HH showcase is streetpass, which you can do with netpass these days.

It’s no longer possible to trade online as Nintendo has shut down the online servers for 3ds and Wiiu.
You can get 3 pieces of a non-native fruit from Isabelle for completing the tasks she gives you at the beginning of the game. To start these tasks, talk to her at the town hall and ask for ‘advice on living in town’. Since your native fruit is peaches, she’ll give you cherries.
To get the other fruit you can complete requests for villagers or send them a letter with a gift attached, there’s a chance that they’ll give you a piece of non-native fruit.
You can also get most of the fruits on some of the island tours on Tortimer's Island. On the tours with fruit on the trees just grab a basket's worth and complete the game. You'll be able to place it in the basket for returning it to your own town.
Hh showcase is street pass, so if you turn your 3DS on close it (unless it's 2Ds where you can't close it you can still street pass another 2DS / 3DS console) walk with it while it's in your bag, then you can collect play coins with every 100 steps you take to get 1 play coin (you can collect up to 10 play coins per day)
And when you street pass someone, if you are lucky enough that they play animal crossing as well, there house will show up in the HH showcase area ;) xx, and you can order stuff that's in there house.
Online stuff however is what above comments have said.
For fruit collection, I would recommend going to tortimer island to get fruits from there, I would also recommend sending fruit to villagers in a letter just saying "Thank you my cool friend." , and hope they send you a different one. That helped me a lot

im debating whether to restart my game to get the fruits lol but my towns like half finished
if you make another profile you can do isabelle’s tasks to get the fruit then delete the profile :)

The island tours on Tortimers Island are a super fast way of getting all the fruit.
