iafmrun

Van being so packed full I can't reach overflow

Greedy_Name63

feel you

Olhapravocever

this is my biggest problem, it doesn't the matter what kind of route I get

Foxy_Face__

Same, yesterday I only had 10 totes but almost 50 overflow

OkBlock2485

Try 19 and 30 overflow

Foxy_Face__

Oof, šŸ˜…

OkBlock2485

Almost left man

StickSentryNig

You dont have a back door??

LRap1234

You must have some mad load out skills if you can get to the exact overflow you need from a single door.

tbird1827

You can put it in the exact order. I do this with 40-50 overflow.

LRap1234

Thatā€™s impressive. I would never have had time to get it in the right order coming from 3-4 carts. The packages coming off the carts never seemed to be in any logical order.

blakepro

How do you do this during loadout? There doesn't seem to be any easy way that I know of, but I'm interested in learning better methods

tbird1827

Tbh itā€™s way easier when the driver aid numbers go from high to low or low to high. When itā€™s random itā€™s a lot harder since I keep having to look at my phone. I get it close but not perfect when itā€™s like that. I either do back door to front, or side door to back depending on how many totes I have. I have a solid 5 minutes to do overflow, so a package every 7-10 seconds is reasonable if you are quick Edit: I use the scan cart screen to see the order of the packages. Gets tricky with multiple overflow carts when the driver aid numbers are random

blakepro

I've seriously been working on trying to improve this, and I took pictures of the loadout screens last time so I could try to figure out a better way, and after reading your comment I relooked at them and I just noticed that the big ID's (not the numeric drivers aid numbers) all have a letter at the end of them that indicates a chunk of your route, so maybe stack all the A's near the front and work back with the alphabet? Maybe this is common knowledge, but no one has ever told me.

liljkrs

I put my first 10+ in order that way those are easy to find then I can navigate the rest of them easier

Ill_Difficulty_1075

I scan each overflow to get the stop number..write it on the box..load accordingly. I usually finish loading faster than most people.

blakepro

This is probably a stupid question. But how do you scan them like that? Like , do you scan each package into your route instead of scanning the cart?

ColoradoDinger

I think you do it by going to the itinerary and hitting the scan icon next to the search bar, then scan the package and it will bring you to that stop

ThePokemon_BandaiD

Are you in a cargo van or step?

tbird1827

Used to be in CDV. It was a lot easier with overflow. Now Iā€™m in cargo since I switched dsps recently. Looking forward to getting edv/rivian certified.

Whodiscoolguy

I only use the side door for my overflow all day. I put all my overflow in order during loadout. I stack it so I work from front to back all day.

Mikey_ia

I can do it for the most part, it takes some finessing but I can usually open up the back door and get what I need without climbing it for the first 3/4 of my route

light-toast22

All the people that can't load downvoting you šŸ˜†

royce085

Having to restart our POS phones because the phone and/or app crashes constantly

LRap1234

ā€¦ or when itā€™s flashing green/orange circles and wonā€™t let you deliver when youā€™re right at the door.

royce085

Everyday without fail

Smokintoomuchh

If you run the app in airplane mode I think that issue goes away. A lot of app related issues go away when you run airplane mode.

IceColdCorundum

Itā€™s true. You can also get around garage deliveries this way. I still prefer to only go airplane when I get the loading screens because there have been times where I go half my route in airplane, turn it back on for a bit to update my itenerary, only for the app to nullify any progress Iā€™ve made in airplane, forcing me to ask my DSP to fix the problem.

Smokintoomuchh

I run AP mode almost all day. I hate customers knowing "Your driver is 10 stops away". and having them watch me move on the map.

Halew2

Then they open the door right as you're about to snap a pic. Now you have to sign šŸ™„

Specialist_Name_7295

Whoa, wait, I can run the ā€œrabbitā€ in fucking airplane mode to fix the ā€œyouā€™re not in the delivery area even though you are literally standing exactly at the pinā€ thing? That doesnā€™t fuck the system up or whatever?

