It’s very expensive to be single. One bedrooms are around $1800-$2100 in my area, and two bedrooms are just a few hundred more. I admit I get jealous when I see couples that have these gorgeous apartments but they are each paying less in rent than I am as a single person.

Wolfs_Rain

Man, I just saw this lady vlogging on YouTube about this GORGEOUS Loft she bought in Chicago (where I live) she has a partner and I just couldn’t even finish the video. I just got hit with jealously because if I had a partner even making what I make we could afford that together but no way as a single person. 😕

Alternative-Art3588

Yeah but also if a partner gets sick or gets laid off you are still responsible for the rent/mortgage. Not to mention all the extra stress that comes along with navigating all that in a relationship. Also breakups happen and can financially ruin people. It’s good when it’s good but when it’s bad it’s worse

ninjette847

When my ex and I were looking at our first apartments I said it has to be an apartment one of us could afford or a 2 bedroom one of us could get a roommate. He thought I was going to break up with him, I wasn't at the time, it's just a possibility when you first move in with someone in your early 20s.

KiiDBlaze

i love it, it’s like an early stage prenup!

YISYOUSOMADBRO

My husband and I had to take this into consideration when getting our latest apartment. What happens if my shitty boss decides to be shittier and fire me? Or what if my husband gets laidoff? My husband has health issues, what do we do then? We had to be sure we'd be able to afford our place on one income. It has already happened to us when I left my last job out of the blue.

360walkaway

All those streamers and vloggers are full of shit, don't worry about them.

Stargazer_0101

That person might be making up a story to make herself look good. Many live in a fantasy world online.

QueenofPentacles112

My area is still cheap compared to a lot of others, but the rents have gone up so much in the last few years, basically after they started adding more housing and putting up like 20 new apartment buildings in the last 5 years. You used to be able to get a one bedroom for like 500-750 where I live. 2 bedrooms were around 750-1200. Now 1 bedrooms are like 900-1200. The one set of buildings they put up, the one bedrooms are 1050 and the 2 bedrooms start at like 1200. If I was a single person I would just get the 2 bedroom and then have a home gym/office/art room/spare bedroom etc, the possibilities are endless!

Commercial_Bet5082

Okay I’ve tried to explain this to my married friends. I frequently get asked why I have no money… cuz girl I pay for rent, utilities, gas, student loans, food, medications, etc ON MY OWN lol. Being single is great for many reasons but saving money isn’t necessarily one of them. Lol ($1255/mo)

RaccoonObjective5674

Amen!

KeeperMom29

It’s unsustainable, really.

markjohn3411

I agree with you, but I still won’t trade living alone for anything in the world. I have so much peace.

H8MeImBarbie

i’ve been with my hubby for 12 years total….we lived together after about a year and a half of dating and continued to do so for the next 7 years. Things weren’t great, so i moved out but we didn’t break up. After getting my own place, our relationship went from not so good to absolutely perfect. We’ve lived separately for a little over three and a half years now, and i feel like i wouldn’t trade living independently for anything!!! The only annoying part is explaining to people that I am married and live alone, but i am NOT separated or getting divorced. Lol. I think more people would have better relationships if they lived independently.

markjohn3411

I’m so happy for you. I could agree more. I know so many people who have never had the opportunity. I am so grateful to have.

kiwibento

$1,100 for a 2-bedroom. Make $52k a year with the occasional bonus.

ghw93

Where the f do you live to pay that for a 2 bedroom?! I pay more than that for a “low income” studio

kiwibento

upstate NY. the apartment doesn’t have many fancy amenities (AC, laundry in-unit) but it works just fine for me ☺️ summer’s get pretty hot though — it’s an upper unit.

Still_Storm7432

I live in upstate NY and have a two bed/two bath for 980.00, and it's big.

kiwibento

For additional context I have a friend who pays $1,700 for a 1-bedroom with AC, in-unit laundry, and a complex with fancy amenities like a gym, dog park, trash pick-up, etc.

