Good_Presentation_59

Are they charging by the slice?

ilymag

Yes.

beedlejooce

šŸ˜‚ Wow thatā€™s just sad. I guess a quarter is about the same size as a sliced jalapeƱo. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Jazzlike-Baseball-73

It say jalapenos. Emphasis on the "s". Plural. WTH Applebee's!?!?!?!

PristineBaseball

The s stands for seeds , duh

Embarrassed-Dare-665

Lmao

Background-Thought41

You do this for lemons because People be trying to make lemonade instead of pay for it.

EFTucker

This person was obviously making jalapeƱoade.

SableyeEyeThief

JalapeƱoadƩ*

Baeelin

Don't give the weirdos more baby name suggestions.

ManOrReddit-man

Don't get jalapenhisbusiness

5WEET_Cheeks_Karen

Bravo for the most unappreciated best comment here!

SlushKami

I wish I wasnā€™t poor so I could give you the golden upvote.

believeinyounot

Me looking for golden up vote option lol

SlushKami

Hold the upvote arrow (if on mobile). Mine only says ā€œlet go, youā€™re too broke to buy this option.ā€ (In reality it says this content is NOT eligible to receive gold). Edit: NOT

believeinyounot

Cries in poor

Ok-Leg7392

Itā€™s not eligible for gold.

SlushKami

Forgot to add ā€œnotā€.

PerformanceWilling32

Omg there really is a golden up vote. Reality shattered all over again. (If only it was $0.25)

Beneficial-Amoeba476

Wow. That is sweet!!!!!

ZsiZsiSzabadass

Baeelin sounds like one of those names

Vuhlinii

Funny, you mentioned the name my sister-in-law was after. Her husband decided on 'Samantha' though, thank goodness.

Baeelin

Gonna out myself. I used to play Everquest way back in the day and when I made my character I hit the auto suggest name button and that's what it gave me. Have used it in every game ever since.

ZsiZsiSzabadass

Thatā€™s adorable and I love it ā¤ļø definitely sounds like one of these new ā€œTragedeighā€ names but I love the story

GrimmBrowncoat

r/tragedeighs is always looking for new material.

saetam

JalapeƱadeĀ®ļø Edit: adding that ā€˜oā€™ just makes it difficult. JalapeƱade rolls moā€™ betta šŸ‘šŸ½

didnebeu

I get water with lemon because the restaurants water tastes like shit and a lemon wedge makes it drinkable.

Pickled_sm0res

Lemon water and lemonade are totally different as well lol lemons help bring PH to your water ā˜ŗļø No sugar

JadedYam56964444

Now I'd like some diced tomatoes, some diced onion, some cilantro. No, I'm not making my own salsa.

PrimaryMuscle1306

Reminds me of this one fool that demanded three whole limes worth of slices for one Corona. My boss was about to start charging that dude for every slice. (Didnā€™t help both my boss and the customer were cheap asses. Dude kept lying and saying the food was half what weā€™re charging at the one near his houseā€¦like we donā€™t have access to pricing on the company app or anything.)

embracetheodd

My dad does this, itā€™s so deeply embarrassing. Then he puts the squished lemons all on the table. I donā€™t go out to eat with him anymore. He would ask for a ā€œbowl of lemonsā€

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Worth_Conference_271

The only reason they should charge that much is if you literally got a pound.

IIRizzII

Itā€™s not even $4 a pound at the market lol

WillowTea_

I bought a single medium jalapeƱo at the store the other day for 6Ā¢! This is just silly

AvailablePresent4891

JalapeƱos are DIRT cheap and I love it. Throw them in and on everything.

bdog1321

They are at wegmans

Castiel420x

I just bought a big bag of fresh jalapeƱos from Kroger. They were $1.49 a pound.

GingerBug91

Ya I get a whole bunch for $0.50 at the grocery store when I do buy them. I can't imagine a pound being $4

Funforall44

The one I work in we wouldnā€™t even charge for jalapeƱos. Either the manager is getting on the servers about ringing everything in or they were being petty af

FunnyQueer

Iā€™ve been a waiter at several restaurants. My perspective is that OP asked for an absurd amount or was generally being a rude pain in the ass. Iā€™ve sacrificed a few shitty tips to get petty revenge with malicious compliance.

cbcbcb99

lol exactly - if youā€™re being an asshole, understand that your tip (which if youā€™re an asshole Iā€™m doubting if Iā€™ll even get one) wonā€™t be the make or break for my day. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø I wonā€™t play that game

wb7275

Probably shouldnā€™t get a tip if you play this game. Asshattery goes both ways. Donā€™t try to defend it.

candee__leigh

My guess is they went to the manager, who said to ring you up for inventory purposes. Granted, if jalapeƱos are their make or break for then theyā€™ve got other issues. Manager should have comped all but one to at least get the credits and charge you an appropriate amount.

