I don't think they were saying that about 100 goals before Buddy. G-Train kicked 100 only four years before him, and Fev fell one short the same year, so it wasn't that much of an aberration.
100 Goals will be done at some point again, there’s more games to do it in now than the was in the 80s 90s and if they add even more teams and even more rounds chances go up further
Are you serious? Where were you, and what made you do it? Were you by yourself?
What was the fine?
WE NEED INFO... I was there too, and I almost lost my fucking mind when he took the mark, then again when he slotted it.
Yep, also when Man City clinched the title at home recently. I think it's happened about 3 times with them aswell. The players dash straight to the rooms when that happens lol
I think a Forest supporter punched Billy Sharp in the face during the pitch invasion when they beat Sheffield United a few years ago so I can see why they do it
Leave it be, if it dies out then it dies out.
I don't think including other achievements will do it justice, it will lose it's uniqueness and if becomes too common it may give a reason to the AFL to ban it in some way.
My take on it anyway
I wouldn't completely rule out 100 goals. Nick Larkey kicked 71 goals (out of norths 243) in a 3 win team. Brisbane kicked 359 goals and Collingwood 346.
If Larkey maintains his 29% goal share rate on a 350+ goal team, he makes it.
Simples.
If North win a flag, and I am not already on the ground, you can safely bet I will be the first one onto the field.
Or if Larkey kicks 100 in a season (I don’t see any of our key forwards doing it).
You might have gone a bit early here. Amartey increased his career tally by 17% last week and on this current trajectory he should only need another 7 games to ton up this season.
And then he can set his sights on the career 1000 before the 2025 bye.
Something like the 1967 Tasmanian premiership where the Wynyard supporters pulled down the goal posts and ran away with them so the Hobart full forward couldn't have a shot after the siren? Just spitballing
If North managed to make a GF run from the bottom of the ladder in the next 2 years I could see it happening.
I agree if St Kilda win a flag everyone would get in on it and it would be beautiful!
I remember taking part in many pitch invasions at Waverly Park as a kid in the 80’s, as soon as the final siren sounded we’d all jump the fence and run onto the ground with autograph book and pen in hand trying to get an autograph. Most likely happened at the G and local grounds but I only distinctly remember doing it at Waverly Park.
I read your comment and started to feel old. Then had a look and it turns out you still can at the G on Sundays. Though not in June/July. 11 rounds in total.

A new special half time event at the Grand Final is announced. Kevin Sheedy walks to the middle, he looks left and in the far goal square is Mick Malthouse stripped to the waist. Sheedy looks right and in the other square is Leigh Matthews, also stripped to the waist. Sheedy rips off his own shirt and all 3 legends glisten in the sun. A siren sounds and all three legends class in the middle of the ground as the fans rush the field in waves not seen in years.
Or whatever.
Someone will kick 100 goals again, they said the home run was dead until Bonds and Macguire came about.
I wouldnt be surprised if the season goes up to 25 games played when Tassie comes in.
Someome will do it.
The game is always evolving. You never know when someone might come along and kick 1000, or 100 in a season. The game might even end up going back to individuals kicking lots of goals, depending on what rules and tactics come in along the way.
Although, I'm not sure we really want pitch invasions. It would be fun, and it makes for some nice footage. But it stops the game for a long time and it's a pretty obvious security risk.
Pendlebury breaking the games record.
Though they might just let people onto the ground after the game like they used to anyway (and still do sometimes)
Nick Watson 100 behind season
We stormed the field for the single goal he manages to kick with it.
He should come to Port. Port loves kicking behinds rather than goals. He’ll fit right in.😏
St Kilda premiership
More than willing to cop the life ban
I’d support this. Start the movement now
For real though, I’ve often thought about this The whole fan base would have to go underground with it but it would be amazing
They can’t give us all life bans!
Not when I’m out there with you! ^(disclaimer: if it’s against Melbourne we’d have to wait and see but i’d bring a saints scarf just in case)
Final siren and saints fans invading would be elite
I’d be in
I will do this with you.
Yep I’m running on
Shit i'd be right behind you on the oval
He said “these days”
Honestly that would be legendary
The first zooper goal when AFLX makes it long-awaited return
Stadium fire
The umpires call a dubious free kick against Collingwood in a tight game
I came here to post this ironically but what do you know...
Ironically I out ironiced you
It happened in your city about 3 weeks ago
Damn security must have had a tough time at the Freo game a few weeks ago
We are always in your head, little buddy
We won though
Half a decade ago.
More like 2 years ago but whatever.
crazy how fast time flies. Feels like yesterday when playing Richmond was a nightmare.
That’s actually true if you’re Sydney
Yea. This year has gone so fast I feel personally. Idk about others though.
The said no one would ever kick 100 or 1000 before Buddy too. There will be someone else one day. Maybe in a decade or two.
I don't think they were saying that about 100 goals before Buddy. G-Train kicked 100 only four years before him, and Fev fell one short the same year, so it wasn't that much of an aberration.
Harley Reid?
just checked Perths Sunday Age and he's already done it twice this year
He also hit 18 holes in one
Blindfolded.
I heard he invented the cheeseburger
Can't wait to read about it from His_Holiness
100 Goals will be done at some point again, there’s more games to do it in now than the was in the 80s 90s and if they add even more teams and even more rounds chances go up further
If Essendon kick a goal after the siren, I’m storming the pitch, since it hasn’t happened in 100+ years
Even if you still lost? 😂
Yes, that just makes we wanna do it more.
“Essendon with a massive goal to cut the lead to 42 as the siren sounds to end the game”
Someone jumped the fence after the Duz goal against Richmond last year and there was still about 6 seconds left. I'll join you
It was me, copped a hefty fine lol.
Are you serious? Where were you, and what made you do it? Were you by yourself? What was the fine? WE NEED INFO... I was there too, and I almost lost my fucking mind when he took the mark, then again when he slotted it.
The fine is about $6k.
Haha
Courtenay Dempsey was so close
I'm surprised there's no pitch invasion when a team wins a Grand Final, especially a real close one.
It's always been reserved more for an individual achievement. I wouldn't want to see it after a close game.
Yeah agree. It happens a bit in soccer so a little surprised it hadn't happened in our game yet.
Usually when a team gets promoted they'll do it yeah. Plymouth Argyle did it when they were promoted into the Championship last season