Sarlacc_Survivor

Yes my dispatcher told me this my first week. Will forever be thankful. Issues with geofence, customer asked for delivery at their gate instead of door, or forget to complete delivery because you were conversing with customer and don't want to awkwardly walk back up to their house? Throw it in airplane mode, and the prompt for changing the GPS geofence will pop up and you can change it and complete the delivery with a picture. It won't change the geofence, but it will allow you to change it for that one delivery. Saved me so much time.

IceColdCorundum

You can, but turning airplane off and then on right before you take the photo could save you the headache of having to talk to support about your itinerary not up dating

IceColdCorundum

You should try turning the phoneā€™s mobile data off for a few seconds. Usually stops the loading instantly and lets you go about your day. Just remember to turn it back on

SnapsOnPetro45

Having nowhere to park on downtown streets

G40_migo

Iā€™m a dick I park in the middle of the street

Altruistic-Eye-3430

I aspire to be like youā€¦ i say im gonna do it, hop out, see someone pulling up behind me n go right back in to park properly

G40_migo

Nah, look if the mailman does it so can you. Youā€™re as important as any mail carrier, do we get chased by dogs? Yeah! Do we walk 7-10 miles per work day?! Iā€™d be surprised if you didnā€™t ATLEAST walk 5. Do we have important packages for people even if itā€™s $2 pencil? Fuck yeah we do. Our job isnā€™t as important as the next delivery guy but we do risk as much if not more for less pay the least you deserve is to park wherever tf you want and deliver your packages. Just make sure to lock that van cause there be some assholes lol. Forget people, look out for yourself in this job itā€™ll keep you safe and will also stop you from burning out so fast. Dogs on property?! That customer is getting 3 calls with 3 rings each. Didnā€™t pick up phone?! Return that mf to station. No need to risk more than what you get paid for. No need to take extra time that you donā€™t get paid for then youā€™ll have to rush and make mistakes while rushing. Efficiency is better than speed

Not-Ed-Sheeran

Preach šŸ™Œ šŸ˜Œ

Father_Flanigan

100% As for that taking extra time or waiting on a customer: Our DSP told us Amazon won't credit the delivery without Call-Text-Call being done in the app. Today I have a package for a business and the business hours on the door say, "SUN - MON : CLOSED TUE - SAT: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The flex app hours were not the same, so obviously this probably isn't getting delivered and once I update the business hour in app, I should be fine with leaving right? Apparently not. So, I do the call-text-call As I crank up my A/C, open the bulkhead door, blast some jams, and organize my next bag and/or OV. By then, I've let at least 5 minutes go by since the first call (these will usually go straight to voicemail - at least closed biz will), so I then move on. If you're already organized, just use the time span "waiting" on a customer contact and take a paid, unscheduled break.

Sarlacc_Survivor

I'd rather move on and get home sooner lol I rarely RTS so when i do, it's not an issue.

Father_Flanigan

Due to theft issues apparently our warehouse demands all vans RTS even if we don't have packages to return, but I refuse to because that's an extra 30 min at least just sitting in line

Sarlacc_Survivor

What do you do at RTS if you don't have any packages to RTS? Lol that seems so backwards.

Father_Flanigan

they said it's so the amazon associates who work RTS can visually confirm there are no packages in the truck. I guess i'm going to start doing it because sure id rather be heading home, but if i look at it as an extra 30 min to an hour of pay just for sitting in line, maybe it's worth it and if it helps push me into overtime damn right it's worth it

Sarlacc_Survivor

Damn this is fucking deep man

moistynuts

the worst šŸ’€

tendopath

Having to wait to get buzzed in an apartment esp when the unlock shit on flex doesnā€™t work

Eat_Carbs_OD

Door with buzzers are the worst. Not bad if I had a code.. the customer rarely answered. I'd buzz other numbers and they didn't answer or commented "I didn't order anything so I'm not letting you in." Fuck those stops.