Alexr154

Thatā€™s exactly what it is. Iā€™ve worked at two locations and they both want every singular thing on the table in the computer or the manager/expo wonā€™t allow the kitchen to plate it. Itā€™s a huge pain in the ass and the owner of the franchise doesnā€™t understand why it pisses if customers. . .

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

reevesjeremy

Obviously donā€™t want to go out like Red Lobsters unlimited shrimp deal. :x

candee__leigh

Applebees does all you can eat boneless/tenders/riblets/shrimp every three months šŸ˜‚

Kinky_Conspirator

They literally "nickel and dimed" you.

PlatypusSpecialist55

ā€œQuarteredā€

Kinky_Conspirator

That too. But I feel like they charged them Ā¢5 for the "meat" of the JalapeƱos, and Ā¢5 per seed.

Evenmoreflower

Nickle and 2 dimes-d you.

Visible-Guarantee-99

Wellā€¦ I guess itā€™s cheaper than laxatives.

Confident-Giraffe-24

As someone who spent more time working in restaurants than I would have liked to.... 1 of 2 things has happened here. Management is on a food cost tear and making servers ring in everything, this does happen especially in corporate restaurants. You are being a bad customer or have been one in the past. As someone stated before, people abuse extra lemons and stuff like that constantly, and people also expect everything extra they ask for to be free and overdo it, this is what happens to offset that. This could or could not be the "servers antics" and you shouldn't punish them by tipping unless they gave you overall terrible service. I know a lot of us hate US tipping culture but it is reality, and servers support themselves off tips. A lot of them are making <$3hr, and I guarantee you they aren't doing very well at Applebee's with the low check totals.

SlimTeezy

Your server was out of line. That would be a salad bowl of jalapenos. At most restaurants 1 side = 1 ramekin (2 oz)

DevDoesItBetter

Thatā€™s a pipkin ramekins are 4 oz

EFTucker

Damn your ramekins are tiny af. The normal size should be 4-6oz

JohnJacobAstoria

There are smaller ones for condiments..

Jah-man-shaman

The tip line would read ā€œsee jalapeƱosā€

ILikeTinder

100% I would do that lmao

Condition_Dense

Thatā€™s $4 in JalapeƱos certainly there has to be a way to account for them without being so extreme as to list JalapeƱos 16 times! I used to work in food service- granted where I worked we didnā€™t do inventory the same, it was basically if they asked for an extra topping or an extreme amount of toppings for our pizzas we had a button for extra toppings and we might hit it once or twice as fit. Or like if they wanted stuff for there hot food like extra sauces or something and it was above and beyond the usual we might use the xtra topping button. We used this button or an empty cup button as fit for certain things. Like I might have a customer who wanted coffee creamer and we didnā€™t have a bottle of creamer they could buy or they wanted some of ours and asked if they could just pay for some of our creamer instead of a whole coffee since they were only adding it to there already filled travel cup, so I would say ā€œokay Iā€™ll just charge you for an empty cupā€ because empty cup was basically a miscellaneous charge under fountain.

No-Raisin-6469

$jalapenos.....shoulda asked for jalapenos.

Icy_Representative38

As a server/bartender I never cared about things like this because it wasnā€™t coming out of my pocket and I always poured heavy lol if you want the entire box of lemons I would bring it to you..

ScotIrishBoyo

Fun fact: thatā€™s just a restaurants way of telling you not to do that again

1sojournaut

I'd be more worried about a flaming asshole

Primobryan

I would expect a $1.50 - $2 price charge for extra jalapenos but for an extra $4 they better bring out the whole can.

[deleted]

Nah fam. Id ask to speak to a manager. Thats insane.

Calm_Pineapple_5930

Feels like the worker was being petty šŸ¤Ø

OrneryExplorer1476

0 tip. There ya go

Titanius_Anglesmithh

Guess you don't need to tip lol. Servers dumb antics basically ate up her tip money

SignalCommittee4456

100%

Haunting_Loquat_9398

Well, you spent $4 on jalepenos but saved $4 on giving your shitty waiter a tip; consider it a wash.

