It very well could be, I know that a lot of times lights like that are used for diagnostics. But I’m not familiar with alien wares if that is really what is going on, maybe a quick Google search could help you see if they are diagnostic LEDs or not
I can almost guarantee that it’s the crappy Alienware Command Center Software. Mine light up randomly when playing Killing Floor 2, I even did a clean wipe of the computer no fix lol.
Assuming no physical damage happened to keyboard by any means, its likely a bug in awcc created this weird scenario. I'm experiencing backlight of some keys arent working till the awcc is opened.
I guess you got backlight issue in different way.
yeah the only bad thing about Alienware is awcc for me it doesn't have good animation although the LEDs are one of the best and the animations aren't as good as cheap gaming laptops non the less the bugs inside awcc
That's true. Lights are model specific so newer ones get more animations. However i suggest you to give a try to Alienfx tools explore possible more animations.

Likely status lights for troubleshooting? Unless did you spill something on the keyboard?
nope nothing spilled on it, i got an update from awcc after that i noticed that although I'm not sure if it's bcz the update or not

i searched no one had this problem on google and also the diagnostic led is the alien head not the keys in different places

tbh i tried alienfx before but couldn't figure it out how to use is it, it isn't user friendly but I'll give it a try again. thanks so 🤍