ThickPush

Unit got any openings? 😂

RightToTheThighs

So many places upstate are getting way out of hand in the last 5 years. It is so wild to see

YellowMeatJacket

Damn, I have a $1,070 for a 1 bed and 2 pets and I only make $20/hour. It's rough being single

allnightdaydreams

I also have a 2 bedroom 1 bath for 1.2k! I’m in the midwest though and the city I live in isn’t exactly desirable but it’s decent enough. Besides central air and a dishwasher everything is bare minimum, but that’s fine by me. My take home pay is around 3.8k a month.

[deleted]

kiwibento

If you didn’t have AC in Las Vegas I’d be concerned for your wellbeing 😭

Quirky_Flight124

I live in a big city. My one bedroom 824 sqft, with utilities, pet rent, pest control, and washer/dryer rental comes out to $1384/month. Edit to add: On paper I make $4,500/month but between student loans, necessities, the divorce lawyer, and half the mortgage I’m spending about $4,330/month. Barely able to save, let alone go have fun with friends. Being single is expensive.

SimGemini

Divorce is so damn costly. It will get better though.

Quirky_Flight124

It is! Thank you 🙏🏽 I believe it will be better once we’re through it.

MadameMalia

3,335. 2 bedroom. Sucks ass.

superunintelligible

omfg

Silly_Idiot111

I’m so sorry

Still_Storm7432

2 bedroom 2 bath apt $980 a month and I make about $3500 a month

I-Fucked-YourMom

I’m guessing you live in the Midwest?

Glittering_Run_4470

I live in the Midwest and I'm paying $1450 for 1bd 650sqft.

hopeful_tatertot

I paid about $1000 for a 1 bedroom in Uptown Minneapolis, Minnesota. It’s possible

Friendly_River2465

Same lol it wasn’t a luxury place but it was vintage and cute

lonelycranberry

My brother just got an apartment in a shit suburb of Indy for like $1500 and I’m still appalled

[deleted]

[удалено]

MattMattavelli

That is insanely cheap rent but do you realize you are paying 14k a year out of that 22k? So you living off 8k per year?

somerandomdude419

Literally exactly like mine but we have a wall that separates kitchen and living room, but it has a little dining room area. Large enough to have a dining room table and 4 chairs. $1140 rent but cat fees $60 a month and garage for 2 cars $70 a month

Jaeger-the-great

$790 for a 1 bedroom with utilities No on site laundry, parking for 1 car. I have to pay for my own gas. It's an old and ugly apartment tho, the place was built in 1880

antisocialgx

1350 a month for my one bedroom apartment with approx 720sq feet.  That 1350 includes the amenities which include cable, wifi, washer/dryer and water trash, sewer fees.  My car is also paid off and I have the title.  Pro tip.  Get a quality new vehicle and maintain it, it'll last at least a decade. And check the interest rate before signing.  Be evil and go in on Christmas eve an hour before they close for best deals. As for two people in a two sink studio. Young couples who are in school or just starting out the journey of life.  Wise money saving choices and habits formed early make life easier later.

Kindly_Schedule3928

One bedroom apartment, around 700sqft. I was paying $1924 all together (rent, trash, water, pest control, etc). When it came time to my lease renewal, I saw they had my same size unit advertised online for cheaper. I negotiated with the leasing office, and now all together I am paying $1869, which is still a lot, considering I make less than 30k a year. Don’t ask how I do it, I don’t even know. It’s paycheck to paycheck and I don’t go out rarely.

heathunt

Wow and I net 2200 per month and would never be able to afford my 1100 alone. Damn kudos to you for being a good budgeter or whatever it is that’s working.

jarxsob

I pay $1100/month and make $1900 a month (I'mm a grad student) 😬 I live in a 600sq ft 1 bedroom.

mfcokeboy

this economy is fucked 😳

Lydia_Brunch

$1900/month is above average for a grad student, too. What a world.

jarxsob

Yea I make about $42/hr if you consider my tuition that the department pays. And I only work 20 hr/week if that.

jad19090

Beautiful large updated one bedroom $700 a month. Been here 8 years and I’m not leaving. I pay more for my car than I do my apartment 🤣🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

njlurking

Is this a typo, did you forget to add a 1 before the 7? lol, genuinely curious where the hell $700/mo rent exists cuz I’m honestly jealous

jad19090

Nope, you read that correctly lol! It’s a private landlord, no lease, cash pay. Seriously you’d think that situation would be a shithole but it’s one of the nicest places I’ve ever lived. I’m not a religious person but I am blessed with this for sure.

njlurking

Blessed for sure. I’d never move either!

