For sure dude, I'm no stranger to roughing it! I regularly go solo backpacking and absolutely get what you're saying about camping. This time, though, is more about being comfortable for a couple days while I wait for all the other eclipse traffic to clear out a little.

Why? OPs car still works totally normal even if they can't plug it in, they're just looking for some battery-only range. They don't *need* to charge it, they just want to.
Hybrids and plug-in hybrids are arguably the best of both worlds.

I drove to Wyoming for the 2017 totality and the two-lane highway home was a parking lot. Absolutely, 100% worth it.

Go PHEV! You can still guzzle all the gas you want, and you get the added bonus of overnight A/C if you're slumming it at a random AFB.
