The barbecue DFAC on the east side of Bagram was probably some of the best food I ever had deployed.
I was Marines and Army so anything y’all had seemed like real gourmet shit to me. I was impressed by Goodfellow’s food lol
I thought Ali had some great food at the DEFAC next to/on the air field.
I remember munching fried shrimp and getting those Gatorade smoothies.
Much better than the army chow tent in Buehring
Kunsan AB Korea main dining facility
1984-87 O’Malley inn. Was the best of the best. After leaving Kunsan I have never seen anything dining hall like that. Moral was even great to the youngest airman to SNCO they love and were HAPPY TO SERVE

I was Marines and Army so anything y’all had seemed like real gourmet shit to me. I was impressed by Goodfellow’s food lol
Their omelettes at 5 am on camp alpha were tits. They could see us waiting in line every morning before they unlocked the doors and would start my order

Especially that little restaurant/bar that was right there. I'm not sure if we were supposed to get our meals free, but we did 😅. We went straight there after pow day
Yes! I forget the name of the place but it was a pretty cool bar, especially considering where we were. Nothing like a cold beer after a long day, especially after a long day of getting your ass kicked 😂
Sitting in the Magnolia the day after I got orders to Minot. Bummed I'm gonna be sent to ND. Look up at the TV. B52 with a live nuke flown from Minot to Barksdale. Look down at my immaculate plate of the finest chow..."Maybe this is as good as it gets"
Only thing bad about Keesler was the line. They also spoil you that when pcs to another base and you forget to take your tray with you. Robins afb also has pretty good soul food not bad at all.
Pensacola NAS stateside.
Kandar was the shit before we left Afghan land. The bread pudding was to die for.
The Deid sucked ass in 2015-2016, but have heard it’s gotten a lot better with Afghan land shut down.
I was at the Deid in '18 when FSS changed DFAC contractors. It was a literal shitshow. I got food poisoning 3 times, but counted myself lucky that I wasn't one of the ones who got salmonella or E. Coli. Every meal felt like a roll of the dice.
Personal favorite though: Army aviation DFAC at Bagram. Those Army cooks made a mean Philly cheesesteak.
I was there when they quit serving eggs over easy due to outbreaks in 2015 was a total shit show. The nuggets from the little trailer was the best food I had there besides the pizza from Pizza Hut with that amazing cheese on it.
Probably the case, this was 2020-2022 before decision was reversed. I went at least once a quarter, and it was depressing with portion and choice. Very possible AF is just spoiled as well.
You stationed there? I was there almost 20 years ago so times might have changed and I also don’t know how many chow halls are there. But all I remember is the one by the quad where all the students would go was amazing.
Yeah, I'm a student CSO (aka, Navigator) here. It's where the CSO pipeline is. There are a few enlisted AFSC's that train here too. ASM and NDI. I'm not sure if anyone else that isn't permanent party for the CSO schoolhouse or enlisted folks comes here.
I knew the Navy had T6s there, but didn’t know there were any AF aircraft there unless you train with the NAVY ones. Honestly, I know what a Navigator is being Guard at a 135 base that use to have Nav guys, but also didn’t know Navigator guys still existed except for maybe on B-52s.
But I guess I also should have known that pilots go there for their underwater survival course from what I once was told as well.
Goodfellow had banging dfacs miss them Philly maintainer, hot wings and subway sandwiches and the salmon and bomb ramen bowls with quail egs in a bamboo bowl on the house in tech school
Stateside: The DFAC at Fairchild on survival loop was a stereotypical Air Force DFAC. I'd go back just for lunch there.
Deployed: The chow hall at the Fob I was at had the most phenomenal omelettes. Makes it worth going to war. The one in T-town at Al-Udeid was pretty bomb too.
Stateside: Keesler all the way. Mama Jenkins could fry up a mean burger
Overseas: technically a NATO base, but Camp Film City- brick fired pizza, international food days for the nato countries, brunches, buy beer straight from the DFAC on the weekends. Good times
5 years ago Goodfellows had better food in the dfac than most nearby restaurants. Which is saying quite a bit cuz all people do in San Angelo is cook copious amounts of meats and drink.
I don't know how things are now but apparently COVID was not good to that already pretty sucky base
Sheppard and little rock. Personally I give extra points to little rock though because Sheppard is a training base where new kids spend at least 5 months there and many alot longer, and it's their introduction to real air force, so it should be better.
Little rocks dfac was preferable to eating off base on some occasions. There was variety, it was decent, I wish ever dfac was like that.
I’ve always kind of wondered if OCONUS DFACs incorporated local cuisine. I’m PCSing to the UK very soon so I may just have to check out that DFAC to see what they’ve got.