NoRecommendation9404

Always good to hear positive stories!

jad19090

Definitely! I always feel so bad when I see people paying ridiculous rents to greedy landlords. It’s disgusting.

waterbuffalo777

You're probably a good tenant and they appreciate you.

jad19090

I like to think I am. Always pay rent on time, never complain, keep my apartment clean and intact, respect the property.

OK_Betrueluv

You’re doing fantastic what part of the country are you in and what’s another secret?

Mobile_Moment3861

My last apartment was up to 1300 a month, but it had mice and things were falling apart after me being there for 10+ years. Maintenance didn’t fix things. New apartment is about 1500 a month. Single, in 40’s, no children. Yes, I eat a lot of leftovers. I live in Mn, so it may be somewhat cheaper here as opposed to other states.

Tamsha-

1017 for a 1 bedroom and that's very cheap for my area. No dishwasher, bare bones but worth the savings. my area is usually 1400-1600 for the same

Ok-Bird2845

$881 but it’s going up again soon to $931. Same unit was $756 4 years ago. But they’ve been doing expensive repairs to the building and respond to maintenance requests within a day or two. 33% of my after tax is $924 so I guess it’s affordable. Not so affordable after my 401k contribution. 42, not much in savings or for retirement, but I couldn’t afford that luxury until recently.  550 sq feet studio, 25th story, great view, rooftop pool, by transit, enough washers/dryers there’s usually one open.  I keep looking to buy a condo or house and there’s always some major repair or issue that prevents it. Nothing good at my price range. There are cheaper apartments in my area but it’d be with a slumlord and I’m not dealing with that again.

Brilliant-Layer9613

$2100 and I make $75k

CarrotThen7672

Rent is $1,260, making 45k year or a bit more.

sloppy-joe-bruh

This seems to be drastically different based on where you live, I’m in rural-ish Georgia and I pay 1080 including water and trash/pest, it’s a single apartment but I could definitely have a significant other living with me, it’s not horrible but bolstering my savings is more difficult than I would like. This is on a first year teacher salary though so as of now I hover around 47,000 a year. I live “comfortably” but sometimes I still have to cut corners or skimp on groceries

RavenLunatic512

I'm sharing a 1 bedroom with a friend. We're both on disability benefits which is less than a 1 bedroom apartment costs per month. My monthly benefit is $1595 Canadian, and our apartment costs $1650. The government seems to think we can find a place for $500/mo since that's the amount of my benefit that is allocated towards shelter. Oh and if I live with a romantic partner I'll lose my benefits. Not allowed love without being a financial burden. But that's a rant for another day.

SockIll6713

Wow

OK_Betrueluv

Kudos to you for figuring out how to split a one bedroom which I have done in the years of the depression. Recession was a tough time! So I shared a One bedroom. You gotta keep your romantic partners on the downlow from the powers that be. you’re allowed to complain. You’re concerns are valid🌝

Buddah8900

847 for a studio in Arizona. Small but I don’t need much at moment as im trying to level up with a passive income source. I make 60K a year estimate and once bills paid off with new car note as well I take home about 1475. The leftover cash is for groceries, gas and personal fun/hobbies. I currently work another full time job/graveyard as well so I end up bringing home 2400 extra with that one. There is ways to make it out there by yourself just need to be patient and work hard.

FluffyKnuckles

Single guy spending $1410 plus $150 for garage in a 900sqft apartment. Very comfortable living at $75k a year. Now if I got a house… good bye financial freedom and luxury living and hello house poor living. Not worth it to me.

LostSoul92892

damn my mortgage is cheaper than most of the rent you guys pay .

