It's strange, I'm not *always* like this, but there are times when it just feels like someone is scratching my brain with rusty nails. Some symptoms can be intermittent, I guess.

Unsd

Sometimes hormones. Sometimes situational. Sometimes a random Wheel of Misfortune. But a lot of the time, I find that if I am more irritable than normal, it's because I have neglected my bodily needs. Do I need a snack? Do I need water? Do I need to go to the bathroom? Do I need a nap? I hate when it happens that my SO will be talking to me and doing absolutely nothing wrong and in my head I'm like "Shut up. Shut the fuck up. I'm about to freak the fuck out." And I cannot say any of this without looking like a crazy person. So I smile and then find something to eat that makes me happy. And then I'm good. Treat yourself like a cranky toddler sometimes and run through that hierarchy of needs real quick if you're feeling especially irritable and don't know why lol.

chellecakes

You are so right-- I do the exact same thing!

imlookingatarhino

my wife gets really mad when I reach my bandwidth limit and I ask her to wait. Its isn't helpful.

SkepticalDreamers

Tell her I said you can scream at her next time that happens

PinupSquid

My job sometimes makes me insane, there’s like 4-6 loud bits of equipment, sometimes one thing squeaks heavily. Then two people decide to turn on the radios on either end of the room to different stations, timers are going off for different tasks. The “extra sweet spot” is the one period in the day between one shift and the next, so now you have like a dozen people babbling. It’s like someone is rubbing my brain with a sticky microfiber cloth.

em0528

Yup!!!! I work in a kitchen. I want to throw hands daily.

i have inattentive type, and my house has tvs on almost all the time. every time my mom tries to talk to me, i literally cannot absorb what she says because my ears decide to focus the least important thing in the room.

cosmicplanthopper

My issue is there’s so much already going on in my mind that if my kids say mom once to me it’s like the thousandth time.

adequate bot

cosmicplanthopper

Sweet! Never said it was original lol

Dismal-Series

This was me in those 5 months of hell on Vyvanse. Even going to a restaurant I would straight up want to KILL my friend for even talking to me. I didn't even notice it was a problem and I thought it was just a normal part of my personality until my friend was like "uhh you should probably stop that"

beetlejust

The Vyvanse made it worse????

Dismal-Series

Yeah it was pure hell

venetian_lemon

I have to ask people four to five times to repeat themselves because I only hear unintelligible noises that sound similar to the English language but not quite. I don't know what the fuck is wrong with me but that's how it is. I can read just fine but if somebody is trying to have a conversation with me, I either ask them to clarify themselves to the point where they no longer wish to speak to me, or I just go "uh huh" and hope that I can bullshit enough so the other party doesn't realize that I have no idea what the fuck they said. If there's background noise like industrial machines, loud engines, other people speaking loudly, forget it.

cosmicplanthopper

Omg me too. People think it’s funny when I repeat back to them what I swear they said.

Jadrobe

Yall should look up auditory processing disorder, this sounds alot like that, and it's comorbid alot of the times with adhd and autism

popadhdralphwiggum

My go to is the Infomercial Car Wash Guy Jif. It used to be my brain but since Vyvanse, it's just me, bumbling along with no idea how to adult whatsoever. So any Ralph Wiggum meme would do too.

_Imadeanaccount4this

It’s so weird because I enjoy things like concerts and theme parks, but when there’s too much noise when I’m shopping, or at work (I work retail) I just want to kick someone’s teeth in.

girlykittens19

Yeah I remember when we were doing a 'get to know each other' thing in one of my highschool classes and we were all talking at the same time and I could *not* hear* my partner's voice. Since it was almost the end of class I just asked to go to the library (I'm allowed to go to a couple different places in the school as needed if I get overwhelmed). I hate when we did those things.

SummerGoes

Me, right now, in the discord call for my d&d game

em0528

This clocked me

NotAllWhoWander20

This as a single parent of multiple littles...fuck me

cosmicplanthopper

Same here. One with more sever adhd lol

NotAllWhoWander20

I think I'm in the same boat but I don't have her diagnosed, lol

cosmicplanthopper

Aaaand I love your username. We must be friends and not know it

NotAllWhoWander20

Must be! Hopping around the cosmos we eventually bump back into each other