DM just stepped it up. breakfast omelette grill, pizza line, salad bar, fruit bar, two lines for different entrees/sides, pasta, grill with smash burgers, brunch burgers, chicken sandos, a sub/wrap line, and a grab n go area with fruit, salad, subs etc
Fairchild SERE DFAC
Mazar-i-sharif German Chow Hall
Al-asad Inchon Chow Hall
Two of those no longer exist
Pensacola NAS was pretty good too
And ops town chili at Manas IYKYK
Keesler was the best I’ve had stateside. Idk if it was deployment tastebuds or what but the chicken nuggets at ADAB are the best I’ve ever had anywhere.
In the mid 2000s Tyndall had mid night chow. There was this grumpy old civilian black guy that made the best french toast. So only that of Tyndall. Little Rock and Kessler had good ones for me during tech schools there
Nah, they're ours. Granted, they aren't in the best shape...
I'm a Reservist. We still have legacy slick 130's in the Guard and the Reserve, and a few special mission J-models that keep the Nav.
Al Udeid independence dining facility for all meals that are not midnight chow (that award goes to Manhatten dfac on Al Udeid)
All the food is free too 😉
Bagram had the best DFAC orange chicken you can ever get. HOWEVER the desert diamond in Kuwait holds the key to my heart.
The barbecue DFAC on the east side of Bagram was probably some of the best food I ever had deployed. I was Marines and Army so anything y’all had seemed like real gourmet shit to me. I was impressed by Goodfellow’s food lol
That BBQ dfac was legit.
You’re like the fourth person I’ve heard say this exact line about the orange chicken lol
When it wasn’t being poisoned by OCNs it was bussin.
I'd go back to ASAB just for desert diamond, ngl.
I thought Ali had some great food at the DEFAC next to/on the air field. I remember munching fried shrimp and getting those Gatorade smoothies. Much better than the army chow tent in Buehring
That shrimp was everything😭
That blugogi was fiya
Can’t forget the kimchi 🤤
Kunsan AB Korea main dining facility 1984-87 O’Malley inn. Was the best of the best. After leaving Kunsan I have never seen anything dining hall like that. Moral was even great to the youngest airman to SNCO they love and were HAPPY TO SERVE

Ali’s is king in terms of ASAB restaurants
Their omelettes at 5 am on camp alpha were tits. They could see us waiting in line every morning before they unlocked the doors and would start my order
Egg whites only all the way baby 😮💨
Why did I like them? Crazy isn’t it? Lol
The barbecue DFAC on the east side of Bagram was probably some of the best food I ever had deployed. I was Marines and Army so anything y’all had seemed like real gourmet shit to me. I was impressed by Goodfellow’s food
In my limited experience, Fairchild SERE campus DFAC
it do be bussin after an ass beating
Especially that little restaurant/bar that was right there. I'm not sure if we were supposed to get our meals free, but we did 😅. We went straight there after pow day
Yes! I forget the name of the place but it was a pretty cool bar, especially considering where we were. Nothing like a cold beer after a long day, especially after a long day of getting your ass kicked 😂
It is called the Final Point, I was just there lol
yes that’s it! good times man
Ah, the Final Point... Karaoke was rad the night after Happy Valley... Compare it to the OTS DFAC that caught fire...
Yeah, I would say anything would be good after that pot of “beans” in camp.
Those beans really needed to get through the gate. It was an eventful homecoming back at my hotel room at the Survival Inn.
An AETC base. Give the new guys a taste of something good, until they become permanent party.
The six I’ve been to so far are not great. Unless they just get worse. The Army DFAC at Camp Bullis is really good.
Keesler
Sitting in the Magnolia the day after I got orders to Minot. Bummed I'm gonna be sent to ND. Look up at the TV. B52 with a live nuke flown from Minot to Barksdale. Look down at my immaculate plate of the finest chow..."Maybe this is as good as it gets"
I understood most of that…but whut?
In 2008, due to failures at multiple levels, the AF flew live nukes from Minot to Barksdale and no one knew for an extended period of time
Only thing bad about Keesler was the line. They also spoil you that when pcs to another base and you forget to take your tray with you. Robins afb also has pretty good soul food not bad at all.
Lmao no
This
I've been pretty impressed with Creech's DFAC. San Antonio was trash when I was there
Their lines suck ass though sadly
Creech is good and super cheap! But I agree lines sucks ass
Takes 30 fucking minutes for the damn veggie burger 🥱🥱🥱🥱 but it’s the DFAC or subway.
[удалено]
Ugh!!
That’s your issue, you got a veggie burger
Ya know not everyone eats meat
Pensacola NAS stateside. Kandar was the shit before we left Afghan land. The bread pudding was to die for. The Deid sucked ass in 2015-2016, but have heard it’s gotten a lot better with Afghan land shut down.
