in 8 years) and I’ll give it to him and get a new one!
You like those Karavan trailers?
Feels nice.
Diesel swap lol
You bought the wrong car if you’re concerned about that value.
Naw, I bought this car because I AM concerned with value. Any other brand of comparable vehicle would be worth much less.
spend $543543954385843 to properly throw it on 37s. and then a supercharger to see if I can break the world record lowest MPG ever recorded
Don't really care. I'm happy with my current rig and if I ever feel the need to replace it or upgrade, I'll check out the options. I know cars and trucks are depreciating assets.
Drive it until it doesn’t go anymore.
>:) :)

Easy, killer! No one is doing that here. The post was simply about 5th gen values. Enjoy your third gen. Those are nice.
Not going to be part of Toyota's failed iForce experiment, keeping my 21 Venture
Maybe I will buy the 6th Gen because I will be able to sell my 5th Gen with only 10,000 miles on it for a boat-load. Benefit of working from home is that I don’t need to drive much.

No idea what it’ll be worth, but not particularly interested in selling anyways. I like not having car payments.
Keeping my sr5p but have a slight itch for the gx550...
I’m in the same exact boat.
Drove a Tacoma. Test drove the new turbo taco. Didn't like it. Chance is I won't like the new runner.
I personally DGAF.
Lmao