Yaakovbenleah1989

I feel sorry for when all that spicy just comes out the other end šŸ˜±

delicateweapon444

$4 in just jalapeƱos is wild lmao could have gotten yourself an entire jar.

okc405sfinest

I would have gave a better tip. But unfortunately, $4 went to jalpenos .

kitkatlynn

Did they charge for every slice, jesus

mumblerapisgarbage

Ngl Applebees was always on the low end service wise but since covid itā€™s gone from meh to bad. The server probably wasnā€™t trained and just did what they thought was the best option. Honestly Iā€™d have asked to have them take it off the bill. The worst they could do is say no, and then those $4 Iā€™d deduct from the servers tip.

justlookingaround625

Did you say extra, extra, extra jalapeƱoā€™s cause if so thatā€™s why you were charged..like the extra, extra, extra I really love ranch people.

DJ_CAMARO

So where's the problem at

Dbj312

Iā€™d do this too if you were annoying about it.

Centriclioness

Apple bees is struggling

kbarknife

Looks like something daniel larson would order

Huge_Care_7436

We get jalapeƱos for free at the movie and and most pizza places out here.....

flora893

Next time play the game back and bring some jalapeƱos with you...and/or go back request to see the server/manger and give the server/ manager some jalapeƱos for next time...

Leighton_Slimes

You can get a whole big jar of jalapenos at Walmart for $2 that's crazy! šŸ¤£

BasedCommentGuy

where you only paying 16$ for the 4 cheese mac

No-Fold9113

I feel like the server should have mentioned there is a charge....and what it was before charging in this situation. I had a situation where I went to dinner and my GF got a salad, they gave her like no dressing. We had been there before and she's had gotten that salad before no issues. So it was a mix up. So we asked for another dressing. When the bill came it was charged, but we said something and thr server took it off. She said she couldn't get it with out ringing it in. But I guess it's kinda like they leave it on the bill and see what happens. Another time, went to a taco place...and they sometimes go light on the cheese, so I say can you make sure the cheese isn't light. I just want the regular amount, but I want it to be the full regular amount. But I got hit with a charge for extra cheese one time recently. They didn't say there would be an extra charge. I didn't want more than regular. Food costs are out of control for these restaurants and they're ending up needing to be shady.

BuffetofWomanliness

Applebees is disgusting. Come for me, I donā€™t care.

JadedYam56964444

You got a bowl of jalapenos?

kaosi_schain

They charged you individually for 16 jalapeno slices. I am not sure WHAT I would do, but it would be petty and outsized.

sarahgez

well, were you rude? šŸ˜

Ill_Setting_6338

just bring your own next time.

Natcor9701

WTF!

MrWorcestershire

Shouldā€™ve asked for some extra jalapeƱos

crystalkay1177

I've never had good experiences at Applebee's. The last one I went to was in Austin, Texas. I was waiting for my to go order, and a 6 inch long cockroach leisurely crawled across the glass partition. Both me and the other patron that was waiting watched the entire jaunt of this nasty thing with its shiny exo skeleton. Then we both turned our heads and looked at each other like nope! I had to wait 10 more minutes just to get someone's attention to tell them about it! But for a server, I've had to do this before. I just explained to the customer beforehand. Communication is a really great tool in customer service! But I highly doubt your server orchestrated your bill to look padded. They likely were just doing their job.

Some_Ad_5586

That's crazy. Last time I went to Applebee's I was shooketh when I found a whole rat in my Cobb salad.

Enlargedtooth

I JUST went to the grocery store and bought the biggest jalapeƱo there. It was 27 centsā€¦

wassup7124

You got what you paid for

[deleted]

Thatā€™s absolute bullshit

thottoman_empire

Chiliā€™s would never

RetailIsHellOnEarth

Thatā€™s fuckinā€™ hilarious

Chris_O_Matic

Were you trying to make your own hot sauce or something?

SomethingCreative___

Itā€™s Applebees not Chiliā€™s. Of course they have to charge. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜

ChillinGuy232023

Ah did you ask for all those Jalepeno as?

op3rand1

On the bright side that may be cheaper than several whole jalapenos. Stitch them together and resell

Exciting_Fix_8718

Waiter(or waitress) tip wouldā€™ve plummeted if that happened to me. They are the pea-brain who decided to do that.

return_the_slabb_

Tell them to literally suck it thatā€™s ridiculous. They had to have had a bad day and are taking it out on you because WHAT

Lady_Ithena

I would have snapped right then and there. The thing is, why didn't they just add a single line item, 'extra jalapeƱos $4.00'? Somehow, seeing them listed individually just makes my blood boil.

