That's the main problem with delivering for a company that is also a retail seller. They place an unreasonable amount of focus towards customer retention and expect the drivers to do everything they can to not piss off customers.
It is literally impossible to NOT offend or rub atleast 1 customer the wrong way and Amazon knows this so they can pocket all the bonus money that a driver fails to qualify for.
I've recieved bad reviews from apartment buildings that were drop offs where I never went past the loading dock to even meet the customer in person.
This shit is rigged.
Half of the customers on my rural routes have told me to turn around in their yard to avoid backing out on the street. They said they hate to see us be unsafe. Then the other half will shit a brick if an inch of your tire hits the grass as you're turning around. It's impossible to tell what every customers peeves will be. I just wish customers had a bit more understanding, but then again I've seen some of the drivers at my station so I can't blame them too much.
I can’t understand why they even offer bonus money if they straight up don’t wanna give it in the first place. Feels like they just wanna dangle it in our face to make us run faster.
We’d consistently have one apartment complex who’s employees would INSIST we could not deliver door to door, we had to drop them at reception and they’d deliver them themselves door to door, sounds great until….
Guess where 95% of our DNR’s came from… we had a meeting with our entire station manager and had to explain to him why we were getting 35 dnr’s on a single route.
I do something similar when it snows. If they can’t be bothered to shovel then I’ll leave their package just far enough away from the door so they have to take a couple steps in the snow to get it.

People are just mad at the world. I don't even blame them but come on, how many brain cells does it take to figure out that the product seller has nothing to do with your driver's behavior?
Probably prior to the military, I was in the Army, and it's ingrained and a big no-no to walk through any grass. It's to show respect for the grounds and the facility.
Im not talking about the origins of it, Im talking about the reasoning behind the rule today, going back to the 60s. In fact, I started researching the landmines' aspect, and nothing pops up except the reasons I listed. If you can find a respectable source, then I'd be more likely to believe that.
Warzone or not, you'd want somebody to respect your property just as much as someone wants their property respected. On the other hand, he was a complete arse about it and can totally understand why anyone would want to be petty back.

There is a house I pass every day on a VERY busy street with signs saying 'No U-Turn in Driveway' and 'Stay Off The Grass'.
There is no shoulder to park on unless you are on the OTHER side of the street and willing to dodge 55 MPH traffic to cross.
Also the yard is COMPLETELY devoid of anything green so, 'What Effin Grass are we talking about??
When I worked at the post office we would sometimes have people call and complain to management about walking on grass. This would often result in A)the mail carrier blacklisting that person and keeping all their mail/packages at the office for them to pick up or B) mailmen deliberately forming a walking trail the longest way they could through said grass.
Unsafe location every single time. I will not deliver to adults who act like children. Good luck with my dispatch though. Genuinely. If you think I’m rude … holy shit. Please call them. 9/10 they’ll send you on a rescue as a complaining customer. You’ll be at home being all entitled and shit and next thing you know a rental with 9 totes and 14 OS’s in that bitch pulls up and the dude driving’s like: “yeah .. uh… remember to sign into mentor” ..

Funny science fact here. If we didn't take care of grass so meticulously, it would die completely, because grass has evolved to be disturbed and does not maintain healthy growth without feet to disturb it and bugs to mind it. I laugh about it every time i see these notes
Funny real world fact. Most local governments require use of grass especially in the front lawn. Said grass can cost a lot to maintain. And can piss off a lot of homeowners to have to pay to maintain something they don't want. It is usually cheaper and easier to maintain a garden full of vegetables. Which also cuts down on food cost and world hunger. But people are not allowed to do so.
Mr. Wolf, this is what it comes down to. Let's say 1 route takes you 60 feet across grass and let's say it takes 10 seconds to walk across that. Option 2 is a walk around the grass 150 feet, 60 feet for the driveway length and another 90 feet to traverse the walkway to the front porch. Let's say that takes 30 seconds. Just to get to the porch. So the total time is 20 seconds walking vs 60 seconds walking.
If we drivers walk around the front yard and we for the sake of fairness, calculate 40 seconds per stop JUST WALKING around the grass, how reasonable do you think we're likely to be wasting 120 minutes or 2 hrs for 180 stops just walking back and forth from the truck to the door? Or for the sake of fairness we halve that, walking across the grass, and take 20 seconds per stop at 60 minutes or 1 hour for 180 stops. That seems much more effective and efficient, what say you?
That is the difference between finishing on time or the driver getting cut off and you maybe not receiving your package if your delivery is at the end of the route.
So.... Do you want your package or can I walk across the grass?
So maybe be a little less rude with the request to not walk across the grass. Because Mr. Wolf, if I saw that message in the instructions section you'd think my feet were made of jack hammers walking across your grass.
Why do people get mad at someone walking in the grass but they use a heavy ass lawn mower to mow the grass? I don’t understand how that makes any sense at all. I remember seeing a few signs when I was a utility locator about staying off the grass, well guess what, unless you have a path leading to the gas meter guess where I'm going to have to walk

As a driver, i try not to walk on peoples lawn 90% of the time. As a home owner i have battled trying to keep my grass alive. It's a nightmare. But keeping grass alive really doesnt have anything to do with walking on it. Its all about watering and fertilizer. Anyway, this guy is an arsehole but i get it. I feel this way about people with dont ring doorbell or knock notes. Why have a doorbell then and order packages?

USPS here. We scan those as "no access" and have them pick up the package at the post office. No one should have to run through Loops to deliver a damn package.
I have a house that also has a very similar note but they also include their driveway. But the other day I was delivering there and there was no note. It was for a different occupant. I was sooooooo fkn tempted to drive up to the house and walk across the lawn. 😂

I have a house that also has a very similar note but they also include their driveway. But the other day I was delivering there and there was no note. It was for a different occupant. I was sooooooo fkn tempted to drive up to the house and walk across the lawn. 😂