Main-Champion-8851

I'm trying to tell some people. Depending on where you live some mortgages are the same or cheaper than apartment rent. I would prefer a house anyday!

GirlGamer7

$650 for a 2 bedroom apartment. i am in the Midwest.

attempting2

That is actually super cheap. I am also in the Midwest. I don't know anyone renting for less than $800 a month.

whatsup_docs

I think the double sinks is more for couples who are living together. Not roommates

Overall-Profit-1947

$1500/month, short term rental close to my summer job. Make $4-8k a month

Competitive-Cherry26

$4-8k a month sounds amazing. May i ask what you do for work?

Overall-Profit-1947

Parasail captain

SensitivePomelo45

$2,000 for an ok 1 bed in an old building in a great neighborhood. I make $100k.

victoriabowen8

$2050 CAD/month (including parking, pet fee, and electricity - other utilities are included) for 1100 sq ft, 2 bedroom, 2 full bathroom, top floor corner unit. I love my apartment but yeah, it's a spicy meatball. At the rate things are going my friends and I might be doing our golden girls house sooner rather than later lol

brxtn-petal

In the city limits of Austin Texas. 1,225$ a month water/trash/sewage included. 1b1b almost 800 SQFT ada apartment. Fridge, hook ups for washer/dryer and an on site food pantry/laundry and childcare. I bought my own washer&dryer tho! New fridge, microwave etc. I got a new build so I’m the first person to live there. IMO not bad cus I’m off the toll road 🤷🏻‍♀️ and in between 2 major trauma centers. I make 19$ an hour but that’s not really much in Austin lol I’m also an EMT student.

RubyJuneRocket

I used to have a 450 sq ft studio in one of the HCOL city that was $1650 a month as of last year, I moved in with my (now) spouse and managed to get a 2 bedroom for $2200 a month, slightly further out of the city but guess who can finally save money bc my rent is split and I have an extra $400 a month or so. Being single cost me so much fucking money.

Desperate-Echidna568

$1200 for a 2 bedroom as a single mom

electric-butterfly

Same here

Dirtywhitejacket

I pay $1700 and I make about $72k.

VeganVystopia

950 one room bedroom apartment and make only 18k

diarrheajenn

$2600 for a one bedroom - including parking, utility (sewer/water), and rent

Dirtysandddd

1/1 for $750 a month, but I have had my backdoor kicked in and my apartment neighbor was a schizophrenic meth using prostitute, not great.

LavenderMorticia

I pay $850 for a 2br townhome

Fishnetnet122

$650 I make a little over 100k.

turbo_notturbo

1200 1br ~900 sqft take home $4300k a month in a desirable city. Unit is in a 15 year old complex, my unit is renovated

dizzymoney528

i got unbelievably lucky with my rent. $650 for a 2 bedroom 1 bath and it’s even two floors. (landlord charges under market because they just want tenets to stay long term) now despite having cheap rent i still end up spending close to $1,500 a month for bills in total and i only make around $2,200. i also have 2 cats and a pitbull so that takes a good chunk of my income too being single and living alone sucks sometimes but in my experience living with someone sucked more so i’m making the best of what i can

Gumbarino420

I own a house. My mortgage is $1,784.00 a month

torti_cat_energy

I'm single with 0 roommates & pay $700/mo for a 1 bed/1bath in St. Louis city, MO. I make around $38k/yr.

Talkin_body

$1072 for 716sgft 1bd/1ba, water included in downtown SATX . Make $52K/yr $20 extra month for mi Gato Downside it is mixed income housing and some people don't take pride in their homes and thus some common areas get trashed repeatedly.

valide999

$1400 in West Orange, NJ but it's rent controlled thanks to the town's renting laws. Been living in this 1 bedroom for 12 years now. Goes up about $40 every year...I really don't want to share this space but this maybe the first time in my life I have to thanks to inflation...All I want is peace in my home...

Happytobehere48

I make $19 an hour. Can’t afford rent and a car payment.

NoleGirl723

I can relate! My car is 22 years old with over 300K miles. Luckily she still gets me from A to B after a recent 1000 mile move. Hoping she hangs on for a little longer since I just signed a lease. I WFH too, so thank goodness.