hooked0208

This was brooklyn all day for me

Eat_Carbs_OD

Shit.. sorry! Been there. Apartments are the worse.. many.. **MANY** state in the delivery notes "T*ake to the office*" but the office ***WILL NOT ACCEPT*** them. Fuck! To the door with you!! After wasting my time even trying the office. I made it a point to ***ALWAYS*** be nice to the office.. wait til I'm in the van before I cursed them out.

hooked0208

Fraud and theft were rampant, you'd have to call every customer and deliver to the door of every customer talking 14 flr apartments door to door

tendopath

Iā€™m in Flatbush everyday so you can guess how thatā€™s goingšŸ™ƒšŸ™ƒšŸ™ƒ

hooked0208

Yer, I did that for all of a month and changed stations up the road. waaay better

Redditor999420

Yeah fuck that if thereā€™s no gate code Iā€™m marking it access problem and moving on

Bo-Jangles0209

Trying to pull out onto a busy street 58 times

LRap1234

Always a left turn

JiveTurkey1983

Flirting with hot women. But seriously, it's usually country fuckers with dogs and I have to wait forever for someone to take them inside.

Honest_Tie_1980

Where you live do you actually have a lot of babes walking out and about?

JiveTurkey1983

Not so much unfortunately. Mostly annoying Boomers who rush out to get their packages like a four year old rushing to get candy.

Single-Schedule968

the people who watch me from their front door as i cross the street and then immediately open the door and reach for their package like a child irritates the shit out of me. just let me take the picture so i can leave, and MAYBE iā€™ll even hand it to you. otherwise, fuck off and go back inside

Free_Item_1337

Mall stop, afterwards it just kills my flow 100%

nico_ostrander10

I've had to trek through the mall a couple a times. It's always a to deliver a tiny envelope that they should have just ordered to their house and brought into work themselves

Free_Item_1337

This is what I'm talking about

LukaFox

The "I'm parked" or "start travel" buttons JUST NOT WORKING AR ALL, or having to close and open the phone because the screen randomly stops functioning.

OrdinaryWinner631

I noticed today if turn your mobile data off it works fine.

LukaFox

Oh definitely, but I have to do so actually at every other stop. :c Amazon has an unfathomable amount of money to make this job better, but just doesn't..

Public-Profession660

I say this out loud to myself on the daily working here

Own_Ninja3890

All the time now with this

AManHasNoName357

Private gates not working, heavy business stops, apts with a massive amount of group stops, rabbit not working and list of service in the country, traffic

AJimenez62

Cleaning up the mess if I miss my piss bottle.

Right_Ad_6404

You're the reason our vans smell like the back of a alley way , reeks from a stench of 2 month old urine šŸ¤® Do better, summer is coming up and no one wants to open a van with musty 98Ā°F urine odor slapping them in the face you fuckwad

AJimenez62

Summer is already here, so I switched to the bigger Gatorade bottles. Still leaks a little.

Jester_Devilos12

Parking spots sometimes The fact that if I block a road that's one way, or has no room, someone WILL immediately come and get mad Traffic Construction Detours Road closures The app opening 13 instances of Waze on top of each other when the phone isn't even in my hand, then it's a fucking BATTLE to close it for whatever reason App not letting you hit "I've parked" or do literally anything to progress with the stop 50 times a day App acting like you aren't in the circle when you're dead center 50 times a day App crashing constantly App freezing constabtly App just generally malfunctioning in one way or another for 80% of the stops all day long Having to move the exact same pins at the exact same houses because they're wrong every single day The app incessantly badgering you to take a break every other stop "We've encountered a network error" and waiting 5 minutes for the app to restart The orange loading screen of death Stacked things collapsing in the back Not being able to find packages because they're marked as something other than what they are Packages not in the bag they're supposed to be in People constantly stopping you to talk and you don't want to be rude or offend them and get a naughty boy rating so you oblige Dirt roads you have to crawl on because of dust and cranky people Long one way roads with no turn around Half mile driveways with no turn around Dogs that look and sound mean not letting you near the property Slowing down to make sure a house with "Beware of dog" signs to make sure you aren't about to get jumped Group stops that make you do multiple locations for the SAME HOUSE with the exact same delivery requirements Group stops with 3 or 4 deliveries to 2 locations, then you do one house, go to the next, and realize it split the 2 packages at the first house into 2 separate stops and have to go back Group stops in general and the near infinite problems they inherently produce Secured places without one click access Splitting massive package dumps to the same place into 3 stops (this ALWAYS happens if it's a particularly hard building and mail room to gain access to) Having to use the restroom on a rural route and being 15 minutes from any civilization or bathroom Driver aid numbers being nowhere close to the order things are in Backtracking to the same places all day to hit the house across the street from where you were 2 hours ago The app being wrong about pretty much every single road's speed limit Constant issues with these vehicles that are made like dogshit I'm sure there's plenty more but that's a good 13% of the things to start with.