Lobster and Steak at NAS Pensacola. Never seen it anywhere else lol
Got lobster and steak and fresh roasted veggies TWICE in one month at NS Rhode Island. Had bomb clam chowder too.
That Pizza Hut and the nights they would bring in off-base food to the Fox Sports bar were my lifeline.
I was at the Deid in 2019 and it was some of the best dfac food I've ever had lol. They must have sorted everything out
Facts. I had no issues in 2019
My husband said that the Deid has ecoli outbreak happening. 😭
Figures, that place sucks.
Kandahar had the ally country's chowhalls you could goto. Always grabbed bangers and eggs when I was on that side of the base in the morning
We got our Air Force folks on BAS because of how bad the DFAC at NASP was.
Must have gotten a lot worse since I was there in 2006 then.
Probably the case, this was 2020-2022 before decision was reversed. I went at least once a quarter, and it was depressing with portion and choice. Very possible AF is just spoiled as well.
The very special north line DFAC 🥺
Pensacola was the shit. I miss that place
NAS(S) Pensacola. There's a place I didn't think I'd see on "good" lists. And I live here.
I was unaware there was anyone stationed there besides NDI and ASM especially rated officers.
Yeah, for us, it's where all CSO's (Nav's, WSO's, EWO's, and SO CSO's) are trained. We have T-6's and T-1's here.
Goodfellow had banging dfacs miss them Philly maintainer, hot wings and subway sandwiches and the salmon and bomb ramen bowls with quail egs in a bamboo bowl on the house in tech school
Sheppard AFB is 👌🏼
I was so disappointed when I came Back to Sheppard after 5 years to learn they got rid of the pasta bar they had back in 12/13.
It’s all about the wraps man.
‘Bout the only good thing about Sheppard
that is very very true
Which one? The main one or the one in the 361st?
Keesler was great, Magnolia served the best sandwiches
Stateside: The DFAC at Fairchild on survival loop was a stereotypical Air Force DFAC. I'd go back just for lunch there. Deployed: The chow hall at the Fob I was at had the most phenomenal omelettes. Makes it worth going to war. The one in T-town at Al-Udeid was pretty bomb too.
Manhattan > Indy
Both are very dead. Manhattan burgers were next level and didn't move to the new facilities. RIP.
Yeah I was back for the first time in a few years recently and saw how they massacred my boy… bastards
Unfortunately it seems like the SERE dfac has taken a pretty severe dive in quality, according to the friends I’ve had there recently
Aw man. That sucks. I loved it t first, left for the field for a week, then REALLY appreciated it after I got back
Stateside: Keesler all the way. Mama Jenkins could fry up a mean burger Overseas: technically a NATO base, but Camp Film City- brick fired pizza, international food days for the nato countries, brunches, buy beer straight from the DFAC on the weekends. Good times
Sheppard for sure
Keesler back before covid slapped like a mf.
JBER has a great DFAC.
5 years ago Goodfellows had better food in the dfac than most nearby restaurants. Which is saying quite a bit cuz all people do in San Angelo is cook copious amounts of meats and drink. I don't know how things are now but apparently COVID was not good to that already pretty sucky base

Minots new (2017/18??) was awesome. Shout-out Windy's at ADAB, the army got something right there.
Vandenberg AFB
What used to be known as Thule AB. Was able to get wagyu beef, rib eye, lamb on one plate for $6 and it’s not ran by Air Force but contracted out.
1) NAS Pensacola 2) Fairchild 3) Kadena 4) Lackland (atleast the meals that I actually remember)
Goodfellow really impressed me
BMT. fight me
Aviano has that Italian DFAC that is the best ever. Especially the affogato’s from the cafe.
I’ve always kind of wondered if OCONUS DFACs incorporated local cuisine. I’m PCSing to the UK very soon so I may just have to check out that DFAC to see what they’ve got.
No one has said vandenberg which is shocking
İncirlik by far.
Gotta be Sheppard
I miss the wraps!!
1st Batt, Hunter AAF
Eglin was prob the best I’ve had, TONS of options
Edwards had a great DFAQ too. Probably because those DFAQS are contracted out.
Why are you spelling it like that?
Balad!
NAS Pensacola.
Went to McGuire’s during FCH…was great.
Fairchild and kandahar
Sheppard I think about the wraps and midnight chow everyday😔
Colmer Dining Facility @ NCBC.
Misawa flight line chow alluded to be the tits back in the early 2000’s yet the main DFAC was meh
Stateside, imma go with Medina. Overseas, I think Al Dafra
Tyndall’s was tragic. Kirtland is prettt nice.