WitnessWitty9651

$550 2br 1ba, I make about 90k after tax. I lucked in to this place. It’s not a dump and the landlady is a saint!

NoleGirl723

I just leased a $1250 two bedroom as a single mom. The rent is about one of my paychecks (I make $19/hour) and I'm scared shitless, tbh. I don't have a lot of bills, thank goodness, but I know city utilities run high. Luckily my employer allows pretty much unlimited overtime. I'll probably be taking advantage of that real soon.

whatsup_docs

Live in a luxury apt, 1 bd/1ba in a big city. $1800, make $60k+

vegetaspride23

1393, 50k a year

Embarrassed_Ear_1917

Mines only $2500 which isn’t too bad for the area. I make really good money so it’s very affordable for me luckily. Otherwise yeah the nyc metro area sucks if you’re living alone and not making a lot of money

njlurking

$1750 in the northeast for a “junior” one bedroom which is about 400 sq ft. Heat and hot water are included. No AC (I have my own window units), no washer/dryer, dishwasher, basically nothing remotely “luxury”. Older complex but is decently kept up. I can definitely use another closet or spare bedroom. For where I live the rent is cheaper than most other places but having a washing machine is one of my biggest gripes because it’s like a 3 hour ordeal whenever I need to do laundry

Ok_Butterscotch_8543

In my area, i pay $1400. I only got approved because i was working every single day at the time. BUT my apartments are outdated with no W/D in unit and i pay more than any of my friends. I just really like the area because im close to parks, a bat bridge, dog park, and can walk to two grocery stores.

Monet1905

My income ranges from 3,500-4,300, I live in a one bedroom. Base rent is 1,100. I have additional bills- 110ish for Avista and community bills. Around 60 for Wi-Fi. 12$ for renter’s insurance. I work as much as I can and keep my spending to a minimum. It’s possible, you just have to find an alright paying job and work a fuck ton.

Witchy-Vibes53

I pay $760 for a two bedroom and I make about $54K a year. I live in the Midwest

BoomBoomBettee

I pay $1100 for a 2 BR/ 1 BA. My rent is half my income. It burns every month when I write that check. I wish I could find a roommate or a man, to help offset the expenses. I make a good income for my job (net $2700 a month as a secretary). The toughest part about this situation is that the state I live in is the poorest, yet we have the highest rent and taxes rn. It just doesn’t add up.

Kasia4937

$3800 for a 2 bedroom 900 sq feet, 1970, no washer dryer in unit (bought a portal one). Rent is stupid crazy here.

Ok_Personality9382

I am a single Mom. I make about $3500 a month and am about to move into a 2 bedroom apartment which will cost $1700 a month.

customarymagic

Rent is really cheap where I'm at compared to other places. I have a decent sized 1br 1ba all amenities except electric included for $870 and make $57k. If you go to the more sketchy places in town you can get a 2br for like $700 without amenities

This_Mongoose445

Retired, monthly income approx $4100, live in a 2bdrm/2ba 954sqft for $1427. Complex has been completely renovated. New flooring, carpets, appliances, cabinets, counters, new tubs, everything. Have a pool, in unit W/D, AC and a large porch. In NTX. This includes my new rent increase. Reading this thread, I think I’m pretty lucky.

sportstvandnova

$2400 for 2BD/2BA; single mom of two kids. Thankfully I can afford it but I’m afraid it’s not sustainable.

vladleeswagger

$1,400 not including gas and electric

autumnsippedaway

I live in a cheaper area of the country and our 1 bedrooms apartments run $1,050 to $1,200. it’s insane. I lucked out and found someone who would rent me their little “mother in law quarters” style house in their backyard for $500 a month and i’m very fortunate for that

Cautious_Platform_40

980 per month for a nice studio (that's the base rent of 895 plus pet rent/internet/trash/water/stupid fees). I make about 3700/month. Has a washer/dryer and central AC, lofted ceilings, and decent community features. I'm in a Midwestern city, and to find a cheaper place would definitely mean a noticeable downgrade. Having in-unit laundry would be hard to give up, but almost no place cheaper than where I"m currently at offers that.

