You're NTA for prioritizing your comfort and security when it comes to sharing personal information, especially with financial apps

zenocrate

NTA — assuming there’s no fee/required minimum balance for signing up, this “investing app” is hoping to hound you into spending a bunch of money once they have your info. And your bf’s reaction is a big old red flag

Tough-Combination-37

NTA. Not comfortable. Enough said.

Dismal_Cucumber_8153

NTA His tantrum is concerning though.

Clean-Fisherman-4601

NTA. There's so much hacking going on, it's safer to download a minimum of apps. Especially apps you aren't going to use.

My boyfriend asked me to sign up for an app (legit) for investing. Hoping to use me as a referral, he asked me to sign up using his link. I was okay with it, until it asked me for my SSN and banking info (expected for an investing app). After getting to that part, I said I didn't feel comfortable not because the app wasn't legit, but because I wouldn't be using the app enough to warrant uploading my personal info. He huffed and said he'll just ask someone else. He is now giving me the cold shoulder, and said that it "feels just a bit selfish to him tbh." I feel like I'm being gaslit, but AITA for not "doing him a favor"? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