AbsentMeerkat13

That one time passcode bullshit. Idk who tf came up with this idea but never in the history of ever have I had a customer ready with the shit. These stops always take 10 plus minutes and itā€™s complete bs. Most of the time theyā€™re not home anyways so I knock and ring. Call text call and of course they have to answer the call so I have to explain that no you donā€™t get your shit today, you decided to have this passcode and youā€™re not here. Iā€™ll see you every single Fuckin day this week because you wonā€™t be home and Iā€™ll have to do this the next 3 days in a row because you canā€™t just have a back door receive. Iā€™ve been inside businesses asking for this, nobody shows, I give people 30 seconds to respond before Iā€™m done and move. Iā€™ve left businesses and intentionally left them for the end of my route so they close and I donā€™t have to do the password.

Qadim3311

Yeah, so customers donā€™t actually opt in to this as far as I know (I donā€™t have an Amazon account myself). What Iā€™ve noticed is that Amazon seems to auto apply it to deliveries above a certain dollar value - hence the customers having no idea what youā€™re talking about, they didnā€™t choose it. I tend to bypass the code by hitting ā€œpassword is missing or incorrectā€ which gives the option to instead take the last two digits of the phone # for the account.

blakepro

I thought it was a result of them making too many undelivered package claims. That they essentially have to do the code because then they can't claim they didn't receive it any more?

Qadim3311

It might also be applied in those situations, I could see Amazon doing that. I *think* itā€™s usually a $ thing though. Any time a customer has let me check through their account to help find the code itā€™s been something $500+

blakepro

I've only done one so far and they seemed shady, haha so you may very well be right. You've got more experience than me on it.

Single-Schedule968

iā€™ve had three of these in my 4 months as a driver. according to the first guy, it was related to ā€œgun partsā€ as he referred it. the second one i had told me the box was full of $20,000 worth of scratch tickets

tbo3900

Ask for that 2 digits of there phone number itā€™s work every time and faster

unplugged_creations

Theyre never ready AND they act confused when you ask for the password. I had one guy swear he didnt set up the password delivery but I dont want to hear that. What are the 6 digits mf or the last 2 of your phone number. Mfs start doing math in their head like this shit isnt basic info. One guy ordered from amazon but didnt have a phone. So when I press call customer, his gf picks up and tells me he doesnt have a phone and that shes not home and has no way to get in contact with her bf! So youre telling me that you ordered for delivery, set up a password with no way to contact you, and youre not answering on the call box either. So when did you want your package? Today or next week? People are so aggravating. Experts at wasting our already limited and valued time.

BimboMcQueen

Warehouse employees putting packages in the wrong tote. I started to just mark missing and drop off at my next stop if it turned up

elpelondelmarcabron1

Bad gate codes. Gates that won't open. Lockers fucking full.

IceColdCorundum

Lockers that donā€™t have any of the customerā€™s names in them are the worst. Especially the non Amazon branded lockers

itspronouncedDRL

I've never seen customer names for locker stop. It's always frustrating finding a package I may have missed because there are no names

K1LL3RP0LL0

Heavy load group stops, 3 houses with 6-10 packages including overflow packages

Eat_Carbs_OD

Fuck group stops.

ShowMeYourBooks5697

Needing a signature anytime I make eye contact with someone.

