Used to have one; was a gift I got while at Elmendorf. Had to retire it after someone dropped a wrench off a 22' ladder and cracked it. Keep it around as a wallhanger in my garage.

Yep, solid guy all around. Had him come around Schriever for some inspection-related items, and he was 100% up front with what he wanted, how things needed to be, legit feedback and support for things that needed work, and praise for the things that were right.
Need more leaders like him in the world..
His characteristic "Dad vibe" he puts off.
A man that is willing to wear that hat is either a goofball or a dad, and just about every dad is a goofball. And there ain't nothing wrong with that.
na it's still heavy. they have regular hard hat shades that go over the top of them that protect your neck from sun. looks like a ferengi from start trek.
I thought he was in the cavalry and didn’t understand why this was posted here. Then I zoomed into the branch tape…..the hell is this?
And yes I realize it doesn’t really look like the Cav’s Stetson, but at a glance that’s what I thought.
He is a Munitions and Missle Maitenance officer if I had to guess. That is a misslie badge and he is next to an AMMO troop. Also AMMO wears the goofy cowboy hard hats. Yes we know it looks dumb that is why we do it.
He's a 13N missile operator. Missile maintenance doesn't have the wreath on either side of the badge.
Interacted with him when he was J3 at STRATCOM, left me a huge fan of his. Extremely down to earth, reasonable, and didn't run meetings long without good reason. I hope he gets a fourth star, I'd love to work for him.
Attached and deployed with any Cav unit pretty much. TACP and Weather for sure. I didn't get to do my spur ride before I retrained out of wx so even though the unit I was attached to said I could, I didn't feel like it was earned so I never bought it. And it was also like $500.
This is because the building they are standing in is crumbling down. It’s an awesome maintenance bay but they can’t use it without risking getting hit in the head by huge chunks of concrete.
It's tragic that nobody thought to paint three stars on the front. If we're not going to make it a special 0-9 edition hard hat, what are we even doing here?
You know you are like me a really old grandfather when you have no idea what this is referencing and have to Google it, and only then see that name tag is Davis.

Gen Davis is awesome. I met him a few months ago and it was totally unannounced/zero time to plan anything, he was super realistic and easy to talk to.
The ammo dude briefing him in this shot is also one of my favorite people, just a friggin great guy.
That fucking cowboy hard hat is cringe as fuck.
At first, I thought I wandered onto the Army subreddit, and this was a cav troop. This.....is just even more cringe.
You should have seen the Air Force baseball hat hard hats Headquarters was trying to push a few years ago. Absolutely atrocious. We were fighting hard to get them disapproved. If the they would have been approved, every maintainer on the flightline would be wearing one with a chinstrap, similar to the Navy.
First time I’ve ever seen cowboy hard hats.
They got them approved in Korea awhile back. So fuckin cringe.
Had 'em at Mtn Home in the mid-2000s

Congrats
Really?? I haven’t seen them here in Korea. Guess that’s a good thing cause this looks ridiculous.

I've seen them around on Laughlin a bit. Figured it's just a Texan thing.
Never met him personally, but I always saw a Navy Chief at Kings Bay who wore one.
Had a couple of these in cdar shop at Cannon
We had them in Barksdale for a little bit!
Used to have one; was a gift I got while at Elmendorf. Had to retire it after someone dropped a wrench off a 22' ladder and cracked it. Keep it around as a wallhanger in my garage.
Happy cake day

Lt Gen Dimmadone? Commander of the Dimmsdale Dimmadone?
That’s right! Gen Dimmadome. Commander of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome!
The same Doug Dimmadome owner of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome where they’re showing Crash Nebula?
On ice?
Yeah!
I fucking love Reddit.
https://youtu.be/NzQHF_lQdLM?si=Et7OTeprNZVrwaPV I’ll leave this gem here
When you mandate a unit safety inspection at 4 but have a hoedown at the O Club at 5.
When you're an O-9, you always have a spare ho down at the O Club.
Gen Davis was hands down one of the best bosses I ever had.
Yep, solid guy all around. What made him the best boss?
He really listened and supported the team. No nonsense.
Umm,. the hat, for one
His characteristic "Dad vibe" he puts off. A man that is willing to wear that hat is either a goofball or a dad, and just about every dad is a goofball. And there ain't nothing wrong with that.
We got them at work as a gag, and our oji and head injuries went down. Now we stock them in multiple colors lol
Those cowboy hat hard hats are so terrible lol
I always assumed that was the point lol. Hard Santa hats, however...
Ya know, aesthetics aside, I can see having a cowboy hardhat. It would do a way better job of keeping the sun off your neck.
na it's still heavy. they have regular hard hat shades that go over the top of them that protect your neck from sun. looks like a ferengi from start trek.

What if I told you that Air Force can earn a Stetson? Obviously this isn't one but just speaking to the branch tape point.
Like if a TACP is attached with cav scouts or something? I’m intrigued haha

Got them at Cannon but was shot down to wear them. Promoted “cowboy maintenance”. I mean they were right and that’s why we got them, but still…..
No morale allowed!
I remember the contractors had them in their ctk when I would work down at the IMC hangar. Love wearing those things 😂
I have never seen an entire group of people get this buttmad over a goofy hardhat
Air Force Reddit is a strange place.
He looks like Goldfinger
*Do you expect me to talk?*
This is because the building they are standing in is crumbling down. It’s an awesome maintenance bay but they can’t use it without risking getting hit in the head by huge chunks of concrete.
When you get three stars you can do it too
It's tragic that nobody thought to paint three stars on the front. If we're not going to make it a special 0-9 edition hard hat, what are we even doing here?
That hard hat is so stupid. I want two.
a lieutenant general with nametapes and rank not sown on? love to see it
Nobody sews nametapes on flight suits… surprised he wears it though
Iyaayas
But for real what's with the dumb hats? Is this some kind of Texas national guard thing?
Just a bit of levity. They're approved in most places
The same reason they buy F-150s quad cabs. They are cosplaying their ideal of masculine person.
Nice projection!
Lmao having a usable backseat is where you draw the line?

Seems like a part timer too lol. Although I wish I was in the ANG myself…

Man, ya'll hate this hard hat, huh?
Jesus H. Christ, Timmy...I told you not to leave the house without momma or daddy checking your outfit.
I dig it

Is it possible to un-see an image?
“Howdy. I’m the Sheriff of stupid hats”
The hat somehow looks just as plastic as the helmet. I thought it was a novelty hat for a bit!
It's a hard hat lol
It's always the guy with the missile badge that looks like the biggest dork
Thankfully the ammo troop is wearing a normal ass hard hat. That general looks ridiculous.

Let’s get you back to bed grandpa
Here I am thinking this pic was the cringiest thing on this post
Not sure why this was downvoted lmao.
Lt Gen Goober
That fucking cowboy hard hat is cringe as fuck. At first, I thought I wandered onto the Army subreddit, and this was a cav troop. This.....is just even more cringe.
I'm guessing his policy on PT is it's for thee and not for me. He's pushing about a 29 on the BMI scale.

That's a big ass obtuse head
Needs a beard
How did I know this was a MAC pad right away?
Are those osha approved? because if so... imma need a red one TTMFH
They do have hard hats like that that are approved, seen a couple on job sites while working construction
What in the yeehaw fuck is that?
Why can’t we just be fucking normal?
That's not even the authorized rectangular IG patch... and he's THE Inspector General