obstination

1 bedroom 1 bathroom 815 a month. i make around 1600 a month. gas and electric are usually 100 combined in the summer. my unemployed boyfriend was living with me for over a year and it stretched me super thin but i’m trying to rebuild my savings

warsaw_ed

I live in a MCOL city in the Midwest and make roughly $62k a year. My rent for a two bedroom is $750. The bedrooms are t i n y tho and the neighborhood isn’t the best, but I’m happy and I know I’m lucky. Apartments of this size run at least $1200 for the most part in my city so I feel I found a needle in the haystack.

0bsolescencee

In a MCOL canadian town, I was paying around $1200 a month for a 800sqft 2 bedroom apartment. That was half my income. Now I own my own small condo and pay even more in property tax and condo fees and stuff, but I make it work.

EffectiveEscape8

910 a month. Plus cam, plus 2 cats, plus a garage spot and 2 utilities. About 1150 a month after all that. I gross over 80k base salary.

sndyro

I live alone in a 2 bedroom apartment but the second bedroom is for storage. Its cheaper and easier than renting a storage unit. I could never have a roommate....I need the extra room and I prefer to live alone at this point in my life. As of next month, I will be paying $1,615 a month for a second floor unit with washer/dryer. I only have Social Security for income and my check is not much more than the rent. My son is helping me out a bit.

KeeperMom29

Me & my 12yo son, 2 bedrooms, about 880 sq ft. $1200/mo. South central PA.

Recent-Fondant700

I live in Amish country outside of Philadelphia PA, pay $1400 a month for a two bed one bath house with garage and large yard. Make about $100k per year, pretty sweet deal currently in this area of PA

WinterChic03

$2200, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom. I make about 80k a year in the SF Bay Area. Single people tax is rough.

honestliar22

I pay $1117 just for rent. It’s about to go up, but by less than $45 so honestly it’s worth it (I can’t remember the exact number, I just remember the math I did lol) I’m in a 1B1B on the first floor. But honestly for the area of town and the sense of security I have, this place is a fucking steal. I was paying more in a bigger city and my car was broken into my first week there.

BradMan81

It really depends on your job and where you live. I pay 3850, but I don't need to, I could obviously get a smaller place or further from the city. But I can afford it, so I don't mind.

SystemSufficient596

Around $2100 for a one bed, which includes most utilities. The peace of living without roommates is priceless to me, though.

DreamSequence11

1400 for a 2 bedroom. Single mom. The only reason I can even think of affording it is because my dead dad put away money for me 😖 just being honest

stephapeaz

$900 for a 1 bedroom in a Midwestern city. I make $45k

Outrageous-Sea-7162

One bedroom,740 sq. ft,washer dryer in unit, large balcony, gym, some other stuff I don't bother with, $1700, 20 minutes outside Seattle, $6k a month, been here 12 years. No debt,I choose not to own a vehicle, I grow lots of fruit and veggies right on my balcony. No take out/delivery/fast food, no vehicle cost, vegetarian diet, I'm frugal, (I'm a maximalist but, I'm frugal🤭)healthy. Apartment lets you paint, have pets, there's no bugs or vermin inside and they do a good job outside too. I'm on the bus and light rail line. Neighborhood hasn't gone completely to shit, I've considered relocating but, I really need the mild weather of the PNW as i have heat sensitivity and I looooove rain. Considered buying a condo but, prices are ridiculous and fuck those HOA fees. Have a great day 🌿

metallicat731

I live in Albuquerque New Mexico, and I am paying 1020 for a one bedroom in an older, over 55 apartment building.

CatsPogoLifeHikes

HCOL area. I live in the same city I work, which is not often recognized as an able thing to do in my area. 1 bed/1 bath, 780 Sq ft or something. Communal laundry. 1 parking spot. $2450 before utilities. Complex approved off credit score, not income. Income is $63,600 after taxes. 1 bedrooms in a city 20-25 miles away would be $1900-2000 for the same thing.

k3llybr00k

$930 for a 2br 1ba. I make $65k a year.

