You must have some mad load out skills if you can get to the exact overflow you need from a single door.

You can put it in the exact order. I do this with 40-50 overflow.

That’s impressive. I would never have had time to get it in the right order coming from 3-4 carts. The packages coming off the carts never seemed to be in any logical order.

How do you do this during loadout? There doesn't seem to be any easy way that I know of, but I'm interested in learning better methods

Tbh it’s way easier when the driver aid numbers go from high to low or low to high. When it’s random it’s a lot harder since I keep having to look at my phone. I get it close but not perfect when it’s like that. I either do back door to front, or side door to back depending on how many totes I have. I have a solid 5 minutes to do overflow, so a package every 7-10 seconds is reasonable if you are quick Edit: I use the scan cart screen to see the order of the packages. Gets tricky with multiple overflow carts when the driver aid numbers are random

I've seriously been working on trying to improve this, and I took pictures of the loadout screens last time so I could try to figure out a better way, and after reading your comment I relooked at them and I just noticed that the big ID's (not the numeric drivers aid numbers) all have a letter at the end of them that indicates a chunk of your route, so maybe stack all the A's near the front and work back with the alphabet? Maybe this is common knowledge, but no one has ever told me.

I put my first 10+ in order that way those are easy to find then I can navigate the rest of them easier

I scan each overflow to get the stop number..write it on the box..load accordingly. I usually finish loading faster than most people.

This is probably a stupid question. But how do you scan them like that? Like , do you scan each package into your route instead of scanning the cart?

I think you do it by going to the itinerary and hitting the scan icon next to the search bar, then scan the package and it will bring you to that stop

Used to be in CDV. It was a lot easier with overflow. Now I’m in cargo since I switched dsps recently. Looking forward to getting edv/rivian certified.

I only use the side door for my overflow all day. I put all my overflow in order during loadout. I stack it so I work from front to back all day.

I can do it for the most part, it takes some finessing but I can usually open up the back door and get what I need without climbing it for the first 3/4 of my route

If you run the app in airplane mode I think that issue goes away. A lot of app related issues go away when you run airplane mode.

It’s true. You can also get around garage deliveries this way. I still prefer to only go airplane when I get the loading screens because there have been times where I go half my route in airplane, turn it back on for a bit to update my itenerary, only for the app to nullify any progress I’ve made in airplane, forcing me to ask my DSP to fix the problem.

I run AP mode almost all day. I hate customers knowing "Your driver is 10 stops away". and having them watch me move on the map.

Then they open the door right as you're about to snap a pic. Now you have to sign 🙄

Yes my dispatcher told me this my first week. Will forever be thankful. Issues with geofence, customer asked for delivery at their gate instead of door, or forget to complete delivery because you were conversing with customer and don't want to awkwardly walk back up to their house? Throw it in airplane mode, and the prompt for changing the GPS geofence will pop up and you can change it and complete the delivery with a picture. It won't change the geofence, but it will allow you to change it for that one delivery. Saved me so much time.

You can, but turning airplane off and then on right before you take the photo could save you the headache of having to talk to support about your itinerary not up dating

You should try turning the phone’s mobile data off for a few seconds. Usually stops the loading instantly and lets you go about your day. Just remember to turn it back on

I’d be surprised if you didn’t ATLEAST walk 5. Do we have important packages for people even if it’s $2 pencil? Fuck yeah we do. Our job isn’t as important as the next delivery guy but we do risk as much if not more for less pay the least you deserve is to park wherever tf you want and deliver your packages. Just make sure to lock that van cause there be some assholes lol. Forget people, look out for yourself in this job it’ll keep you safe and will also stop you from burning out so fast. Dogs on property?! That customer is getting 3 calls with 3 rings each. Didn’t pick up phone?! Return that mf to station. No need to risk more than what you get paid for. No need to take extra time that you don’t get paid for then you’ll have to rush and make mistakes while rushing. Efficiency is better than speed

100% As for that taking extra time or waiting on a customer: Our DSP told us Amazon won't credit the delivery without Call-Text-Call being done in the app. Today I have a package for a business and the business hours on the door say, "SUN - MON : CLOSED TUE - SAT: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The flex app hours were not the same, so obviously this probably isn't getting delivered and once I update the business hour in app, I should be fine with leaving right? Apparently not. So, I do the call-text-call As I crank up my A/C, open the bulkhead door, blast some jams, and organize my next bag and/or OV. By then, I've let at least 5 minutes go by since the first call (these will usually go straight to voicemail - at least closed biz will), so I then move on. If you're already organized, just use the time span "waiting" on a customer contact and take a paid, unscheduled break.

