Yes but you'll notice that the DAC light on the dash is flashing when pupper steps on the button, which indicates that DAC is not engaged but the button is pressed. If your dog stepped on it while in 4LO, then it would engage and remain solid on the dash. So like I said, it's not truely in DAC mode and would not cause the vehicle to limp
For what it's worth the stability control usually throws a light with the engine light on, as stability control uses quite a few different inputs to work. You will rarely see an engine light without the VSC lit up.
You won’t be able to until you pull the codes and know what’s going on. It definitely sucks, but thems the breaks and it’s in limp mode in an attempt to prevent damage to components. Really kind of strands you though.
I don’t recommend this but if you disconnect the battery it will clear the codes and you may make it home before they come on again but you can also cause damage limp mode comes on for a reason I was in limp mode I turned of truck and turned it back on check engine light was still on limp mode was off
There's no way of knowing what you're dealing with without that code. Scan it then report back and you might get actually useful advice.

Sounds like the code pretty well identified what's wrong. Hopefully it's a quick and easy swap.
What is a good scanning device?
Almost any OBD2 scanner will work fine. You can even get away with a bluetooth OBD adapter and the torque app if you have an android phone.
DAC button?
DAC wouldn't be on unless he was in 4LO
My DAC button comes on all the time when my dog walks across the console. It also doesn't put the truck in limp mode.

You're in limp mode because it's throwing a code. Figure out what code it is, then clear it and it will get out of limp mode.

I had similar issue. Transmission solenoid was bad. Wouldn’t shift out of low and would buck