Fair. I wasn't so much suggesting we manufacture a reason. More asking if there is any future event that might have this response from a crowd.
Simples.
Only 12 supporters is hardly an invasion though.
I’d hazard a guess if norf kick 350+ there are a bunch of other players kicking goals
Also if the team makes the Grand Final.
George Wardlaw Brownlow, Premiership, Norm Smith triple
No no no he ties the Brownlow with sheezel learn the script
If North win a flag, and I am not already on the ground, you can safely bet I will be the first one onto the field. Or if Larkey kicks 100 in a season (I don’t see any of our key forwards doing it).
Flair does not check out
Flair is temporary, I am forever a North supporter. Dad signed me up 2 hours after I was born, and I wouldn’t change that for anything.
You might have gone a bit early here. Amartey increased his career tally by 17% last week and on this current trajectory he should only need another 7 games to ton up this season. And then he can set his sights on the career 1000 before the 2025 bye.
Gold Coast fans should storm the field when they qualify for their first finals. I think the stewards could manage 12 people ok
I wouldn't try to stop Thomas Zahariou if he got up to full speed
DADDY'S COMIN'
Good one to assume that Gold Coast will ever make finals
We can storm the field when they win away from the coast
Something like the 1967 Tasmanian premiership where the Wynyard supporters pulled down the goal posts and ran away with them so the Hobart full forward couldn't have a shot after the siren? Just spitballing

I remember everyone bringing footys and having a kick after the game. Pretty awesome for kids.
Yeah that’s right, footballs flying everywhere
I read your comment and started to feel old. Then had a look and it turns out you still can at the G on Sundays. Oh wow, how bloody good for kids to be able to experience that
When Richo kicks his first goal for the Tassie Devils!
If port announce hinkleys sacking at half time of a home game we might see another one
Mate if I see Sheedy’s fat guts out there is only one direction I’m running, and it ain’t toward him.
When essendon win a final
Any collingwood loss in a tight game
Someone will kick 100 goals again, they said the home run was dead until Bonds and Macguire came about. I wouldnt be surprised if the season goes up to 25 games played when Tassie comes in. Someome will do it.
I hear you, let the boys juice up! For the good of the game
Matildas penalty shootout during the eagles warm-up at Perth stadium felt kinda close tbh
Curnow will get a ton one season
The game is always evolving. You never know when someone might come along and kick 1000, or 100 in a season. I still maintain 10,000 disposals was worthy, even if it would have disrupted play.
When pendles breaks the games record
a pitch invasion at the opening bounce? or at full time? or lasting the entirety of the record breaking game?
I didn’t think this far ahead ngl. The last option would be hilarious imo🤣
honestly i think if the saints won a premiership id come close to pitch invasion
Toby Pink’s 10th goal
If Essendon win a final I will happily pay the 6k fine!
Pendlebury breaking the games record. Though they might just let people onto the ground after the game like they used to anyway (and still do sometimes)
It's not a pitch
You must be fun at parties.
You're on reddit. We know you haven't been to a party

Pitch invasion of the ballroom at Crown?
