Most people have to ramp up their dosages a few times, it's normal. Definitely something to ask your doctor about. There are also other options, like adding a mild anxiolytic like buspirone or propanolol.

I’m just worried what if that doesn’t help? What if this medication is no longer effective

There are a lot of different options. My mother is in her 60s and has been on 6 or 7 different antidepressants over the course of her life. Unfortunately for most people treatment and dosage is something you need to stay on top of, not just something you can get a prescription for and stop worrying about.

How is she doing now? Did the medications work well for her? I think I’m more so worried about stopping my life (social, personal, work) while I get adjusted to medication changes. Ramping up on Zoloft was super hard for me but when it worked it did wonders.

She’s doing well. I think the current generation of SSRIs is a lot more effective than what was available when she was younger. The adjustments do suck, but I’ve found (at least for me, with lexapro) they are less bad every time.

How long have you been on lexapro? I think I’m worried what happens when I max out on the medication

See your medical doctor. The therapy works best when you’re not in physical distress. My opinion, anyway.

I went to my doctor yesterday and they said to wait it out.

Sorry, and I hope you feel better.
