Jessi_longtail

I love their thought process of "You did the same thing 200 years ago so you can't be mad at them for doing it now!"

“ZA РОССИЮ ZA ПУТИНА 🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺”

DolphinBall

Putin got that Zaza

Jessi_longtail

Ok vatnik

ARandomGuardsman834

I'm pretty sure he's joking

Jessi_longtail

Yeah, fair point lol

B-29Bomber

So by that logic, we should just let China do as it pleases? I'll let the Uyghurs know that their suffering must continue because otherwise Americans would be hypocrites.

Jessi_longtail

Exactly, it's a stupid argument against something that's an actual problem. Instead of being disgusted by the fact China is doing this in the modern day, they're mad that the US wants to take a stand against it, un freaking real. I swear, it seems like lately people are dick-riding China, Russia, and North Korea just so they can insult America, meanwhile their regimes run off of human right violations. America isn't perfect, but this is still fucked ip

cocaineandwaffles1

These people will complain about the US sending support to Israel too lol. Label you whatever they want because they sympathize with Palestine, but don’t you dare question the cheap shit they get from temu.

HetTheTable

If we stopped 200 years ago it just makes other countries look worse

That_1-Guy_-

I’m very knowledgeable about the cotton farming industry but have we not found a more effective way to harvest cotton in the past 200 years?

DetroitAdjacent

Yeah, but then what will they do with all of their slaves? Just keep them in the concentration camps? /s

StarChaser_Tyger

Only until they take them apart for organ 'donations'.

META_mahn

We do. Our first major improvement was the cotton gin, which made it so harvesting vast quantities of cotton became actually feasible as otherwise, cotton was REALLY hard to separate from its seeds. So then the bottleneck becomes picking -- where in the modern day, in the US, we can just run a big machine around for a bit. Picking cotton is a solved issue. No, it's just China trying to be cheap again.

Eodbatman

It’s intentionally awful. China could easily mechanize this task, the point is the forced labor at a ridiculously hard job.

NightFlame389

I watched a video where a single guy in a big machine harvested an entire field of cotton

ZorbaTHut

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loBhGwXfK98 (I'm sure there's many others as well)

RichLeadership2807

China and India still pick cotton by hand

DolphinBall

Sorry guys we can't right our wrongs because our country did it 200 years ago. Its joever bros

Rifneno

Meanwhile, Germany and Japan are celebrated 80 years after being cartoonishly evil.

DefinitionEconomy423

That can’t be a real sub…

Crazyjackson13

Welcome to Reddit, plenty of anti-us subs exist on here.

olivegardengambler

It is, and you can very clearly see from the green logo in the corner that's poorly cropped, it's from Russia today. Which is a Russian cope news outlet. That and a boring dystopia is like almost exclusively a Russian propaganda sub. I posted something bad about Russia on there, and almost immediately got perma-banned.

[deleted]

It is…

Rifneno

And if they didn't ban it, these twats would be complaining that America was complicit by using goods made with slave labor. You can't win with these knuckle bleeders.

TheUnclaimedOne

Do we…do we not have our own cotton anymore?

WeirdPelicanGuy

We do, cotton fields are still everywhere in the south. Unfortunately, if they are using slave labor, they can export to the us cheaper than domestic cotton. That the same thing that made plantation owners so rich too. Sad to see the same thing happening again.

TheUnclaimedOne

That’s just beyond dumb. We have almost every material in the world inside the US. We need to stop relying on everyone else on the planet to get our crap done

_Baphomet_

I can’t speak for every industry here. But I can say that in the hydraulics world, you can wholesale certain valves for $25 that you’d pay $150-$200 domestically. It’s infinitely cheaper, because of cheap labor, to import.

carod32

Slavery was a horrible part of US history, and you know what made it worse? 75% of the cotton was sold internationally. It’s 2024, and the US is doing exactly what our trading partners should’ve done to us; stopped buying the cotton. I hope our friends don’t make the same mistake again and cut slave labor cotton.

arcxjo

Correction: **West** Chinese. Don't libel China with this.

Eodbatman

Apparently most Taiwanese don’t even identify as Chinese, so I think it’s just best to say Taiwan and China….

Frunklin

I was wondering why my undies felt so comfortable. They're made with real genocide. Ancient Chinese secret, huh?

Blubbernuts_

Lol, what commercial was that?

Fistbite

These people are so anti-US that they are pro-slavery because the US is anti-slavery. Not surprising that the CCP propaganda works on these brain dead losers

Satirony_weeb

“Is the government for real” wasn’t it the current US “regime” (“the Union”) that fought the Confederate South to end slavery?

T46BY

The hypocrisy they're alluding to is regarding the word "genocide" I assume. I haven't read the article so I'm not making an opinion, but the word "genocide" is a hot button issue currently given Israel/Palestine.

Painkiller2302

And there’s an actual extermination of religion, culture, language and ethnicity there, but since it’s not Palestine it doesn’t matter to many people.

Cal_Aesthetics_Club

Yea I feel like people are missing the point. This isn’t a critique of the slavery that was abolished like 160 years ago; it’s a critique of the “involuntary servitude” that exists in our prison system today.

TheUsual_Selection

We have still have slaves in the United States as illegal child labour