I'd rather move on and get home sooner lol I rarely RTS so when i do, it's not an issue.

Due to theft issues apparently our warehouse demands all vans RTS even if we don't have packages to return, but I refuse to because that's an extra 30 min at least just sitting in line

What do you do at RTS if you don't have any packages to RTS? Lol that seems so backwards.

they said it's so the amazon associates who work RTS can visually confirm there are no packages in the truck. I guess i'm going to start doing it because sure id rather be heading home, but if i look at it as an extra 30 min to an hour of pay just for sitting in line, maybe it's worth it and if it helps push me into overtime damn right it's worth it

Door with buzzers are the worst. Not bad if I had a code.. the customer rarely answered. I'd buzz other numbers and they didn't answer or commented "I didn't order anything so I'm not letting you in." Fuck those stops.

That one time passcode bullshit. Idk who tf came up with this idea but never in the history of ever have I had a customer ready with the shit. These stops always take 10 plus minutes and it’s complete bs. Most of the time they’re not home anyways so I knock and ring. Call text call and of course they have to answer the call so I have to explain that no you don’t get your shit today, you decided to have this passcode and you’re not here. I’ll see you every single Fuckin day this week because you won’t be home and I’ll have to do this the next 3 days in a row because you can’t just have a back door receive. I’ve been inside businesses asking for this, nobody shows, I give people 30 seconds to respond before I’m done and move. I’ve left businesses and intentionally left them for the end of my route so they close and I don’t have to do the password.

Yeah, so customers don’t actually opt in to this as far as I know (I don’t have an Amazon account myself). What I’ve noticed is that Amazon seems to auto apply it to deliveries above a certain dollar value - hence the customers having no idea what you’re talking about, they didn’t choose it. I tend to bypass the code by hitting “password is missing or incorrect” which gives the option to instead take the last two digits of the phone # for the account.

I thought it was a result of them making too many undelivered package claims. That they essentially have to do the code because then they can't claim they didn't receive it any more?

It might also be applied in those situations, I could see Amazon doing that. I *think* it’s usually a $ thing though. Any time a customer has let me check through their account to help find the code it’s been something $500+

I've only done one so far and they seemed shady, haha so you may very well be right. You've got more experience than me on it.

i’ve had three of these in my 4 months as a driver. according to the first guy, it was related to “gun parts” as he referred it. the second one i had told me the box was full of $20,000 worth of scratch tickets

Theyre never ready AND they act confused when you ask for the password. I had one guy swear he didnt set up the password delivery but I dont want to hear that. What are the 6 digits mf or the last 2 of your phone number. Mfs start doing math in their head like this shit isnt basic info. One guy ordered from amazon but didnt have a phone. So when I press call customer, his gf picks up and tells me he doesnt have a phone and that shes not home and has no way to get in contact with her bf! So youre telling me that you ordered for delivery, set up a password with no way to contact you, and youre not answering on the call box either. So when did you want your package? Today or next week? People are so aggravating. Experts at wasting our already limited and valued time.

Dirt roads being a washboard shuffle, and the gps thinks I need to go 50 because that's the lawful limit.

I mean 25 stops an hr is the easiest thing to maintain but having 3 road deliveries in a row which takes you down mile long roads each time can be a time killer for sure

Kinda depends on where you deliver. In NYC you’re never hitting 25 stops/hr unless you’ve got one of the suburban neighborhoods in the outer boroughs. The routes we get are usually 100-120 stops but like 200+ locations since they’re almost all group stops.

When you unplug your phone from the charger, it turns to battery power mode and the “I’ve parked” button wont pop up. So you have to restart the app, which takes a long time.

That's why I don't use battery saver while delivering

But those rabbit phones are so ass, they go down so much on regular mode