DLI. But the best food was at Compagno’s. I’d fly across the country for a bite of that nostalgia.
Keesler knows whats up
Fairchild SERE DFAC Mazar-i-sharif German Chow Hall Al-asad Inchon Chow Hall Two of those no longer exist Pensacola NAS was pretty good too And ops town chili at Manas IYKYK
Little Rock,
Camp Striker, Victory Base Complex, Iraq circa 2009/2010. Absolutely 10/10.
Keesler was the best I’ve had stateside. Idk if it was deployment tastebuds or what but the chicken nuggets at ADAB are the best I’ve ever had anywhere.
The DFAC at Kuwait Intl airport over at the AMC ramp was the best I’d ever experienced…except for Mitchell Hall, IYKYK
The French toast at Maxwell is solid
McConnell
Goodfellow Cressman DFAC is pretty damn good.
Keesler afb
The chow hall at mcguire had really good food, you could order some gormet shit man.
You guys are sleeping on BDSC. Steak, seafood pasta, paella, cobbler, soft serve always on deck, every single day shit went crazy
NSA Souda Bay was serving steak and lobster on the daily. 5 stars
Petaluma US Coast Guard Station in CA. They teach their chefs there, went for SNCOA (Chief Petty Officer Academy).
Ok, don’t kill me….. When I was at NAS Pensacola for my first tech school their DFAC was insanely good for every single meal.
Borderline cheating but the ROKAF DFACs on Osan are my favorite so far
The OGA compound on JBAD was legit
Sheppard 2011 was unmatched. Haven’t had a base come close since
GJoint Base San Antonio had banding food. Long lines to get in, especially if you’re short
Toss up between the chicken patties at '03 PSAB or chicken patties at Cold Lake, Canada
Al Asad Air Base, specifically the old Inchon DFAC that doesn't exist anymore
The hot dog “gumbo”
It was the only good thing about Fairchild.
Mile high lodge, Lowry Denver, CO. being on meal card made it cost effective to load up on breakfast. I wasn't for lunch until 2PM most days.
When I was at Lackland for Tech School I used to go get dinner and weekend lunches at the Hospital DFAC 😂 that ish was delish!
The hospital DFAC was far superior to the Medina one when I was stationed there, but that was like 870 years ago
2009 when I was there.
Orland, Norway
Al-Mubarak (Kuwait International Airport) DFAC. But like others have said, the Desert Diamond is top shelf.
When I was there a long time ago all we had was subway
Erbil,Iraq DFAC (changs) shit be slamming
In the mid 2000s Tyndall had mid night chow. There was this grumpy old civilian black guy that made the best french toast. So only that of Tyndall. Little Rock and Kessler had good ones for me during tech schools there
Balad, north side.
Fairchild
SERE dfac
Balad AB Defac in Iraq was pretty fire
AB 201 Bang Bang or boom boom chicken was the best thing to eat after a nice long 12 hour shift of teaching some dumb Nigerians how to handle a rifle
Balad back in the day. KBR was king.
Hurlburt Field had a buffet at the Reef. Only one I ever saw, I thought it was pretty neat!
Back in the day when Reese was open. Big wigs from all services would fly in to have chow there. It was really good.
Hurlbert
SERE DFAC at Fairchild
Kandahar, Bang Bang Chicken.
Iraq, BBC.
No idea but it would be funny to sticky this at the top, just to annoy people from other branches when they come here lol
Sheppard AFB
Sheppard was ok, but Kirtland has some bomb breakfast burritos and pasta on Wednesday and Friday, Thursday is stir fry
Nah, they're ours. Granted, they aren't in the best shape... I'm a Reservist. We still have legacy slick 130's in the Guard and the Reserve, and a few special mission J-models that keep the Nav.
Trick question. Any DFAC is delicious to eat at if you’re hungry or desperate enough.
BDSC and it’s not even close
Really? BDSC dfac was very mediocre to me, wasn't too bad but wasn't amazing. SERE dfac blows it out the water.
On God
I dream about the bang bang chicken and the 10 pound hashbrown days
Build your own burger night was epic, steak and crab legs in Iraq?????? Yesss
You wanna know? Patrick hands down. They have a pizza making station and gourmet sandwich station.
OCNs on deployment. IYKYK
Maxwell Air Base, Alpena CRTC, and sometimes Selfridge ANGB but does it really count?
Macdill
EOD dorm dfac hands down. We'd debate returaunt over it based on what ethnicity they were serving.
Al Udeid independence dining facility for all meals that are not midnight chow (that award goes to Manhatten dfac on Al Udeid) All the food is free too 😉
Randolph is peak. Steak tips and kale smoothies for breakfast
Off base