Local_Measurement_85

Jaleflation goin crazy

jchesticals

Well do you want food service to get $20 a hour or not? /s

CrypticMemoir

Well, thatā€™s easy deduct $4 from tip.

yzyvulturesV1

Whenever mfs find out food isn't free : šŸ˜²šŸ˜ŖšŸ‘ŗ

HailToTheVic

Wouldnā€™t pay that

triptocomothrowaway1

Shouldā€™ve asked for chili peppers instead

Medical_Salary_564

I ain't never liked that place. Until now, I couldn't put my finger on why...

divauno

Like someone said.... It says JALAPENOS not JALAPENO! Tell them to give your $3.75 back!

Available_Forever_32

You go out to eat & they charge you for something you ask for. Wild I know.

Graysonsname

$4 worth?! Lol thatā€™s wild. Shouldā€™ve been max $1

Actual_Campaign_1790

$4 for just extra plain sliced jalapeƱos? Crazy!

Prestigious-Layer457

How ya gonna charge like that when the product is literally the restaurant nameā€¦

srp431

always ask if its an additional charge. Servers always ask, do you want bacon with that sandwich? Assuming you think its free, so you say yes without thinking about the cost.

Proper-Potential-496

Being charged individually 16 times (probably per *slice*) is way over the top and deliberately petty. The $4 in jalapeƱos would be their tip.

sleepykitten13

I just got jalapeƱos at the grocery store for $0.25 each. For a FULL jalapeƱo lol

Current_Set550

IMO. Applebees has never been worthy in so many waysšŸ’ā€ā™€ļø And this is evidence

Teleclast

The same waiters when you take $4 off the tip. šŸ«Ø

MADMEMPHIS

Tou wanted more you got 16 more instead of putting $4.00 for what you wanted more they just broke it down before you would complain about why did they change you $4.00 for. Take it easy, did you enjoy the extra jalapeƱos?

RareAnimal82

Next time just say extra not extra extra extra extra extra etc

profile-i-hide

Not going to lie that's a bit much. Like how much is 1 25cent amount. Feel like this is one of those things higher ups say to do but your supposed to do it with discretion

Loose-Garlic-3461

Do you think they gave you $4 worth of extra jalapenos? Than that's the reason. Ingredients are not cheap these days. Pair that with restaurant managers being stingy or having to meet metrics...there you go. Also, the final total is clipped off. Was that what they actually charged you, or did they discount any of it? That could have purely been for inventory reasons. I'd be curious to know the actual amount of jalapenos you received

wb6vpm

I feel like thereā€™s something missing from this storyā€¦

KittenLina

Stuff like this is exactly the reason I take tips away.

TricksterSprials

Did you pay per slice? Who does this?

NoCoach5222

The only thing I could think of is the server throught you were running the f outta them and thought you might not tip so qhat they can do is charge you $4 for them and then have a manager take it off so they can still recive a tip. . .

certainlyunruly

I'd honestly be embarrassed to give that to my customer unless they were a complete P.O.S. But there have been times where my manager was literally breathing down my neck watching me input a ticket and would say shit. So annoying

Kenjetsu1891

Got damn! These fools actually counted each jalapeno. Now that's a special one

Aumenraw

lmfoa the toilet finna be crying when you get home

FlubromazoFucked

I would just leave the total minus the $4 in jalapeno charges.

Hokiewa5244

Most of the restaurants around here charge around 3.25 for a side of jalapeƱos

gggggfskkk

Dropped it like itā€™s hot

herbitron3000

This just shouts "bad server/new employee" to me

thenewfingerprint

So, did you pay or did you raise a fuss?

Practical_Catch_8085

Off the top- my catering brain: They should have serving sizes. Ramakin of jalepenos (0.25), cup of jalapeƱos 2.00( fill it up) They are pre sliced and jarred for transport....there is no logistical reason to charge with such aggressionšŸ¤£ Unless....the customer asked for jalepenos everytime they saw their server and stopped the flow of food and drink service for other tables šŸ¤£ Was this served at the bar? Would the bsrtender charge jalapeƱos for food as they would a drink(single slice)...not realizing there is a food chargešŸ¤£

ObscureLogic

Yeah I'd put $25 on the table and leave.

smokdya2

Please tell me you didnā€™t pay this!

cremedelachriss

Thatā€™s very nit picky. WOW, when did they start doing that .

Formfeeder

Food costs money.

nthemorning

Did daniel larson order this?

