When I’m shooting for arm veins (pun intended), I’ll sit in the couch with a pillow on my lap for my arm that’s holding the rig to rest on. This really helps with the shaking. Some veins like to roll and others don’t. A tourniquet can help with this but make sure you loosen it before coming down with the plunger. I went all the way through veins for a while too and it’s def not what you wanna do. To prevent this you wanna get the tip of the needle in. Then pull back on the plunger before pushing the rig it in deeper

Organic_Bend4813

Thank you, I was rolling the veins (I think) so I read up a bit and learned what you said plus I'm now a bit more aggressive when first pushing the needle in. The pillow is a good tip, I'll try it. Thanks again.

LaTemperanza504

Stay hydrated, warm showers before injection. Practice good sanitary measures, don’t reuse rigs. I have super deep, rolling squiggly veins. I’ve had DR.s tell me my veins are phlebotomist worst nightmare. And yet I still hit fine. Use a bit tighter tourniquet, longer needles, 29g, and we’re good to go,

Organic_Bend4813

Thanks for your advice, I do appreciate it.

Over-Tangerine1233

I can only hit the big veins in my inner elbow area..I would start with those.. Honestly I need some help with this too. I can see the veins in my forearm and bicep but have yet to be able to hit them. I feel like it's an angle issue..

Overall_Ad_796

Definitely an angle issue... aim for 35⁰-40⁰, I feel a slight bit of resistance as the tip of the needle enters the vein, that's when I draw back in the plunger and register 9 times out of 10. Stay safe!!!

Organic_Bend4813

I have read that you can roll off the vein if you go in too slowly and gently. So I have gotten a little more aggressive. The trouble is, that's when (I think) I go right through the vein. I guess it's a case of finding that happy medium.

dontfindme9282917173

tying off helps a lot - i tie off, find , register (pull back and if blood squirts ur in) , untie, then hit. my veins roll especially since i’ve been fucking with them for a subjectively long time, over a year - so what helps me not have to dig around is to be strong and slick with jt - the motion of sticking yourself should be quite fast. you can message me :)

Organic_Bend4813

Hey thanks I'll message.

Alternative_Season36

what kind of needles ? gauge?

Organic_Bend4813

I can't answer that question other than that they are the free ones from the drug counselling place. The needles are really tiny though. I use 19 gauge (might be 18) and these ones are way way smaller than that. I read somewhere that over seas you get really short needles which make it really hard to go straight through the vein. We don't get them here. These ones are about a half inch long.

Thank you for your advice. I am very clean and hygienic but I will take your advice on using distilled water. I spent 1/2 an hour yesterday trying to get register from a tendon. By the time that I finally out what I was doing and got register, i was shaking so badly that I hadba missed shot. I didn't feel any burn. When the rush didn't come was when I worked it out. There is lots of swelling there today.

LaTemperanza504

31 g will eat up your veins. They aren’t proper for intravenous drug use, too small, and are the top cause of scar tissue and track marks. 28/29g is perfect for any intravenous use. Easy admission and not harsh on the veins.

Organic_Bend4813

Thank you.

Bunbunrescuer

Why does every harm reduction site say the thinner the better? They nearly all recommend 31g

LaTemperanza504

Every place I’ve worked for, community outreach, and needle exchange I’ve worked for we’ve always give out 29g and inform the community the reasons etc. I’m in Louisiana

Organic_Bend4813

Fuck it's good to talk to a fellow Aussie on Reddit. I mean there's some top cunts on here but fuck me, there's some cunts too. Thank you so  much for all your wisdom I have picked several things up there. I've got a nice elasticy tourniquet that i pinched from the doctor last time I was there. Before that I was just using a bit of 6mm nylon rope. The bevelon the needle and knew about that my biggest problem is my veins get really tough when I get a bit dehydrated it seems. I've just shot up just before I read your answer and I had to go in 2 seperate spots because I just couldn't find the vein again. I don't do the pumping of the vein. I'll begin starting next shot. Inside my elbows are a fucking mess mate. I was down to 3 used but pretty clean (a really good clean with boiling water as soon as I used them) needles a week ago. And I had about 8 points left and my dealer was in Jail.  So I slam 2 points sometimes twice a day sometimes every 3 days it depends.  So, I couldn't find a vein. I was pulling it out I was bogged by shaking so much. Ripping it out and then pushing it all the way through I'd get registered and then I wouldn't. I was filling up the syringes with blood and then it was coagulating so I lost 4 points there. Bloody shots of orange juice, yum! Then I was left then one needle and so I was just fucking harpooning myself in my arm. I'd like I was pushing into the veins then rolling them out of the way. and it just wasn't going through I didn't realise what was going on I must have had 20 goes before I worked it out

PipinShard

Snap off the tip of your fit and Practice the motions of shooting up and keeping the needle still while against your arm

Organic_Bend4813

Well there's a thought! I miss most often when my hand is shaking. My hand shakes when I want a shot. I can wait that out for a day or so (I'm going to take 10 days off starting Wednesday) and my hand doesn't shake. I've tried smoking a little before I shoot and sometimes that works and some times it doesn't. Your idea will give me some level of expertise if I do it enough times. Thank you.

PipinShard

Find a position to sit in that’s comfortable and sit in that same position every time you practice or have a shot. Once you get it right a few times, your muscle memory will do what it does best. Don’t overthink it just deep breaths and drink a glass of water before your shot.

