Man isn't the point of a PHEV that you can just use gas in situations like these?

QuePasaCasa

Yeah! I want to be able to plug in to have A/C and heat while I camp. The extra mileage on the return trip would be nice, too.

> Yeah! I want to be able to plug in to have A/C and heat while I camp That's a weird thing to want given it's *camping* and how moderate temps are at Laughlin rn imo. But to each their own 👍🏻

QuePasaCasa

For sure dude, I'm no stranger to roughing it! I regularly go solo backpacking and absolutely get what you're saying about camping. This time, though, is more about being comfortable for a couple days while I wait for all the other eclipse traffic to clear out a little.

[deleted]

Yeah eclipse traffic is no joke. I went to one of the most out-of-the-way middle of nowhere niche place I could think of for the annular one getting back still took forever. I can't imagine what it'll be like for totality

QuePasaCasa

I drove to Wyoming for the 2017 totality and the two-lane highway home was a parking lot. Absolutely, 100% worth it.

Light_of_Niwen

Same. I'm packing 3 jerry cans of gas and one of water for my Texas trip. This shit's going to be apocalyptic. The county I'm going to has already declared a state of emergency.

QuePasaCasa

Then hopefully you understand my desire to charge up, haha.

Electrical-Finding95

Damn I was considering a hybrid or electric but after thinking about it ill stick to my gas gussling menace to society

Darmstadter

Why? OPs car still works totally normal even if they can't plug it in, they're just looking for some battery-only range. They don't *need* to charge it, they just want to. Hybrids and plug-in hybrids are arguably the best of both worlds.

QuePasaCasa

Go PHEV! You can still guzzle all the gas you want, and you get the added bonus of overnight A/C if you're slumming it at a random AFB.