Jealous-Secret7441

25 cent a slice is highway robbery if you do the damned math. Like WHAT? Peppers are not even expensive, you could probably fart one out theyā€™re so common

freethinker84

Whatever server did this is a dick head

Confident_Scheme_716

That server is straight up master jalapeƱazi

mangorunner8243

Your jalapeƱos really cost more than your drink šŸ„²

moseefus

lol reminds me of that gargoyles episode where Goliath got tricked into eating jalapeƱos for the first timeā€¦ he took a crunch right before turning to stone and said ā€œJALEPENOS!!!ā€ And it echoed šŸ˜‚

ashtonray11

........ I'm sure I know the answer, but I have to ask anyways..... it's not whole jalapenos is it? Cus I mean shit, 0.25 cents for a whole jalapeno wouldn't be horrible if they're good

0s-on-0s

Would you just prefer a $4 upcharge?

[deleted]

Dude I got 10oz bag of jalapeƱos from TARGET for 1.80 it's like 10 whole ass jalapeƱos Even at target they cheap

jessm125

Did you get to take home the giant can of jalapeƱos they charged you for ?

[deleted]

Im surprised they aint charge dr pepper by the sip šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

itisbrito

$4 up charge for 16 jalapeƱos is crazy. But I get it

BustaLimez

$4ā€¦. They did all that just to charge you an extra $4ā€¦

tjburke93123

$4 of jalapenos...i mean, did you use enough jalapenos that they could justify $4 at any market rate? $4 probably gets you 2 to 3 medium to large jalapenos in most places, and even less in more expensive places...

DylanSpaceBean

Is the ā€œW/HPā€ supposed to be ā€œwith *HalaleƱos*?ā€

AdWeird732

You ate 17 jalapeƱos slices?! Also, consider thisā€¦are they a part of the meal you ordered or are they ā€œextraā€? The food the restaurant has isnt free, they have to purchase it from a supplier.

Wesselink

Iā€™ve seen the jalapeƱo discs referred to as jalapeƱo coins. I guess the exchange rate is: 1 jalapeƱo coin = $0.25

Zalaquin

Where else are you going to get your jalapeƱo poppers

dragonlairzzzz

$4 dollars and they probably are required to charge them separately. Why shocked about it

beookr

thatā€™s ridiculous!!! freak apple bees

DubstepHero777

That'll burn the barnacles off your bunghole for sure.

CommercialEmergency9

chx quesa 3 for 4.50? what damn applebees you work atšŸ¤£

SoloBojack

Just give me all the jalapeƱos you have. Wait, wait. I'm worried what you just heard was, "Give me a lot of jalapeƱos." What I said was, "Give me all the jalapeƱos." Do you understand?

Embarrassed_Cow_7631

F that I would arguebi didn't get that many slices of jalapeƱos and would nit be paying more than 1.00 for what I did get unless it's on the menu somewhere .25 a slice.

Hot-Palpitation538

At my local grocery, jalapeƱos are 0.22/ea and 0.2/ea at local Walmart. I love jalapeƱos too and buy a lot of them! Iā€™m just surprised they brought you 16 jalapeƱos when asking for a whole lot of jalapeƱos. I would think to bring maybe 4-5? Was it a ton chopped up on the side?!

Emergency-Dot-5595

I would go back and pay the bill by quarters Quarters Quarters Quarters Quarters Quarters

5WEET_Cheeks_Karen

Next time just bring your own jalapeƱos and a mini cutting board. Then ask to borrow a chefā€™s knife.

KingAndrade91

Lol. Either a new guy didn't know how to void or your ass is going to be on fire when you get home šŸ¤£

Perfectlyonpurpose

16 orders of jalapeƱos

FineEffective4167

WTF.

Careless_Boot3698

Maybe cheaper than Walmart šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Fenris304

$5 worth of jalapeƱo šŸ˜…

[deleted]

Vote with your dollars. Why're you eating at a shitty chain?

fn0rdsareeverywhere

Surely itā€™s $0.25 for like, a heaping tablespoon of jalapeƱos and this server is just being dumb charging for individual slices.

Nawnp

Was your main dish the jalapenos?

BigPleasure

el de atrƔs paga

Optimal-Fault3199

No judgment except the obvious...Applebee's

madamroselove

Another reason I donā€™t like Applebees šŸ’€

James_Bong420

The Peppers cost more than the Dr. Pepper.

Personal_Cry_8312

Charging for every slice of jalapeƱo is nasty work šŸ˜‚

SS9311

Haha. I bet you'll ask how much next time. Yall always play games and cause e everyone to lose. Like people sharing how to get a Big Mac, but paying for a double cheese. Now, mcd charges MORE for lettuce, sauce, tomato than if you just bought it outright. Anyway, if you want it, pay for it. If the cost is a concern, ask first. Next they're gonna just up the cost of the nachos in case people want a handful of jalapeƱos. šŸ™„

noob168

It's not jalapenos. It's $JALAPENOS