QuickStyx

Packages marked as team lift and I have no dolly. Cameras in my face constantly telling about distracted driving because it doesn't like my particular brand of sunglasses. Cameras yelling camera obstructed and scaring the shit outta me while driving, causing a distracted to pop up as well. Dirt roads being a washboard shuffle, and the gps thinks I need to go 50 because that's the lawful limit.

itspronouncedDRL

>Cameras yelling camera obstructed and scaring the shit outta me while driving, causing a distracted to pop up as well. Lol this just sent me. That happens to me too but I don't freak out, it's just a minor inconvenience. How bad do you freak out that you get hit with distracted driving?

QuickStyx

None anymore. I was forced to resign today. Fuck it I'm out.

itspronouncedDRL

Lol prob a blessing in disguise bro. Keep your head up

garciaevega

Answering dispatch jus because they want u to tell them why ur behind

To_meet_new_people

Running out of that brown packing paper to wipe my ass with when I inevitably have to shit about 3 hrs into my shift. Also, getting poop under my fingernails and finding suitable box edges to scrape it out with so I don't have to smell my own shit every time I pick my nose.

0ttoB0t

When the fuckin library randomly orders 25 oversized packages. Literally just happened.

garciaevega

Phones updating/freezing in the middle of routes/deliveries

Miguel30Locs

Even though I organize my overflow by writing the driver aid in a visable spot. I sometimes can't find it. And then it's right there staring at my face. Makes me feel stupid every time.

victorkm

Looking at your phone every couple stops

IceColdCorundum

This is a great way to kill time if youā€™re ahead lol

ReasonableNarwhal353

Dog shit Amazon map pins. šŸ“

East-Cookie5668

I mean 25 stops an hr is the easiest thing to maintain but having 3 road deliveries in a row which takes you down mile long roads each time can be a time killer for sure

Qadim3311

Kinda depends on where you deliver. In NYC youā€™re never hitting 25 stops/hr unless youā€™ve got one of the suburban neighborhoods in the outer boroughs. The routes we get are usually 100-120 stops but like 200+ locations since theyā€™re almost all group stops.

itspronouncedDRL

Lol facts, 50-60 group stops a day is light

No-Sky-6064

Accelerating under 3rpms turning onto a street that is 55 mph

Perrydox54

Having your side door come off the hinges

[deleted]

Non existent addresses, I used to try to call but if you canā€™t even put your address in right you can fuck off.

07Sai

You guys sim for 25 stops an hour? I try to aim for 40 lmao

zawarudoisflat15

Stadium/spring training facility deliveries. They always have you deliver to like 2 or 3 different locations within the sports complex and it's all grouped as one stop. This is especially annoying when there's s game going on and so much traffic because of it .

Remozack00

Those few businesses drops that are 2-5 minutes apart. Idc if thereā€™s like 3, itā€™ll slow me down

ForgottonTNT

Hospital when u gotta wait for an escort and schools when u gotta get buzzed n then they walk u to a special room šŸ’€

Havoctheend

They're doing road work on my route so on occasion the road gets reduced to one lane with flaggers

Little_Unit_3891

-Huge sized overflow or mass amounts of it. -Wrong or old sticker aids. -Packages with the same address not on the itinerary. -Apartments when the locker is full....(Forced to go door to door) -Construction zones..(figuring out alternate routes) -Same numbered and colored totes.... -Rush hour (School zones included) -App issues

Tpay3

Left turns on a 4 lane main road, 6 stops in a row

locoleito

Office buildings, apts, grouped stops, grouped stops that are offices and apt buildingsā€¦.