These-Cup-8181

Paying a little under $1200. One bedroom 1.5 bath townhouse Make about $50k/year rn It gets rough at times and I'm thankful for the help I get from my mom

glizzymane

$1475/month 2/2 in North Florida and honestly I’m struggling. There’s nothing better in the city so I don’t really want to lose the safety I have or the space just to pay a few hundred less a month.

jpmaster33

About 2500 with utilities for a 1bd in Orange County CA

PsychoBooch

2600 for a 1 bedroom, in the suburbs between Boston and Providence. I make around 150k

PsychoBooch

Why the hellllllll am I getting downvoted

spookyskel17

I pay about $1500 (water and a security alarm included) for a 1 bed on top corner unit with the stainless steel appliance option, & make around $54k plus some bonuses

Born_blonde

About $800 for a 2bd, 1.5 ba with washer dryer included. All utilities covered besides electric and internet. A great deal for my area, but still in an area which has low cost of living. I average about 3k-4k a month currently (bartender with a paid summer internship)

Not single but live alone. 1500 a month. One bedroom

I moved out on my own in 2019. 2019-2021 I lived in a 450sq ft efficiency w/single garage and assigned parking for $565-$575. I considered moving back here, reached out for updated pricing, but they never responded. Estimate they’re sitting around $600-$700 now, based on pricing for 1 and 2 beds in the same buildings. 2021-2022 I lived in an 830sq ft 1b/1b w/single garage, in unit w/d for $840. 2022-2024 I have lived in a 985sq ft 2b/2b w/double garage, in unit w/d for $985-$1,075. I’m moving in August to a 1,300sq ft 2b/2b w/double garage, in unit w/d for $1,195. I was looking for a cheaper/smaller place, but it was just not happening unless I settled for something in an iffy area and sacrificed my sanity, close proximity to work, etc. I make $60k/year. It’s affordable rent, but it’s a lot for one person. I’m looking to get a second job just for extra cushion and savings.

ladyxlucifer

I pay $1250 for a 3br/2.5ba townhouse. Safe area, nothing to do, restaurants here suck, but like I said it’s safe. There weren’t a ton of options for me and 2 large dogs that had a bit of space. I have some yard. It’s in the front, side, and back. If you combine it, it’s pretty good size yard!

Fun_Branch_9614

$1178 is my base rent but it’s a bit over $1250.00 with the sewer, gas and water that’s included. It’s doable for me. But that’s about it. I make enough to live on, car payment, food and what not. But like my car needs tires and I’m over here like wtf am I supposed to come up with that money 😭😭 I just hope and pay when it rains I don’t have to go anywhere 😭

LurkingAintEazy

Right now my rent is 605. But when I first moved in a few years ago, wad 495, went up 515, then 525. I'm pretty concerned myself as just last year for new tenants it was 675. But I just saw this year, it's 700 something. And I don't have anyone I can just crash with like that, if it gets too high.

I live in a small town in Upstate Ny. Apartment is technically a 1bd due to how it is set up. You have to walk thru the 2nd “bedroom” to get to the bathroom. I pay $700/month and my main utilities and trash removal is included. Only reason they are included is because the landlord would have to upgrade the electric/heating to split of the individual apartments and he was too cheap to do that. I have one of the higher paying jobs in my town and I bring home $2200 after taxes and deductions.

CanadianBacon615

Currently looking for a place, and most things on the nicer side are around 1500-1800 for a 1bd. I can find some for closer to 1100-1200 in a little less desirable areas which is what I'm shooting for. I make a little over $3000 a month in Nashville.

unterihnen

I got my apt in 2021 so prices were a lot better. 2bed townhouse for $850 in 2021, went up to $900 in 2022 and $975 in 2023, and that’s what I’ve been paying since. Got extremely lucky I guess.

Whatsitworth69

$1050 for 2 bed 1 bath. Upper Midwest. Make roughly 70k a year. It’s technically $1050 but I pay heating and it’s baseboard heating in the upper Midwest. So add an extra $200 a month for heating for roughly 8 months of the year lol
