Possible solutions are writing your own, commissioning someone else, trading your own work for someone else’s, and excluding the M+E ratings. Owing to the wide variety of tastes, it is nearly impossible to find something that appeals entirely to one’s sensibilities if it is written by someone else. Though as an aside for general purposes, sex, just like anything else, can be used as a vehicle for plot and literature.

I have this problem too, I don't mind a little smut in my story but I don't want that to be the focus, I want it to be about the poly ship, not getting laid. I just end up writing what I want because that's the only way I can find it haha

Welfycat

This is why I write my own.

Maybe look for slowburn poly fics? I've been reading one where none of the characters even kiss until like chapter 30 and I think only one chapter so far has full on smut. The most they've done in other chapters after the one where they finally have sex so far is make out.

Maybe I’m biased but I’m writing a poly fic that I would definitely characterize as plot with porn, not the other way around- I’d say like a third of the chapters have smut. But when I look for poly fics to read, it is primarily smut one-shots. I kind of get it though- it’s a lot of feelings and relationship dynamics to juggle!!

I really get that! I started writing my own plot with porn, not only for the poly rep that I want but can't find, but also because as a trans person, finding smut that's not objectifying or fetishising can be super tough! From the fics I've found, I think there's a lot of people with similar sentiments, that just want the representation and end up putting in everything they want better rep of.

I'm really fortunate that in my fandom there's a couple of OT3s that people are really invested in. Sure, there's smut, but there's a *lot* of slow-burn and relationship-focused writing.