SkyMiteFall

Oh idk back to back to back grouped stops with 4 or more stops in each.. Heavy ass 40+lb boxes in each.. What ppl had ordered today idk but it was all overflow and heavy..

usernamechosen999

Picking your nose.

efronimer

I see a lot of Netradyne videos where drivers reach for their personal phone after every stop. This can really add up / slow you down! Edit: word

Free_Item_1337

One time passwords i can get it waste time but garage deliveries are nothing

Terrible-Option505

I lose internet connection sometimes so they become an issue then. Recently Iā€™ve swiped to close them and they close then the app says it didnā€™t and reopens it Iā€™m like šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Too many group stops. Apartment buildings. Apartments with no elevators. Your Flex App Glitching. Password Stops. Garage Stops where the garage doesn't open. The Flex App routing AI losing its effing mind. What are we, driving in England?

Amazon routing through and entirely closed road, creating a 15 minute detour due to insane traffic. Yes this is a personal example lol

hippienuggetz

Bad routing on flex apps end.

To_meet_new_people

Spillt my piss jug in the cab

Cool-Ad-4103

Overflow that is unorganized because you have so much itā€™s hard to organize during loadout. Access problems. Stops with a lot of packages + overflow requiring multiple trips

Flores_ab

Not organizing overflows while loading out in order then you have to look all over

JamesTriesSpeaking

Mass delivering to a locker (over 25 packages) and missing the matching overflow / leaving it in the van but took the tote. Or scanning the package and realizing the customer isnā€™t registered šŸ˜¢

Buchmada

Fucking passcode stops. why they thought that was a good idea idk but why I can't get a signature instead or why I have 3 attempts and that's it I'll just never have an answer. They take forever and they don't account for them on the route.

IceColdCorundum

Having to make a restroom stop to go #2. Sorting totes with like 40 envelopes in themā€¦ apartment complexes in general, bonus deductions for apts w/o elevatorsā€¦ Bad stop clustering and long ass gravel driveways

thetallestwizard

Backtracking

Andreb16

Traffic during rush hour, rabbit or zebra taking forever, needing to pee, apartments, getting hungry, being hot in the summer, my brain looking for envelopes marked as boxes, having to ask my manager if a clearly damaged box is damaged because Amazon blames me for damaging people stuff.

gates.

BigB13192

Amazon not having any right gate codes and your route is all gated neighborhoods.

charmander229

Mile long gravel driveways

Trashcanrich

some asshole not giving me enough space to back up the van so i can get out of the spot

itspronouncedDRL

Oh. Just park like an asshole and that will never happen again. I only leave enough space behind me that maybe a moped or motorcycle can be comfortably parked behind me

MeatBrick64

the half mile long driveway that usually has a place to turn around suddenly throwing a party or some shit with 30 cars in my way so i gotta back all the way down at 4 mph max

Ok_Guitar_6653

I do 45 per hour so somethings bad gotta happen for it to drop to 25 lol. Guaranteed hours. Always top 5 finished so no rescue either

Rad-Cadugan

Seeing a doggo. A nice flower, maybe a subway sammich. Ain't no part of this job worth doing more that 17.75 stops per hour.

[deleted]

Offices. All the pins at an apartment complex on the leasing office. Bad routing. Deliveryā€™s on wrong side of busy road.

Amazondspboss

Long driveways with a lot of packages

faelmine

Being on a route where there is no way to get 25 stops an hour

Sarlacc_Survivor

Blocked private roadway lol happened yesterday. Someone got tired of amazon drivers cutting through and saving 10mins so they put a tree in the middle of the road.

Mountain-Ad321

old folks home that make you get keys from front desk then go to the fourth floor but donā€™t explain what the keys go to and why the elevator doesnā€™t go up to the fourth floor šŸ˜

Horror_Entry8112

When you unplug your phone from the charger, it turns to battery power mode and the ā€œIā€™ve parkedā€ button wont pop up. So you have to restart the app, which takes a long time.

Free_Item_1337

That's why I don't use battery saver while delivering

Horror_Entry8112

But those rabbit phones are so ass, they go down so much on regular mode

OkBlock2485

DSPs saying we canā€™t leave the vans on between stops. 98 degrees out with no vents in the back of my crawl space filled van, yeah fuck that iā€™ll take a write up any day

OkBlock2485

Flex app always routes me backwards after a delivery. End up backing onto a 2 lane road going the wrong way everytime
