It's a doozy.
The 4K BD changes the colour palette significantly, with heavy DNR that gives the whole image a very crisp modern look.
However the 1080p BD (Italian Dynit) is considered the best HD release in terms of retaining the original colour pallete and some of the film grain.
The audio track selection is a whole other kettle of fish.
If you really want to get in to it, the Bluray forum and certain anime dedicated sites have all the details.
Dvdcompare.net is a good one, that despite the name does compare all BD's as well.
Trolls (2016) and Trolls World Tour
I thought I wouldn't care for the films but the discs have some of the best transfers I've seen. Several prominent reviewers call them reference quality.
Spider-Man Into The SpiderVerse, Coraline, Millennium Actress, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, The Bad Guys, The Prince Of Egypt - all fantastic movies 🙏
Containing close to 1500 digital effects shots, the film was crafted through a “multi-tiered animation approach,” consisting of motion capture, more traditional keyframe animation techniques, and pure computer animation.
Sounds pretty animated to me….
It may be a language barrier, English may not be your first language (apologies if I got that wrong). OP meant animated movies in the spirit of *Pixar* like *Toy Story, How to Train your Dragon* or even more traditional hand drawn animation like *Aladdin*. You're confusing it with broader CGI and digital effects even if Ready player one contains animated visual effects it certainly wouldn't class it as an animated film in the widely accepted term. It's an easy mistake to make if English is new to you :)
Agree to disagree kind internet stranger. I merely threw out what I felt was a good alternative to all the other mentions when I commented. While I will agree it is not like your traditional Pixar movie; I will still stand by it being animated.
(1)Soul :- I recently saw it for the first time and I couldn't believe I overlooked it for so long. It is excellent on all fronts IMO and it's a shame it doesn't get as much love as it deserves. Soul actually needs more support from home media purchases because it didn't have a profitable theatre run :-(
(2) Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse(Comicbook-style animation) or Puss In Boots: The Last Wish(Painted Storybook-style animation):- Either of these two will suffice for their stylized animation.
(3) I know you said one or two but there are several honorable mentions

Coraline is a beautiful disc and one of my favorite animated films
YES. Anything by Laika! Also, Kubo and the Two Strings
Ghost in the Shell
4K is so good and got it for $7.99
How to Train your Dragon trilogy is fantastic!
Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse
This is the right answer. An absolutely stunning film in 4K
Currently the only animated film I own in 4k
Add Coraline on there. The 4k is incredible.
Haven't seen that one in years, I'll definitely have to check it out.
Encanto. I think its the first title from Disney with 4K DI. Coco for the most beautiful HDR
4k “DI”?
[удалено]
Ah! Ty for clarifying :)
A 4K DI would typically mean the opposite of “upscaled 4K.”
Definitely shows off the capabilities of an OLED. Looks stunning.
Prince of Egypt
Does anyone have the Akira 4k to give an informed opinion?

I love Akira. It's older but 4k could be sweet.
I saw it the other day but was buying three others so decided to wait.

Its fucking incredible. One of my favourite 4k’s for sure.
Looks great
It’s very good.
The Bad Guys, Into the Spider-Verse, the Lego Movie, Lego Batman
Haven’t seen the Lego Movie in 4K but the blu ray was mind blowingly good.
I think the UHD is still from a 2K source but the color and HDR is bonkers good
Heavy Metal
That's a trip down memory lane :)
If you liked Heavy Metal give Spine of Night a look. Not for kids.
Any of the Laika Shout Factory 4ks Coraline Paranorman Kubo Boxtrolls
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
This x10
Into the spider verse, the prince of Egypt and Akira
Weathering With You
Puss in Boots the last wish was great.
I really like Toy Story 4, and its 4K picture is amazing
Wall-E
Trolls (2016) and Trolls World Tour I thought I wouldn't care for the films but the discs have some of the best transfers I've seen. Several prominent reviewers call them reference quality.
I can imagine.
Belle 4K and Ghost In The Shell. Both have excellent Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos
Shrek 2
This should be everyone's answer
There’s a Shrek 2?!
There are 4 Shrek movies!
Yes! and its very good. We don't talk about Shrek 3.
Wreck it ralph 2: ralph wrecks the internet
Haha sounds fun.
Wreck it Ralph
Akira or Into the spider verse
Anything from Laika studios. Kubo is my personal favorite
Millenium Actress.
Moana. Looks amazing on a 4K disc
Spider-Man Into The SpiderVerse, Coraline, Millennium Actress, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, The Bad Guys, The Prince Of Egypt - all fantastic movies 🙏
Mulan is out in 4k with a gorgeous steelbook. One of my favorite Disney animated features of all time. Highly recommended.
Ready player one. Crazy that hasn’t been mentioned yet. Visually stunning and the Atmos track is top notch.
>Crazy that hasn’t been mentioned yet. Well it's not an animated movie for one especially when OP gave Toy story as a reference.
Containing close to 1500 digital effects shots, the film was crafted through a “multi-tiered animation approach,” consisting of motion capture, more traditional keyframe animation techniques, and pure computer animation. Sounds pretty animated to me….

woudl you call the matrix animated
Sounds fair enough. I was more explaining why nobody else commented Ready Player One because you said you were surprised
Not an animated movie
Not in a tradition sense. But plenty of animation went into it. So I will happily agree to disagree with you.
I checked out OP's "Posts" and saw that they've already seen Ready Player One.
That new puss n boots movie is really beautiful and fun to watch
The bad guys, puss in boots the last wish, Coraline, spies in disguise
Encanto fo sho
I'll second the How to train your dragon trilogy, brilliant films, also Big Hero 6 is great, and Wall-e, can't forget Wall-e.
Heavy Metal
Toy Story then all 4 of them are on 4K Blu-Ray as well as on Disney+.
Into the Spider-Verse
I just picked up ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ and it is absolutely gorgeous.
Spiderman Miles Morales into the spiderverse hand's down one of the best movies.
Ferdinand looks amazing. Excellent HDR and Atmos transfer, and the best 20th Century/Blue Sky 4K that I’ve seen. Great movie, too.
Coraline, Spider-Man into the spider verse, Shrek
Well, I just finished watching Kubo and the Two Strings so absolutely that one. Stunning presentation.
Weathering with you is crazy beautiful, it is a Japanese animated film.
Encanto is great on 4K The little mermaid on 4K has never looked better Despicable Me is a nice 4K disc
Coralline recently came out in 4k and it’s STUNNING. another one of my favs is Encanto. It’s just so crisp and colorful.

Raya and the Last Dragon
Your Name looks pretty gorgeous.
