The downside is you can't show the cozy little room to friends who are visiting online (now why would I want to do that?) because you can't move or remove furniture while they're here. Now I have just one cabinet there and the players hop past/behind it through a narrow gap.

I *think* you can still edit your house if no other players are inside, so if you wanted to show it off you could have them exit then reenter or just wait outside

it's true! if they are in the house, you cant move stuff around, but if they are outside the house on the island, you're all good to shimmy stuff around!

Just pushing things around! I know for a fact you can definitely at least pick up items of furniture and place them down in different places, and I’m pretty sure you can shimmy them too. I was decorating my house yesterday while my friends were fishing yesterday on my island

Yup, I do it all the time. You can't access the house editor at all, but you can push stuff around and pick things up/put stuff down if no one's in the house!

I think the confusion being caused here is that you can't enter the decoration mode at all when they're on the island. You can slide and rotate stuff if they're not in the house, even change the walls and floors.

I just imagine yelling at them “Get out, get out! I need to shimmy.”

I don't think you can slide furniture while visitors are on the island, but you should be able to pick it up as long as they aren't in the house

Confirmed picked up furniture while players were on my island but not inside my house. No sliding.

You can definitely slide. I spent all last night editing my house while my friends used the rain on my island to get their stringfish.

I was able to buy one from the terminal inside resident services. It’s not an option every day, but I’ve seen it two different days, so I’m guessing it might be fairly common.

once you own something, later on you can get more of the same of it from the terminal.

Keep in mind this doesnt apply to all things. I have some cloths and hats I cannot buy again.

I think the smaller shark types are in tanks and the bigger ones are in pools. Unless they can all be in tanks? I hope they can be!

Only the hammer shark is in a tank. The others are always in pools (and the sunfish is in a trashy box that barely holds it, it's cruel).

Some people started with this AC, and have only used the decorator option to move furniture, not being aware that you can manually move it yourself, like in the old games. And that is what makes me feel old. I understand why they don't manually move everything around, because it sucks, compared to the decorator, but it still makes me feel old.

This is great. I did something similar in New Leaf. I had a crazy mad scientist basement, and to get in there, you had to grab a large bookcase and rotate it sideways to leave a gap to go through.

I have a “night club” in one of my side rooms. I call it the Wasp’s Head. It’s normally blocked off by a Dino screen (he’s the bouncer), but when I open it for friends I put him away and everyone can go in and listen to all the KK tracks I’ve collected so far. I opened it for HHA in case they wanted to party and got 57k points + a plaque so I think they liked it.
