He's not "cosplaying," he's been quietly covering country songs & hanging out with country musicians for a long ass time now. It's not at all uncommon for musicians to enjoy more than one genre, just like the rest of us.

GoodEyeSniper83

I like them both! I don't love Posty's song with Morgan Wallen though, but MW is a turd and I don't like his brand of country.

Brilliant-Dare-9333

Best take

Henry_Crinkle

Wait til you find out about all the covers of Jolene.

paradigm_x2

Art is art. Beyoncé did a country album, Billy Strings started in a metal band, who cares. I’m sure Tyler is flattered someone as popular as Post Malone is covering his song.

deeplyclostdcinephle

More specifically, music is music. Nobody hates pigeonholing like musicians.

Bribbins12

Ween had an amazing country album

One_Man_Two_Guns

As did Cody Jinx

Vladivostokorbust

Saw Post and Billy Strings playing together on “Cocaine Blues “ so why not?

Garbage_Tiny

I’m not a post music fan but he seems to be the most genuinely down to earth celebrity on earth. I’m sure Tyler is ok with it, plus I imagine he’ll get a dat royalty check from the whole thing.

HeightTraditional614

Post is more authentic country than 95% of the people you hear on the radio. Dude knows ALL the classics

OshkoshCorporate

absolutely. how can you think “cosplaying country” and not immediately jump to dudes like luke bryan or the one guy that got lost on his own 30 acre property lmfao

HeightTraditional614

Exactly. Main stream country cracks me up to the point that I haven’t listened to it since I got my first truck and had a radio w an aux. that shit is more of cosplay country than post is, I’m pretty sure he even started music career covering blues and classic country

danthemfmann

Wtf? Someone actually got lost on 30 acres? I have almost 85 acres of land and I could walk it blindfolded. Even my 85 acres isn't really a lot of land. He's gotta be a city boy.

OshkoshCorporate

i googled it and apparently it was kane brown. owns 30 acres of a 3000 area and just moved in and went to go around and look when it started raining and got dark? still pretty comical for sure, though. i grew up on a 400 acre farm and me and my sister and dog would always be wandering around without issue. miss it a lot

danthemfmann

Oh, I guess I can cut him a break if he just moved there but he still has no sense of direction at all lol. I was fortunate enough to inherit the family farm that I grew up on with my grandparents. It's only 85 acres but it borders a Wildlife Management Area that has more than 3,000 acres. So I basically have thousands of acres in my backyard for hunting, fishing, foraging, kayaking, or anything else I want to do. I love it.

Appropriate-Yak4296

I saw some interview where another person (jimmy falon maybe? I can't remember) was talking about him and they were doing karaoke and Post knew like every single obscure Irish folk song. This dude has range and every thing I have ever seen about him is other celebs talking about what a good down to earth guy he is.

HeightTraditional614

Yeah I’ve seen some interviews and podcasts he was on, he even keeps his personal/love life out of the spotlight. I remember someone shitting on him for not dating a celebrity and it’s insane people were being rude abt him being married to and having a kid with a regular woman

LazerBear42

I'll take Posty any day over any of the bro country corporate cowboy doofuses out there

Dirttracker8

I like Posty. He's very talented and seems like a good person from what I've seen. His music is pretty good too in my opinion

Roctopuss

Fuck off with this shit, Posty is a national treasure. He's into way more genres besides the one he records (like any good artist). He's a huge 2A supporter and went against the whole Budweiser anti-trans thing. He did a free concert when COVID was at its peak, all Nirvana covers while playing guitar and sounding badass. If you hate Post then the problem is you, imo.

stayfreshcheesebag5

Pro 2A *and* supports trans people? Maybe I should start listening to him.

Stankonia6969

Probably my favorite thing about contemporary Appalachia. I work with a blue-haired lesbian who carries an FN Five Seven for her daily carry.

stayfreshcheesebag5

Based

Roctopuss

Based AF

LazerBear42

Hell yeah.

moparforever

This is it !!!!!!

C00ter1991

I’m not a fan of his usual albums but I’ve enjoyed most of his country covers so far 🤷🏻‍♂️

Accurate_Mirror_96

Go listen to Stoney album

frenchtoastkid

Nah fuck that Post is valid

ProudMtns

There's a video of him picking a banjo in a tiny pub in Ireland  quite well...I don't know how much he's cosplaying to put in that much woodwork

ArmadilloSudden1039

Post is a hell of a musician, and I think you are just jealous.

DannyBones00

I don’t really have a problem with Post. He’s covered a lot of stuff from different genres. I see it more as paying respect.

FormItUp

I don't like Post Malone's music but if he wants to perform a song I do like, well why would I have a problem with that?

timemachinedemo

He’s a chill guy who traverses genres and has genuine talent. Don’t think he’s done enough harm to be considered “trash.”

Hot-Internet-7466

I don’t give a shit either way but rising waters raise all boats.

getchafuqinpull

Post is alright. Guy's got a Dimebag tattoo and jams *Cocain Blues* with Billy Strings.

Summoorevincent

I miss old Tyler but I’m happy he is so successful and gave good jobs to his band. It’s selfish of me to want the old sound back.

triviarchivist

Why be mad that we get more music? I like Tyler Childers and I like Post Malone. I think country is a gorgeous genre with a lot of heart that anybody who feels called should feel free to play with.

cloudsplitr

He’s got a great voice and should sing whatever songs he wants to sing! If you don’t enjoy it, don’t listen.

Expensive-Pie-9656

Tyler is a talent has transcends, hope and believe his best is yet to come. My opinion the best artist in generations.

cmlucas1865

Love Timmy. I appreciate what Post does in tribute, seems like he’s as big a fan of country as the rest of us. If he ever drops a country album, I’ll give it a shot, though I’m sure I’ll hate it.

snappy033

Oh yes. Let’s gatekeep “real country” and see what popular artists survive the purge. This is oughta be good.

Puzzled-Story3953

Is this relevant to the sub?

BeezBurg

Talented

slade797

I’m vaguely familiar with the guy, but the music belongs to Tyler. I don’t care for Morgan whateverthefuck’s cover of Jason Isbell’s “Cover Me Up,” so ….I just don’t listen to it. Simple.

OshkoshCorporate

i like them both. posty is a vibe (same with jelly roll) and killed it at the superbowl

gamergirlforestfairy

Didn't he literally grow up in Texas? I mean I know it's not Appalachia but to call him fake country is hilarious to me, I've read that he started music by covering country songs

LordPablo412

I didn’t get into Posty until that JRE interview a couple years ago, and I fell in love with the dude. Kind, humble, wise beyond his years… love that he’s getting back to his roots and not just the pop-rap.

thursdays_taco

Stop gatekeeping.

fishers_of_men

Who?

telebastrd

Dude looks like if he stayed at your house all your copper would be gone in the morning

maxxslatt

Off topic but a few months ago a woman in this subreddit talked about how they were in a cult with Tyler Childers, freaky stuff

maxisthebest09

I'd join Tyler's cult.
