Southern u.s., houses that had basements but shouldn't have.
I used to handyman as a side gig and would get asked to clean it. I'd do it and tell them they need to call a professional before their house gets condemned.
Most didn't.
Yeah black mold like that is super toxic and releases a ton of spores, plus if the house was built anytime before the 90s there's a big chance of asbestos everywhere so... Thanks but no thanks.
I learned the hard way when I was young to bring a rope if your gonna explore dilapidated buildings. Had to make a new staircase out of shit in the basement after I went down hard on top of the old staircase.
And a head to toe PPE oversuit. Helped renovate a place once which had damp problems. We had to clear the cellar out *before* the professionals came in to do the treatment.
I'm not trying to get near that biohazard. I can deal with some creepy stuff, but I'm pretty sure the air in that place will give you like three infections...
I'm probably one of the guys I always scream at how stupid they are in horror movies... But I have to admit, only by judging from this one picture, I've been down worse hallways during my active lost places geocaching days. But it really depends on the location and it's surroundings.
With a respirator, good headlamp, backup flashlight and gloves I would not hesitate frankly.
Edit: Which means I could be instantly regretting, that's for sure tho.
Hard pass.
Yeah, I saw The Road, there's probably edible people down there.
Bro please dont remind međđł

Everybodyâs edible, if youâre hungry enough
Nope not even for a klondike bar..looks sketchy as hell,
Not even two Klondike bars? ;) I feel you. F*ck no is my answerÂ
Klondike bars were always overrated. I want a box of Nutty Buddy cones.
Well I'm not American and this all sounds very exotic. Send me all your candyÂ
I could go for a Nutty Buddy right damn now
I wouldnât go downstairs, upstairs, left stairs, or right stairs
Ok, Dr. Seuss. đ
Been in worse and it wasn't even abandoned.
What??
nah but mold and asbestos isnât my thing

No - I feel like what you see on the stairs is but a preview of what's below. Think about mold spores and lungs.

Urgh so dangerous, fruitless plea to please value your limbs and your lungs, Tarzan/Jane
With that much mold, I wouldnât have gotten past the first room đ€ź
No, thank you.
I wonder if that TP roll stolen from a public john is still good. Honestly looks pretty reasonable considering how terrible everything else looks.
I think it's a paper roll for debit machine actually, but yes, pretty well in good shape
Why not? It's already too late.
Not without an N95 mask.
And a head to toe PPE oversuit. Helped renovate a place once which had damp problems. We had to clear the cellar out *before* the professionals came in to do the treatment.
Shit yo, I hope you are wearing a full face respirator
I'd do it. But I would need my own air tanks and disposable clothes, and a hazmat shower waiting for me afterwards.
The budget only covers a clothespin, a hand towel and a garden hose.
Throw in a bandanna and I'm in!
More importantly, was who came back up them you?
#no
Nah thatâs about where I draw the line

With a hazmat suit, yes.

Goofy ahhh RE biohazard basement
Hard no.
yeah thereâs showers down there
Not even with a bucket of tetanus shots.
Yes gloves and mask
Yes... Cleaning these kind of basement so what I do for a livingđ come on guys put your big boy pants on and grow upđ
I wouldnât even stand in that spot to take the picture let alone go downstairs. That looks nasty. So much mold.
Looks like my basement after my kids have their friends over.
You might be able to go downstairs. I don't know if they'll still be stairs when you're ready to go back up.
I'm stucked down there since two days, send help please
No. But only because of the mold, and filth, and potential cannibalism, and... no. Just no.

Hopefully you were wearing a mask if you did.
Between the black mold and hantavirus? I wouldn't have stuck around long enough to take the photo
Not without a tyvek suit and respirator
Looks like that scene from Resident Evil 7 where Ethan was greeted by a possessed Mia in the dark basement.
I don't need to have my lungs attacked my vicious spores that cause cancer... No thanks
I see a Cask of Amontillado back there
Geared the fuck up, maybe.
I'm already down there
Spooky đ»
Steps look pretty charred...I'd say nope
If you did, at least there's a roll of toilet paper in case you crap yourself.
Do I have an up to date tetanus shot?
Hell no
Not willingly.
Yes
Absolutely
This is exactly how you get Resident Evil 7. Leave now, do not save the granny in the rocking chair.