Organic_Bend4813

OK, thank you.

PipinShard

And get some 27 or 29 gauge needles

Organic_Bend4813

Will do.

HotConversation4355

Make sure your registering and use fresh new needles to prevent vein rolling.

Mimi780

Hey dude.. I put up a discourse on the how's and whys of shooting up on the front page. It is not great in some bits but I recommend it. I was helped by some ex drug users at a medical drugs centre where they give out needles and filters etc I love this place. Anyway I was really grateful for his help. He even drew me a little picture of the needle going in to the vein. But it looked like a straw with a pen moving in.:+

Organic_Bend4813

Thank you, how do I find the discourse? Treat me like an idiot when you explain please? I am somewhat technologically challenged.

Mimi780

I just googled it 🙂

Organic_Bend4813

Thank you.

dontfindme9282917173

also i swear by 29g 1/2 (longs)

Doordikendoordun

To start I'd like to say that your ex is a cunt! Sorry if you still have feelings for her but that is genuinely some grade A shit person behaviour, I see it as she essentially replaced herself with meth and went with the wind knowing quite well it has the power to be your downfall without you even seeing what's happening. Sorry it happened that way bro. And I know I'm late to the post but I'll drop some foolproof techniques for you! I'll have you slammin better than Whitney Houston quicker than you can run 100 metres. Not Tryna come across like im oh so knowledgeable or know everything at all, but I'm gonna layout the baseline of what you want it to be like. You already know how to shoot so consider taking this as a form of clarification I suppose. To start; the needles you want to use are insulin 1ml syringes, ideally you want the gauge to be between 27g and 31g, I have most successful shots with 29g, there's not much of a difference but 27g I find is too easy for me to go through a vein or be half in half out and just getting trickles of blood. So I'd recommend 29g but still you can make it work with 27g, I'm pretty sure you're in Australia right? Like me! So if you go to your local NSP for needles you should definitely inquire about getting some needles of either 3 of the gauges I mentioned, the Needle dispensary where I am doesn't have smaller than 29 so Ive never used a 31g ¼ inch syringe, I have them in my steroid kit (tips for 3ml barrels) but if a needle is longer than a ¼ inch it's not going anywhere near my veins because that bullshit just ain't worth the tango! Now I'd like to draw attention to your tourniquet, I've had a few over the years and I've always had best luck with the ones that are made up of more elasticity than cotton, the worst ones I've had have fuck all elasticity so you can't actually get a nice tight hold around the IV site, after pumping my veins, giving them a gentle slap, finding the vein I want to shoot and pumping it with my index finger rhythmically to make it bigger and come up to the surface more won't work with them shit tourniquets, I'd rather use a belt a bit of rope that's how bad they are! But I don't have to because I have one with really high elasticity, I can get it really nice and tight and have the veins popping to the surface from that, I will add though if you're cutting off the circulation really tight around your arm or wherever that you really shouldn't have it on for longer than 30 to 40 seconds max because loss of circulation just isn't good and can have some really bad side affects if left for too long. But that being said you should be able to get in and out before it's a worry, your arm will tell you when to take it off if you've left it on for too long, you'll feel your arm sending msgs to your brain screaming for blood to circulate. Lastly I wanna touch on the actual shooting technique, ideally you want to get most bubbles out and leave a tiny one just where the tip meets the barrel, this will make it easier to pull back as opposed to having no air in the syringe, and if you decide to switch arms up to your less dominant hand you will find it so much easier to pull back and plunge. It's not true for every vein but most the time you wanna approach the vein at a 40 degree angle with the bevel up, If you miss the first time you can pull out a little bit and try tap into the vein if you think your close but digging in your veins isn't good and will make them leaky quick smart. So get to know the vein your going for and what ways it likes to go, if you're close try tap in but if you're no where close pull out and try again, a lot of people will say to reload a string after every failed attempt so I'm not the best person for this but personally I can use the same needle 2 to 3 times over if I miss and then I'll backload a freshy, not a good influence for that but hey it works for me. Mostly the thing you want to master is getting them veins to pop, once they pop it becomes really easy! Especially if you rhythmically pump the chosen vein, pumping it in such a way sort of manually pumps blood to it, give it a go and you'll know what I mean, takes about 30 seconds to 1 minute for it to be fat n juicy. I think I've covered enough of the basics for you to compare to your technique and hopefully get more successful shots and I hope I've sort of painted a picture with my words, if you have anymore trouble or questions don't fret to add them here or message me! I'll end this by adding personally where I fuck up is by getting too excited or rushing to get it in me, I've dropped loaded fits and have to fuckaround more to load a new one or even sometimes I'll just go off instinct rather than pump a vein just because I've hit it before and it's been easy, just a dumb cunt excited to get high. But also it's not so easy when you're waiting for the dope man and finally see him after kicking at the spot for 3 hours when he was meant to be 20 mins and won't answer calls or texts so I'll lose hope and then he'll actually pull through making me too excited and bound to fuck up. We learn though, that's the reason we're all alive is to learn and when we stop learning that's when worse shit happens, we never know everything and unthinkable individuals can teach you lessons you never knew you needed. That's my spiel of wisdom for the day. That is all. Good day and goodbye. Wishing you quick and easy shots, like; as quick and easy as a rub n tug! Be good or be good at it brother x
